PRICETOWN — Hazel Garris Price, 87, of 397 Atlas Price Road, Seven Springs, in the Pricetown community, died Saturday morning, January 22 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service was held at Sunday, January 23 at 5 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall’s Funeral Home in Mount Olive . The Rev. Anne Sims and the Rev. Gerald Garris officiated.
Committal and interment was Monday, January 24 at 11 a.m. in Pineview Cemetery .

Gladys S. McCullen
Calypso — Gladys Stanley McCullen, 73, of 112 Cameron Street in Calypso died Thursday morning, January 20 at Wayne Memorial Hospital at Goldsboro.
A funeral service was held Friday evening, January 21, at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive with the Rev. Kenneth Powell officiating. Committal and burial was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23 in the Calypso Cemetery .
She is survived by her husband, Henderson McCullen of the home; three brothers, Edward Stanley of Albertson, Kenneth Stanley of Dover, and James Stanley of La Grange; and four sisters, Virginia Chestnut of Pink Hill, Viola Kornegay of Kinston, Laura Maldonado of Black Creek and Margaret Odom of Kinston.
Memorial gifts may be made to Peace Baptist Church in Calypso.
Roy James Houston
BEULAVILLE — Roy James Houston, 84, died Tuesday, January18.
A funeral service was held Thursday, January 20 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Community Funeral Home. Elder Wesley Houston officiated. A graveside service was held Friday, January 21 at 11 a.m. at Brown Cemetery in Pink Hill.
Mavis W. King
FAISON — Mavis Whitfield King, 70, of 7595 Suttontown Road, Faison, died at her home on Tuesday, January 25.
She was born
December 26, 1934 and was one of eight children of the late Albert and Ella Mae Hudson Whitfield and she was reared in Mount Olive .
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 28 at 2 p.m. from the Goshen New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Ralph Jernigan, the Rev. Stanley King and the Rev. Jim Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park at Goldsboro .
The family was to have received friends Thursday, January 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove.
Elma S. Raynor
NEWTON GROVE—Elma S. Raynor, 82, of 5695 William R. King Road, Newton Grove, died Wednesday, January 26.
A funeral service was held Thursday, January 27 at 7 p.m. from Pleasant Union Christian Church in Newton Grove. The Rev. Joe Wingfield officiated. Burial will be Friday, January 28 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery at Newton Grove.
The family received friends immediately after the funeral services in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of Carolyn Waters, 112 Tomahawk Trail, Clinton 28328.

Ronnie ‘The Boss’ Sox
Ronnie “The Boss” Sox 67, of Richmond, VA, formerly of Burlington, NC, lost his courageous battle with prostate cancer at his home on Saturday, April 22, 2006.
“The Boss”, as he was often referred to, was in the minds of many, the greatest drag racer in the history of the sport. His following and his fan base, even to this day, were a true testament to his success both on and off the drag strip.
Ronnie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Alecia Diane Sox; his faithful and loyal Maltese, “Phoebe Mae Sox” of Richmond, VA; his father, Willard M. Sox of Burlington, NC; three sons, Dean (Lynn) Sox and Jeff Sox, all of Mount Olive, NC, Mike (Tammy) Page, of Mebane, NC; one daughter, Rhonda Poleo of Kure Beach, NC; two brothers, Tommy (LaRue) Sox, and David (Pam) Sox; one sister, Sandra (O’Delle) Binkley, all of Burlington, NC; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of other family members; his two lifelong friends, Bill and David McCaskill of Burlington, NC, Lloyd (Erma) Desper of Richmond, VA; fellow racers, all his golfing buddies at Shamrock Golf Course, many devoted and loyal fans; and last but not least, longtime racing partner and friend, Buddy Martin and wife, Carolyn, of Fayetteville, NC.
The family extends a special thanks to Bon Secours Hospice and Doctors Sam and Richard Graham, Katie Lloyd and Bernie Tisdale.
The family received friends Wednesday, April 26, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 Parham Road . Visitation was held Thursday, April 27 and on Friday, April 28 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. both days at Rich and Thompson funeral service, 207 East Elm Street, Graham, NC, where there will also be a memorial service Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.

Mrs. Ruth Carter Tarkenton, 96, of 11541 N.C. Highway 32 North, Roper, died Tuesday, April 11 at home.
A funeral service was held Thursday, April 13 at 2 p.m. from Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Roper, with the Rev. Frank Alexander officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Helen Tarkenton; one sister, Ruby Carter Kornegay; and two brothers, Harvey Carter and Jarvis Carter.
Funeral arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.

GRANTHAM -- Ruby Ingram Butler Warrick, 88, of the Grantham community, died Sunday, April 22 at Wayne Memorial Hospital at Goldsboro .
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 26 at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive . The Rev. Dr. Dennis Atwood will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive .
Ms. Warrick was preceded by two daughters, Deloris Butler Felzer and Megan Butler; and a sister, Ruth Ingram Bradford.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
