Margaret Frances Whitney
Margaret Frances Whitney, 96, of Raleigh, died suddenly January 28, 2004. She was a resident at Rex Nursing Care Center in Apex, and is the widow of George Whitney of Saugerties, N.Y.
Mrs. Whitney is survived by a daughter, Harriet Koot and husband, Jan; three grandchildren, Joseph Whitney, Gregory Whitney and Margaret Holmes; one great-grandchild, Daniel Holmes; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Whitney. All are from Raleigh.
A funeral service was held Monday, February 02, 2004, at Holland United Methodist Church in Raleigh. Mrs. Whitney is buried next to her husband at the Blue Mountain Cemetery in Saugerties, N.Y.

David (Dave) Russell Rudolf
Southport - David (Dave) Russell Rudolf
David (Dave) Russell Rudolf, age 60, of Southport died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Dave was born
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 19, 1952, son of the late Robert and Margaret Roney Rudolf. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Dave retired as an air traffic controller and pursued his interest as a private pilot. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and grilling but especially spending time with his children and grandchildren at his home at the beach as well as the family cabin in Wisconsin. He loved to travel, especially to Ireland to enjoy the music and a wee bit o’whiskey. All who knew him enjoyed his wit. Dave was preceded in death by one brother Jeffrey Rudolf.
Survivors include his wife Monica Rawski Rudolf of Southport; two daughters, Kelly Anne Skoug and husband Jason of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Kathleen Marie Rudolf of Woodstock, Virginia; brother, Robert J. Rudolf, Jr. and wife Jan of Omaha, Nebraska; sister Judy Hoyt and husband Milton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two grandchildren Grace Camryn Skoug and Brayden Michael Skoug. He was loved by numerous friends and family across the country.
A celebration of life service will be held on June 8, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Leff’s in Florence, Wisconsin.

James H. Flowers
Boiling Spring Lakes - Mr. James H. Flowers age 91 of Boiling Spring Lakes died Saturday May 18, 2013 at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Flowers was born
in Pittsburg, Pa. on March 12, 1922 and was the son of the late Leslie and Helen Schaefer Flowers. He was preceded in death by two children, James and Susan. Mr. Flowers was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving during World War II as a combat photographer in the Pacific Theater. He attended monthly meetings in Wilmington with the World War II organization and was also a member of the Marine Corp League of Wilmington. Mr. Flowers volunteered several years with the US Open King Mackerel Fishing Tournament and the NC Fourth of July Festival in Southport. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary of Southport.
He is survived by his wife, Peg Flowers; two sons, Jeffrey Flowers and David Flowers of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Kristina, Brigitte, Daniel, Corey, Jamie and two great – grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Pastor David Nelson officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

Kathleen A. Soltis
Southport - Mrs. Kathleen A. Soltis age 66 of Southport, N.C. died Thursday May 16, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Kathleen was born
in Perth Amboy, NJ on July 1, 1946. She was an Emergency Room nurse for 40 years at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, NJ. She loved boating and being on the water and spending time with her wonderful grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, John Soltis; parents, Robert and Sophie Johnson of Pennington, NJ; three children, Jodi Kipila and husband Glenn of Jackson, NJ, Robert Poulsen and wife Reneé of Katy, TX, Staci DiMaggio and husband Michael of Jackson, NJ; a sister, Geraldine Helondovitch and husband James of North Myrtle Beach, SC, eight grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.
A gathering will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Aloysius Parish, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson, New Jersey followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

Roy W. Woodward
Boiling Spring Lakes - Roy W. Woodward, 92 of Boling Spring Lakes, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 in the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
Mr. Woodward was born
February 7, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Harry and Nellie Blanche Petri Woodward. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII in the Philippines and earning the Bronze Star. He was a union representative and had served as the commissioner of the Police and Fireman’s Pension in New Jersey. Mr. Woodward was preceded in death by a son William Woodward, and a granddaughter Julie Woodward.
Surviving is his wife Virginia “Jeannie” Woodward, a son Thomas Woodward, four grandchildren Michael Woodward, Caroline Woodward, Thomas Woodward, and Brian Woodward, two great-grandchildren and another due this month, a sister-in-law Peggy Harrisson and husband Frank, and a brother-in-law Joseph George Cunningham.
A memorial service will be held at the family home at a later date.

Howard Norton Kilgore
Southport - Howard Norton Kilgore, age 79, of Southport died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Kilgore was born
in Logan, West Virginia on December 1, 1933, son of the late Harry and Gladys Johnson Kilgore. He worked as a commercial roofer. Mr. Kilgore was preceded in death by several brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife Geraldine Carter Kilgore of Southport; one daughter Karen Campasino of Currie; one brother Bob Kilgore of Monroe; one half brother Delbert Kilgore of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters Doris Hannah of Monroe and Ruth Helm of New Market, Virginia; and one granddaughter Collin Baldiga of Oak Island.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel in Southport.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 at the funeral home.

Arnold Leo Hewett Sr.
Supply - Mr. Arnold Leo Hewett Sr. age 80 of Supply died Monday November 26, 2012 at SECU Hospice Facility, Bolivia.
Mr. Hewett was born
in Brunswick County on May 7, 1932 and was the son of the late Jasper and Macie Robinson Hewett. He was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Leo Hewett Jr. He was retired logger.
He is survived by his wife Louise Hewett; a son, Doug Hewett of Supply; four daughters, Sharon Knight of Supply, Debbie Melendres of Supply, Cindy Clemmons of Shallotte, Marsha Rhodes of Supply; a brother, Rex Allen Hewett of Shallotte; a sister, Yvonne Ferguson of Ash; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday November 29, 2012 at 2pm at White funeral service Chapel with Reverend Maurice Milligan officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Shallotte.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Dr. Shallotte and other times from the residence.
