Audrey J. Miller
Southport - Audrey J. Miller, 79 of Southport, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013. Ms. Miller was born
December 18, 1933 in London, England the daughter of the late Fredrick William and Lilly Summers Jousiffe. Ms. Miller was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She had been a volunteer at Dosher Flea Market, a member of the Southport 55 and over club and a member of the Ladies Moose Lodge. Ms. Miller was preceded in death by her husband JC Miller, three sons, Johnny, Kenneth, and Jeffrey Miller, and her companion Bruce I Muncy.
Surviving is her daughter Lynn Miller Martin, a grandson Tony “TJ” Ward; two granddaughters Heather Miller and Stacey Miller Lovell and seven great — grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in the Northwood Cemetery with Reverend Charles Drew officiating.

Walter Stephen “Steve” O’Bryan
Southport — Walter Stephen “Steve” O’Bryan of Southport, NC passed away on Friday January 9, 2014 at his residence.
He was born
on October 23, 1946 in Paintsville, Kentucky the son of the late Walter and Margaret O’Bryan.
Steve loved life to Fullest. He was a musician for many years, owned and operated with his wife, Connie the Celtic Harp in Southport. He loved to compose music, sing and played at the Amuzu Theater here in Southport. He was a business man for many years in Kentucky.
Steve love to tell stories and was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. His smile will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Surviving are his wife, Connie O’Bryan of the home; two daughters, Leigh Ann Collins and husband, Darrell of Boiling Springs Lake and Jamie Lynn Robinson of Oak Island; two grandchildren, Arwen Lyoness Collins and Micheal Alexander Collins; and several loving family and friends.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held Monday January 12, 2015 from 6 to 9 PM at his home, 214 Willis Drive Southport.

Southport — Mafalda “Muffy” Thomas
Mafalda “Muffy” Thomas, 89, of Boiling Spring Lakes, formerly of South Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wolfred Thomas for 62 years.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 22, 1925 she was the daughter of the late James and Lucia (Costantino) Bove.
Mrs. Thomas retired from Revlon Inc.in New Jersey before moving to Boiling Spring Lakes in 1988. She served on the Boiling Spring Lakes planning board from 1992 — 1997. She was a member Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her son, Thomas Daniel Thomas of Boiling Spring Lakes, daughter Gail Ellis & husband James Edward of Carrboro, NC, two grandchildren Thomas Ellis of Cary, NC and Jennifer Ellis of Carrboro, NC
She was the sister of Virginia Kanelos of the late Anthony, Jerry and Peter Bove, also Lynne Cardinal and Mollie Carcia.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday January 13, 2015 at Peacock Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service.

Margaret Owens Pope

Raleigh – Mrs. Margaret Owens Pope, age 90, died Sunday, October 11, 2015. Mrs. Pope was born
in Brunswick, Georgia on April 11, 1925, and was the seventh and youngest child of George Mitchell and Maggie Marr Owens. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mitchell Owens, Thomas Owens, Harry Owens, Geneva Edenfield, Sue Roundtree, and Eugene Owens.
Mrs. Pope attended Glynn Academy while growing up in Brunswick and attended Kings Business College in Raleigh. Her love of children led her to teach kindergarten as a young adult, and later she was employed by Cameron Village Apartments / J.W. York & Co. It was while working with Cameron Village Apartments that she met her future husband, Claude Hughes Pope. They married in 1964 at Edenton Street United Methodist Church and blended two families, modeling love, joy, faith, and character for their children.
Mrs. Pope was a member of St. Saviors Episcopal Church and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Raleigh, and more recently, Edenton Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Cokesbury Isley Sunday School class and along with her husband, Claude, served as a Lay Shepherd. Additionally, she held membership in the Fort Frederica Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Raleigh Woman’s Club.
Mrs. Pope is survived by her devoted husband, Claude; sons Thomas Eugene McAlister and wife Judy of Augusta, GA; Daniel Wright McAlister and wife Susan of Raleigh, NC; Hughes Pope, Jr. and wife Nina of San Diego, CA.; Patrick Lee Pope and wife Jane of Cary, NC; and Stewart Ratliff Pope and wife Arlene of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: John Glover ( Susan), Cheya Pope (Rick), Tyler Pope (Suzanne), Sarah McAlister (Tripp), Ryan Pope (Ali), Carey Pope (John), Preston Pope ( Jasmine), Tommy McAlister (Sarah), and John Pope ( Clint), as well as seven great grandchildren.
The family is especially grateful to Esther Mwandi and Frieda Dadoo for their continued love and support.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church with visitation to follow.

MRS. SARA CHISENHALL JOHNSON, 73, of 2890 Federal Rd., died Wednesday at Harnett Manor Rest Home in Lillington.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Roselawn Cemetery, Benson. Officiating will be the Rev. Aubrey Williamson.
Mrs. Johnson was born
February 16, 1930 in Harnett County to the late Buck Lee and Lessie Pollard Chisenhall.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Linwood Lee "Big Boy" Johnson and Everette "Peanut" Norris; son, Danny Thomas Johnson, and brothers, Jack and Thomas Chisenhall.
Mrs. Johnson was a Homemaker.
Survivors include sons, and daughter — in — law, Dennis and Gloria Johnson of Benson and Todd J. Johnson of Hyde County; daughter, Sandra Diane Johnson of Benson; brothers, Bill Chisenhall, Roy Chisenhall, and Robert Chisenhall, all of Angier, and Sam Chisenhall of Newport, NC; sisters, Mary Johnson of Lillington, and Cozyleen Carroll of Willow Spring; five grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Laura Johnson, Renee Johnson, Christopher Johnson, and Anthony Johnson.
The family will receive friends 7 — 9 p.m. Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson; other times at the home of Diane Johnson, 2288 Federal Road, Benson, NC
