Ollie Shelton Williams
September 07, 2012
Ollie Shelton Williams, 73, of New Bern, died on Friday, September 7, 2012. Shelton grew up as a farmer’s son in rural Wayne County and was very proud of it. He saw most of the United States by piloting a big rig for years prior to moving to Craven County 46 years ago as the manager of a moving and storage company. Several years later, he went to work for Stanley Tools as a long distance freight hauler, retiring 46 years later from what is now known as Bosch. Shelton liked to say that he went in the back door of Stanley Tools and came out the front door of Bosch. He was a self-made man. During his years he completed 97 classes at Craven Community College. He loved to learn and later became an adjunct instructor. He was a certified scuba diver and beekeeper. He loved to check on his bees daily. Shelton was known to many as a hard working man who was always tinkering on something. He collected many objects during his life, but the most important things to him were his friends and acquaintances that he knew. He was a loving father, great brother, good husband and friend. Shelton will truly be missed.
He is survived by one son, Todd Grady of Goldsboro; one daughter, Gina Oglesby and husband Paul of Seneca, SC; one brother, Clayton Williams of Goldsboro; three sisters, Hilda Summerlin and husband Jim of Goldsboro, Kathy Allen of Goldsboro and Gwen Pullias of Florida; and two grandchildren, Avery Holcombe and Orry Oglesby.
