Southport — Majel Reinheimer, age 90, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. Reinheimer was born
in Wichita, Kansas on January 14, 1924, daughter of the late Charles E. and Bertha Goodyear Emory. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Louis Gordon Stevens
Oak Island — Mr. Louis Gordon Stevens, 81 of Oak Island, passed away on March 26, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Stevens was born
June 30, 1932 in Watertown, NY the son of the late Gordon and Frances Hill Stevens. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Stevens.
Surviving is his four daughters, Vicki Misco, Michele Heitlinger, Lori McBride and Wendy Fortman; five grandchildren and five great — grandchildren.
No services will be held.

John Edwin Jacobs, Jr.
Boiling Spring Lakes — John Edwin Jacobs, Jr., 82 of Boiling Spring Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Jacobs was born
May 25, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late John E. Jacobs Sr. and Anna O’Boyle Jacobs. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and sang in the choir. Mr. Jacobs dedicated his life’s work to the mentally handicapped at Public School 600 in Queens, NY where he worked as a teacher and later as assistant principal. He was a member of The Lakes Country Club, and will be remembered as a teacher, race car driver, avid golfer, great cook, and as a member of a barber shop quartet. Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by a daughter Donna Jacobs.
Surviving is his wife Carol Daniti Jacobs, two sons, John E. Jacobs III and wife Kelly and Patrick Gerard Jacobs and wife Angie; two daughters Debra Ann Pardini and husband John and Kathryn Marie Donnelly; a sister Barbara Kerrigan and husband Joseph; eleven grandchildren, Keith Pardini, Johnny Pardini, Erin Pardini, Jamie Levato, Lindsay Jacobs, John Jacobs IV, Amanda Donnelly, James Donnelly Jr., Patrick Jacobs Jr., Ashley Jacobs, and Kloiee Harty; and two great — grandchildren, Kayla Pardini and Dylan Pardini.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 with Reverend Trent Watts officiating.

Adam Karami Muhammad — aka — Salard Abudahbi
Southport — Adam Karami Muhammad — aka — Salard Abudahbi of Southport departed this life February 14, 2014. Adam was born
March 10, 1991 in Olympia Washington. He was the foster son of Aleyah McKenzie Muhammad of Southport and the birth son of Adelaide Mohammed. He graduated with honors from South Brunswick High School in 2009 and attended Barton College in Wilson, NC for 2 ½ years and was on the Dean’s list each semester.
Adam was obsessed with basketball and rap music, making and selling his own CD’s. He was a loving and caring person, growing his hair from an early age to donate to children with cancer through the Locks of Love organization.
Beside his “mom” and birth mother he leaves to cherish his memory, his foster brother, Leonard Moore Jr., Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and special friends, Kevin Reed, Andrew Hill, Bryan Urbing and Tommy Frink, also fellow restaurant co — workers, especially Jill and Eddie.
Graveside committal service will be held Monday March 24, 2014 at 2pm at Northwood Cemetery conducted by Iman Abdul Rahmar Sharef of Masjid Muhammad of Wilmington, NC.

Douglas Ray Hedgpeth
Oak Island — Douglas Ray Hedgpeth, age 71, of Oak Island, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Mr. Hedgpeth was born
in Lumberton, North Carolina on April 19, 1942, son of the late Ray Hedgpeth and Dola Williamson Murphy. Mr. Hedgpeth retired from Lowe’s Home Improvement and was a member of Oak Island Elks Lodge. He enjoyed walking on the beach and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his significant other, Carla Grainger of Oak Island; two daughters, Robin Poythress of Huntersville and Karyn Killinger of Kinston; three brothers, Dwight Hedgpeth, Bill Hedgpeth, and Eric Hedgpeth; two sisters, Gloria Lee and Pam Hamblen; five grandchildren, Walt Killinger, Carey Poythress, Holden Killinger, Eli Poythress, and Holland Killinger.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Oak Island Elks Lodge.

Arla Daris Beard
Oak Island — Arla Daris Beard, age 72, of Oak Island passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014.
Mr. Beard was born
in Walker County, Georgia on October 25, 1941, son of the late Arla William and Frances Scoggins Beard. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and United States Air Force. Mr. Beard was a member of the Soddy — Daisy Masonic Lodge # 706.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Beard of Oak Island and Todd Beard of Franklin, North Carolina; daughter Stefanie Beard of Asheville; brother VC Beard of Soddy — Daisy, Tennessee; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tennessee.

Elizabeth Fretta Willetts
Bolivia — Elizabeth Fretta Willetts, age 97, of Bolivia passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
Mrs. Willetts was born
in Brunswick County on August 16, 1916, daughter of the late Benjamin Chester Willetts and Joanna Long Willetts. She was a faithful, lifetime member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher for many years. She was wife of the late Harold Willetts and was also preceded in death by two children, Donald Willetts and also his wife Nancy “Becky” Willetts and her daughter, Marsena W. Maschino.
Survivors include her son, William Harold “Bill” Willetts and wife Emily of Bolivia; five grandchildren, William H. Willetts, Jr., John M. Willetts, Scott Willetts, Perry Willetts, and Lynn Maschino Blake and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Mill Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Edge officiating. Burial will follow in Willetts Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William H. Willetts, Jr., John M. Willetts, Scott Willetts, Perry Willetts, Bill Bullard, and Lester Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers will be her beloved nephews and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 — 2pm at the church.
