SHELBY — Mrs. Christine Lattimore Thompson, 69, of 210 Maple St., died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Willie Mae Johnson Lattimore. She was a member of Vision Baptist Church. She was retired from Fasco Controls Inc. after 22 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adolphus Thompson; six brothers, Thomas M. L. Sidney Lee, Everett Jr., Bobby and Peabo Lattimore and five sisters, Geraldine Sadler, Willie Mae Forney, Florinda Lattimore, Flishes Ann Elmore and Emily Morning. She is survived by a son, Adolphus Thompson Jr. of Dayton, Ohio; six daughters, Debra Poston, Tita Thompson, Carolyn Thompson, Teney Thompson, Vera Thompson and Denise Thompson all of Shelby; a brother, Charles Lattimore of Cherryville; four sisters, Lorine Link of Hickory, Ruby Watts of Vale, Mattie J. Evans of Lincolnton and Edie Bowden of Cherryville; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Good Samaritan Fellowship Church with the Rev. Charles Rudisill officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church and other times at the home of Denise Thompson, 205 Broad St., Shelby.

PINEVILLE — Mrs. Iva Ellen Hoyle Cline, 75, of 13535 Dansville Drive, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C. Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Moody and Lucille Canipe Hoyle and widow of the late Marshall O. Cline Sr. She was a homemaker. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Hoyle; and one sister, Marjorie Rodgers. She is survived by a son, Marshall Cline of Shelby; a daughter, L. Arlene Cline of Pineville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Myra Hoyle and Robert and Joy Hoyle, all of Shelby; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Peggy Cornwell of Charlotte, and Barbara and Jim Pressley and Rachel and Charles Fowler, all of Shelby; three grandchildren, Claude O. Ross III and Mark and Adam Cline, all of Shelby. The funeral is today at noon at First Baptist Church Webb Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. SHELBY — Ms. Hazel Frances Harrill, 85, of White Oak Manor in Shelby died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at White Oak Manor. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Jessie Gale Harrill. She was a home companion to the elderly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Beulah and Ruth Graham, Mabel Bowman, Blanche Green, Madge Shytle and Pansy Hawkins, all of Shelby. She is survied by one sister, Virginia Ricker of Asheville; her nieces, June Barbee of Charleston, S.C., Judi Hipps of Shelby and Teresa Carroll of Pauline, S.C.; a nephew, Larry Boyes of Gray Court, S.C., and many other nieces and nephews. The graveside funeral service is today at 3 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery, with the Rev. David Black officiating. The family will receive friends today at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Guynell Oliver, 84, of 117 Parkdale Circle, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Wendover at Hospice of Cleveland County. She was born in Lancaster, S.C., to the late William Thomas and Elizabeth Humphrey Robinson. She was wife of the late Ray Bill Oliver. She was a former member of Piedmont Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, and retired from Parkyarn Mills after 37 years of service. She is survived by five daughters, Brenda Humphries and her husband, Charles, Chris Petersen and Linda Moss and her husband, Larry, all of Kings Mountain, Darlene Killian and her husband, Joe, of York, S.C., and Marlene Denton of Gastonia; two sisters, Sarah Kelly of Bessemer City and Eva Mae Taylor of Cowpens, S.C.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Cindy Coleman and Chaplain Carolyn Sears officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will have informal visitation at home, 117 Parkdale Circle, this afternoon. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Cyrus and Amanda Jane Evans Russ. Her husband was the late A.C. Turner. She retired from Dora Yarn Mill after 45 years of service. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John and Lennie Elizabeth Jones Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Logan Edwards; two daughters, Erie Cantrell and Louise Ramsey; two brothers, Millard Wilson and Julius Wilson; and four sisters, Lois Ellis, Vertie Poteat, Ida Humphries and Dorie Padgett. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe and Barbara Edwards of Shelby and John Edwards of Ellenboro; a daughter, Mary Lou Smith of Bessemer City; a sister, Ellie Lee of Shelby; 14 grandchildren, Wanda Humphries, Lori Rabb, Tonda Putnam, John Edwards Jr., Kenneth Edwards, Diane Bridges, Kathy Smith, Karen Keeter, Tracy Morton, Peggy Brown, Danny Harris, Thomas Harris, Sheila King and Dallas Harrill; and a number of great-grandchildren.
