Donna Belle Morris Deans

Donna Belle Morris Deans, 92, of Wilson passed away Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Ray Barnhill will officiate.
The family will receive friends prior to service from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Donna was born
in Wilson County, daughter of Willis and Minnie Estelle Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband, CWO4 Willard J. Deans.
Donna was Registered Nurse for 50 years beginning at the Old Carolina General Hospital in 1939.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Donna Sue Deans of Richlands; her son, James Douglas “Jim” Deans and wife, Linda of Fort Myers, FL.; her sisters, Minnie Earl Barnes, Mildred Hardesty both of Wilson and Virginia Muskopf of Belleville, IL and her brothers, Russell V. “Hambone” Morris of Washington, NC and Walter C. ”Shorty” Morris and wife, Mildred “Pete” of Largo, FL.

Esther Patricia Mae Moreira
January 13, 1935 – May 18, 2013
Esther Patricia Mae Moreira, 78, of Lucama, North Carolina passed away Saturday. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, RI Friday, May 24, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.
Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Esther was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and lived her life for them.
Esther is survived by her children, Charles Francis of Warren, Rhode Island, Pamela Andreozzi and husband, Steven of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Roxanne Anania and husband, Angelo of Warwick, Rhode Island, Raymond Moreira, III and wife, Daniella of Brazil, Steven Moreira and wife, Jennifer of Wilson, North Carolina, Michelle Keech and husband, Michael of Wilson, North Carolina and Ronald Moreira and wife, Jennifer of Wilson, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and her sister, Shirley Dubois of Fall River, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Moreira, Jr., and her siblings, Wayne R. Mathias, Arthur Fallone, Betty Fallone and Cheryl Fallone.

Sarah Brewer Gattis
August 19, 1925 – May 20, 2013
Sarah Brewer Gattis, 87, of Wilson passed away Monday. A memorial service will be conducted 5 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. K.A. Martin will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Sarah was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her. She was a history professor at Barton College for over thirty years.
Sarah is survived by her daughter, Susan Frady Ruddon and husband, Robert of Elm City and her son, Russell Allen Frady and wife, Patty of Florida; her two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Carolyn Tice Driver
February 9, 1935 – June 25, 2013
Carolyn Tice Driver, 78, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 414 Sunset Road, Wilson, NC. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Tom Watkins and the Rev. Jim McKinnon will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Carolyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an elementary and middle school teacher for over thirty years, beginning at Braggtown School in Durham and ending at Greenfield Academy in Wilson. Her longest tenure was at Winstead Elementary School in Wilson. She was one of the initial teachers who led the opening of Forest Hills Middle School in Wilson.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Melissa Driver Beard of Cary; her grandson, Walker Beard of Cary; her mother, Elizabeth Gaddy Tice of Durham; her sister, Sally Martin of Farmville and her brothers, Eddie Tice and Harrell Tice both of Durham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Douglas Driver.
Kermit Allen Whitley
March 21, 2013 – June 20, 2013
Kermit Allen Whitley, 90, of Wilson passed away Thursday. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 23, 2013 between 2 – 5 p.m. at 613 Fleming Street, Wilson, NC 27893.
Kermit was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He will be missed and thought of often with warm memories. He was the owner and operator of Whitley Supermarket of Sims.
Kermit is survived by his wife, Doris Ellis Whitley of Wilson; his son, Donald Allen Whitley; his daughter-in-law, Martha Whitley and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Allyn Whitley all of Cape Carteret.

Jarvis Gray Collier
January 23, 1943 – July 10, 2013
Jarvis Gray Collier, 70, of Wilson passed away Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Black Creek Town Cemetery, Black Creek. The Rev. Bill Groce will officiate.

Jarvis is survived by his wife, Doris “Dot” Bass Collier of the home; his son, Jeffrey Gray Collier and wife, Kristi of Black Creek; his granddaughter, Jana Gray Collier of Black Creek; his brother, Ronald R. “Ray” Collier and wife, Judy of Wallace and his aunts, Cassie C. Lamm of Wilson and Francis C. Davis of Richmond, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gray Thomas Collier and Dorothy Capps Collier and his grandson, Jaycee Gray Collier.

Barbara White Swain, 75, of Black Creek passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Oakdale Cemetery in Washington Town, Washington, NC. The Rev. LaVon Phillips and Rev. Melvin Barnette will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
Barbara also known as “Grandma” is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Michele King Spinella and husband, Ernie of Black Creek; her grandsons, William Cameron Spinella and Colin Daniel Spinella both of Black Creek; her sister, Nancy White Whithrow and husband, Fred of Myrtle Beach; her nieces, Elizabeth Dawn Sedlock of Debary, FL, Carmen Paige Adler and Robin White Coble both of Myrtle Beach and her nephew, Marvin Sinclair White III, of Gaston Lake.
“Grandma” was preceded in death by her husband, Avalon “Al” Swain Jr.; her parents, Marvin Sinclair White, Sr. and Elizabeth Felts White; her brother, Marvin Sinclair White, Jr.; and her sister, Elizabeth Joyce Pearce and her twin sister, Beatrice Fleming White and her nephew, Timothy White.
