Christine D. Rawley
Southport - Christine D. Rawley, 95 of Southport, NC passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Mrs. Rawley was born
April 20, 1919 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late Frank and Bernice Bronson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Rawley was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Rawley; a son Jimmy Rawley; and three brothers Jimmy, Frank, and Ed Bronson.
Surviving is one son, Gene Rawley of Valparaiso, IN; four daughters Christine Keilman and husband John of St. James, NC, Karen Fleischhauer and husband Mark of Holden Beach, NC, Judy Drake and husband Daryl of Brookville, IN, and Geralyn Webb and husband Larry of Greenwood, IN; a brother Jerome Bronson of Chicago Ridge, IL; a cousin Melvin Zmudka of Cascade, IA; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on January 17, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Roch Catholic Church, 3603 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Michael Vincent Shay
Southport - Michael Vincent Shay, age 67, of Southport passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Shay was born
on April 15, 1947 in Washington D.C., the son of Richard and Rosemary Trott of Florence, AL and was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Shay.
Mike enjoyed taking long walks with his dog Savannah in downtown Southport. His hobbies also included fishing with his son-in-law and grandson and he enjoyed photography. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Poppi.”
Surviving are his wife, Carol Ann Kelly; a son, Aaron Shay of Durham, NC, daughters, Brittany Shay of Newburgh, NY; Jenifer Kelly-Straus, (David) of New Orleans, LA, Erin Mitchell, (Ray) of Southport, NC, sister Cheryl Ferzoco, (Steve) of Florence AL and five grandchildren, Elijah Shay, Connor Mitchell, Sebastian Strauss, Madison Strauss, and Zoe Strauss. Mike lived in Cornwall NY prior to moving to Southport.
Services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 30th at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Chapel in Southport. Interment will follow at Cape Fear Memorial Park.

Walter Stephen “Steve” O’Bryan
Southport - Walter Stephen “Steve” O’Bryan of Southport, NC passed away on Friday January 9, 2014 at his residence.
He was born
on October 23, 1946 in Paintsville, Kentucky the son of the late Walter and Margaret O’Bryan.
Steve loved life to Fullest. He was a musician for many years, owned and operated with his wife, Connie the Celtic Harp in Southport. He loved to compose music, sing and played at the Amuzu Theater here in Southport. He was a business man for many years in Kentucky.
Steve love to tell stories and was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. His smile will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Surviving are his wife, Connie O’Bryan of the home; two daughters, Leigh Ann Collins and husband, Darrell of Boiling Springs Lake and Jamie Lynn Robinson of Oak Island; two grandchildren, Arwen Lyoness Collins and Micheal Alexander Collins; and several loving family and friends.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held Monday January 12, 2015 from 6 to 9 PM at his home, 214 Willis Drive Southport.

Mafalda “Muffy” Thomas
Southport - Mafalda “Muffy” Thomas
Mafalda “Muffy” Thomas, 89, of Boiling Spring Lakes, formerly of South Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wolfred Thomas for 62 years.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 22, 1925 she was the daughter of the late James and Lucia (Costantino) Bove.
Mrs. Thomas retired from Revlon Inc.in New Jersey before moving to Boiling Spring Lakes in 1988. She served on the Boiling Spring Lakes planning board from 1992-1997. She was a member Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her son, Thomas Daniel Thomas of Boiling Spring Lakes, daughter Gail Ellis & husband James Edward of Carrboro, NC, two grandchildren Thomas Ellis of Cary, NC and Jennifer Ellis of Carrboro, NC
She was the sister of Virginia Kanelos of the late Anthony, Jerry and Peter Bove, also Lynne Cardinal and Mollie Carcia.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday January 13, 2015 at Peacock Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service.

Una Potter “Tootsie” Smith
Bolivia - Una Potter “Tootsie” Smith 79 of Bolivia died Wednesday January 7, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Smith was born
in Brunswick County on January 2, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Monroe and Juanita Cooker Potter. She was preceded in death by two children, Gary Hunter and Kimberly Smith.
She is survived by three sons, Matthew Smith of Shallotte, Robert Lewis of Southport, Glen Hunter of Roxboro, a daughter, Vivian Hunter of New York; two brothers, Billy Potter of Bolivia, Wayne Potter of Port Royal, SC; a sister, Ella Mae Burris of Tennessee, 2 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 10, 2015 at 2pm at Peacock-Newnam &White funeral service Chapel, Southport with Reverend Dr. Ann Jahnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Northwood Cemetery
The family will receive friends from 7:30 until 9:00 Friday January 9th at the funeral home.

Michael Shawn Stutz
Boiling Spring Lakes - Mr. Michael Shawn Stutz, 48, of Southport, NC died Tuesday January 6, 2015 at his following a sudden illness
Mr. Stutz was born
in Lexington, NC on April 22, 1966 and was the son of Bill Stutz of the home and the late Joyce Hanes Stutz. He was a former employee of Print Craft of Lexington. He was a member of Yaupon Beach Fire Department and was a dispatcher with Oak Island Police Department and a EMT.
Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Tammy Stutz of the home, a daughter, Patricia Stutz of the home; a brother, Dana Stutz and wife Patricia of Southport, a sister, Tara Durham and husband George of Boiling Spring Lakes, a nephew, Corey Kearns of Southport.
Funeral services will be held Friday January 9, 2015 at 6pm at Peacock-Newnam & White funeral service, 1411 N. Howe Street, Southport with Reverend Charles Drew officiating.
Graveside services will be Saturday January 10, 2015 at 2pm at Reeds Baptist Church Cemetery, Lexington, NC
