Enid Lorraine Shea
Caswell Beach - Enid Lorraine Shea, age 87, of Caswell Beach passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at SECU Hospice of Brunswick in Bolivia.
Mrs. Shea was born
February 4, 1927, daughter of the late Ernest A. and Sally Coleman Harvey. She was an Ensign in the United States Navy Nurse Corps during the Korean War. Mrs. Shea was very active in her Connecticut community as an Emergency Medical Technician, a Standard and Advance Emergency First Aid Care Instructor, a Cardio-Pulmonary Respiration Instructor, an American Red Cross Bloodmobile Nurse, an American Red Cross Field Representative, a member of the Enfield Cardio Nurses Auxiliary Unit, and a Girl Scout Leader. She moved from Connecticut twenty-three years ago and made her home in Caswell Beach where she became very active in the Caswell Dunes community. She was a member of the Oak Island Women’s Golf Club Ladybirds. She enjoyed playing golf and walking on the beach. Mrs. Shea was preceded in death by one brother Jay Harvey of Caswell Beach.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, John Shea; two sons, Jon Shea and wife Alice of East Windsor, Connecticut and Robert Shea and wife Shari of Suffield, Connecticut; three daughters, Teri Saren and husband Glenn of Coral Springs, Florida, Karen Wilson and husband David of Enfield, Connecticut, and Lori Plifka and husband Stanley of Winchester, New Hampshire; nine grandchildren, Erik Saren, Kimberly Saren, Tricia Antos, Erika Santiago, Kelsey Plifka, Haley Plifka, Garrett Plifka, Ryan Shea, and Holly Shea; and three great grandchildren, Kaleb, Keegan, and Kendyl Antos.
A memorial gathering will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in the Peacock – Newnam & White funeral service Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her memory to SECU Hospice of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, North Carolina 28422.

Donald Francis Spriet
Southport - Donald Francis Spriet, 89 of Southport, passed away on August 15, 2014 at Dosher Nursing Center. Mr. Spriet was born
March 25, 1925 in Elgin, Illinois the son of the late Charles and Sarah Spriet. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp having served as a pilot in WWII. Mr. Spriet retired from Unisys Corporation New York City 27 years ago. He and his late wife Anne then moved to Moosehead Lake, Maine for the next 22 years, and finally three years ago they moved to Southport where Anne passed away two years ago.
Surviving is three sons Dennis Spriet, Paul Spriet, and David Spriet (Karen) all of New Jersey; two daughters Kathy Caruso and husband Rich of Southport, and Karen Rothenheber (Phil) of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren Brian Caruso and wife Nicole, Michael Caruso and wife Jami, Scott Caruso and wife Ashley, Karin Goude and husband Ryan, Eric Rothenheber, Lisa Ford, Laura Conner and husband Chuck, and Brianna Spriet; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 22, 2014 in the Peacock – Newnam & White funeral service Chapel with Reverend Homer Murdock officiating.

Marjorie R. Gay
Southport - Marjorie R. Gay of Southport passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at SECU Hospice of Brunswick after fighting a long, hard battle with cancer.
Marjorie was born
September 29, 1958, daughter of the late Samuel and Marjorie Gay.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Myron Kessler officiating.

Theresa Marie Herbeck
Oak Island - Theresa Marie Herbeck, age 98, of Oak Island passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.
Mrs. Herbeck was born
March 6, 1916 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She enjoyed visiting the Oak Island Senior Center and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Herbeck was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a hero, a legend, a kind and compassionate woman and the world is a better place because of her. She was preceded in death by her husband George L. Herbeck.
Survivors include her son, George L. Herbeck, Jr. of Melbourne, Florida; daughter, Janice Terry and husband Jay of Oak Island; two sisters, Joan Whayland and Mary Sieglman, both of Baltimore, Maryland; four grandchildren, Lori Mathis of Wilmington, Christine Herbeck of San Diego, California, Bernadette McFarland of San Diego, California, and Rusty Terry of Oak Island; eight great grandchildren, Maddie McFarland of San Diego, California, Gage Terry of Oak Island, Morgan Mathis of Wilmington, Jesse Mathis of Wilmington, Bella Frank of San Diego, California, Sophia Frank of San Diego, California, Kyle McFarland of San Diego, California, and Fisher Terry of Oak Island; and her many friends from the Oak Island Senior Center.
Funeral services will be 5:00pm Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel in Southport.

Edward William L. Ledford
Boiling Spring Lakes - Edward William L. Ledford went home to be with his Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, on August 20, 2014. He was a faithful servant of God who was concerned for the souls of others.
Born in Waynesville, North Carolina on January 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Delmar E. and Blonnie Ledford. Ed was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II and was a retired lineman. Mr. Ledford was also preceded in death by his brother Lloyd D. Ledford and sister Florence Anthony.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara and step-children Billy, Anthony, and Mickey Simms, and Debbie Spinks; a very special niece Debbie Cunningham, niece Becky Farless, and nephew George Anthony.
Mr. Ledford will be remembered by many in the Southport area as “the man who wore an oxygen tank and gave out gospel tracts in Walmart, outside Food Lion, and Lowes Foods.”
Funeral services will be 3pm Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Sonrise Independent Baptist Church. Interment will be 1pm Monday, August 25, 2014 in Salisbury National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at the church.

Evelyn Lee Lewis McKeithan
Oak Island, NC - Evelyn Lee Lewis McKeithan, 95, of Oak Island passed away on August 16, 2014 in the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
Mrs. McKeithan was born
August 31, 1918 in New Hanover County to the late William and Lenora Lewis. She was a long time resident of Bolivia and had lived on Oak Island for the last 15 years. Mrs. McKeithan was a retired rural letter carrier for the US Postal service having begun delivering during WWII. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Kenneth McKeithan and a grandson, Michael Corey McKeithan.
Surviving are her three sons Robert Kenneth “Bob” McKeithan, Jr. of Oak Island, William Patrick McKeithan and wife Marie of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Timothy Wayne “Tim” McKeithan of Monrovia, California; a daughter M. Lee Seaton of Eugene, Oregon; seven grandchildren, Robin McKeithan Furnier and husband Brent, Suzanne Flegel, Kathleen Seaton, David Seaton, Christopher McKeithan, Jennifer Furlow, and Keano McKeithan; four great grandchildren, Robert Tyler Furnier, Thomas Austin Furnier, Felicia Rose Furnier, and Wyatt Furnier; and one great-great grandson, Cole Cameron Furnier.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bolivia.

Eleanor Grace Sullivan
Winnabow - Eleanor Grace Sullivan, 72, of Winnabow passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. Sullivan was born
in Onslow County February 28, 1942. She was a faithful and devoted member of Lebanon Baptist Church and a full-time Mama. She retired from Roses Department Store after 20 years of service. She was wife of the late William Barkley Sullivan, and was also preceded in death by her mother, Mary Salsman and granddaughter, Brittany Rayl.
Survivors include her four children, Judy Faircloth and husband Tony of Winnabow, Faye Dunagan and husband Dennis of Carthage, Cindy Moore and Shawn of Winnabow, William B. Sullivan, Jr. and wife Pam of Winnabow; grandchildren, Timothy Faircloth and wife Jennifer, Lane Hewett, Tiffany Faircloth, Jessica Hewett and husband Shannon, Monica Hewett, Amber Anastas, Alexis Locklear, Jeffrey Rayl, Charles Rayl; great grandchildren, Chloe Hewett, Casey Hewett, Daulten Thomas, Carah Hewett, Mason Rayl, Ayden Rayl, Cameron Rayl, Bryleigh Thomas, Brantley Rayl, and Garrett Barkley Faircloth; her very special canine daughters, Lucy and Molly; and numerous nieces and nephews that were special to her.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Lebanon Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Ennis officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Cook, Johnny Sullivan, Rance Sullivan, Josh Sullivan, Gus Benino, Jr., and Larry Wayne Perhealth.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00pm Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service, Southport.
