Ronald Eugene Hamm
October 20, 1957 – January 31, 2015
Ronald “Ronnie” Eugene Hamm, 57, of Kenly left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 31, 2015.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Chris; his mother, Jean Hamm and his brother, Tony and wife, Eileen of Raleigh.
He loved to fish and was always ready with quick wit to share a laugh. He liked NASCAR racing and Duke Basketball games. Ronnie was also a “master” of grilling good food.
He was devoted to his wife and helping his mom, and was always ready to help others. Ronnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memorial service will be held at the church that Ronnie and his family attended, Calvary FW Baptist Church, 9708 Hawley Road, Kenly. Pastor James Murray will officiate at 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 21, 2015.
The family expresses gratitude for all prayers, visits, calls and kindness during this difficult time.
Velma Crocker Hall
July 30, 1931 – March 3, 2015
Velma Crocker Hall, 83, of Middlesex, passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Free Will Baptist Church, Johnson Farm Rd., Kenly. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex. The Rev. Lloyd Hargus will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, and other times at her residence.
Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Hall of Middlesex, Brenda Levinson and husband, Mark, of Lizard Lick, and Joan Joenk and husband, Dave, of Zebulon; three sons, Stanley Hall and wife, Brenda, of Middlesex, Stephen “Steve” Hall and wife, Jamie, of Kenly, and Tim Hall of Morehead City; 17 grandchildren, Gwen, Tami, Allen, Luke, Amanda, Laura, Christan, Shannon, Trey, Stephen, Nikki, Timothy, Ryan, Dana, Amber, Cameron, and Hannah; 27 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Blake, Cameron, Heather, Adam, Alton, Austin, Corey, Cody, Bradley, Caleb, Alex, Chloe, Cameron, Emma, Bella, Mason, Jordan, Jasmine, Dallas, Fiona, Kierstyn, Sophia, Maddie, Keylon, Jordan, and Layla; two great-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson; two sisters, her twin, Thelma Hall, and Sarah Fortesque, both of Middlesex; and her canine companion, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Ray Hall; a son, Alton Hall; a great-granddaughter, Joy; her parents, Ira and Blanche Pittman Crocker; and her brothers and sisters, Floyd, Mavis, Irene, Bercia, Eva, Bertha, John, and Pearl.

Debra Lane Liles
January 5, 1955 – April 18, 2015
Debra Lane Liles, 60, of Wilson passed away Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Dr. Doug Murray will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson
Debra was a teacher for over twenty years in Wilson County Public Schools and a member of First Baptist Church. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Debra is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Logan Liles of the home; her daughter, Sarah L. Pittman and husband, David of Wilson; her son, Matthew Liles of Marietta, Georgia; her grandson, Jameson; her mother, Etheleen Lane of Pinetops and her sisters, Barbara Willer and husband, Raymond of Goldsboro and Kimberly Hays and husband, Scott of Pinetops;
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Lane.

Christie Lynn Goodyear Hopkins
February 8, 1975 – April 4, 2015
Christie Lynn Goodyear Hopkins, 40, of Bailey passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015. Her funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Pentecostal Lighthouse Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Shawn Garnett and the Rev. Gary Randol will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Pentecostal Lighthouse Church, 4747 Lake Wilson Road, Wilson.
Christie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to all she knew. She was the receptionist at Medical Eye Associates in Rocky Mount. She was deeply loved and will be remembered and missed.
Christie is survived by her husband, Autry Wayne Hopkins; her sons, Jeremy Hopkins of Four Oaks, Kristian Hopkins and Brian Hopkins, both of the home; her mother, Mary Tyler Goodyear of Dillon, South Carolina; sisters, Donna McGarty and Marsha Goodyear both of Norwalk, Connecticut and Kathleen Hyatt of Dillon, South Carolina, brothers, Bryan Fulton Goodyear of Dillon, South Carolina and Wade Goodyear of Norwalk, Connecticut; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Tyler of Dillon, South Carolina and uncle, Wayne Tyler of Dillon, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bryan Gene Goodyear.

Danielle Lewis Strickland
May 6, 1939 – May 1, 2015
Danielle Lewis Strickland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend of so many, passed away Friday, May, 1, 2015 at her home in Middlesex surrounded by her family. She was born
in Nash County on May 6, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Phillip Lewis and Mary Daniel.
Surviving are her lifetime husband, Johnnie D. Strickland; sons, John (Michele) of Panama City Beach, Florida, Jeffrey (Sherry) of Winterville and Mark (Deanna) of Wilson; her grandchildren, Jesse (Mick), Jenna Brooke, Kaitlyn, Jeffrey Jr., Jerri Danielle and Allison; her great-granddaughter, Kinsleigh, and her sister-in-law, Verla Capps Lewis.
She also leaves her loving nieces, Mary Edwards Pyck (Jeff), Forrest Lewis Bullard (Archie), Twyla Lewis Elliott (Herb); her favorite nephew, Exum “Pooh” Lewis (Tammy); two special cousins, Kim Morgan and Robin Morgan Damewood (Jim) and sisters-in-law, Katie Strickland and Beulah Strickland Parker and her Jack Russell, “LuLu”.
In addition to her parent’s death, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janie Lewis Edwards and husband, W.H. “Bill”; her brother, Isaac “Ike” Lewis, her nephew, Phil Edwards, and her step-mother, Pearl Faison Lewis.
The family expresses appreciation to the neighbors; Carlton and Debra Lewis, Tom and Carolyn Faulkenberry, Wayne and Carolyn Hopkins; the many relatives and friends and Amy Perryman, RN, with Hospice for their everyday assistance during our weeks of Danielle’s homebound battle with cancer.
The joys of her life in addition to her family involved church, music, homemaking, friends, flower designing and rendering her many talents to others.
Danielle’s employment consisted of twenty-two years with Southern Seed Company in Middlesex as a secretary and bookkeeper, assisting Johnnie with Christmas tree and wreath sales, and partnership of Raleigh Road Garden Center of Wilson. She will be long remembered for her beautiful floral designs and decorative bows.
Danielle’s most enjoyable times were during the many years she devoted to church activities, including directing the youth and adult choirs, pianist, and furnishing flowers for the sanctuary.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at their residence in Middlesex.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at Middlesex Baptist Church, 11490 W. Stewart Street, Middlesex of her own planning; “A Homecoming” program of music and praise by some of the many she held close to her heart since they sang for the Lord as teens in the mid-seventies. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex.

Deborah Mills Harden
August 21, 1952 – April 30, 2015
Deborah Mills Harden, 62, of Wilson passed away Thursday. The family will receive friends 3 – 5 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Joe Harden of the home; her daughter, Lee Harden of Elm City; her sons, Zane Harden of Raleigh, Jake Harden and Cole Harden both of Wilson; her sisters, Beth Fiske and husband, David of Maryland and Ginger Washington of Virginia; and her brothers, Mike Mills and wife, Patty and Jimmy Mills and wife, Sherry both of Richmond, Virginia.

Eddie Brooks Owens, Jr.
October 17, 1959 – May 2, 2015
Brooks Owens, Jr., 55, of Wilson passed away Saturday. His funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Johnny Taylor will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening 5 – 6:45 p.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Brooks was born
October 17, 1959 in Wilson to the late Eddie and Delores Owens. He was employed with Southern Time Equipment Company.
He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Lynn; his step-daughter, Christy Gardner of Dudley; his step-son, Justin Gardner and wife, Natalie; his granddaughter, Annalyn Gardner all of Pikeville, and his in-laws, Dallas and Jean Byrd of Mt. Olive.
