Kathleen Dunham Gordon
Kathleen Dunham Gordon, 85, of Zebulon, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at her home after many months of declining health. Graveside service was Saturday, February 19, at Zebulon Town Cemetery, Gordon Plot.
She was born in Bladen County January 12, 1920, daughter of the late Samuel Emmett Dunham and Kate Melvin Dunham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Jeff” Gordon; and son, Sam Gordon.
Surviving: daughter, Sue Gordon Hocutt and husband Mack of Zebulon; son, Jeffery B. Gordon and wife Edith of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sister, Susan D. Chapman of Zebulon; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Mary Ellen Johnson McGee
Mary Ellen Johnson McGee, 68, of Knightdale, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at her home. Memorial service was Friday, February 18, at L. Harold Poole funeral service chapel, Knightdale.
She was born in Johnston County Oct. 24, 1936, daughter of the late Marvin Johnson and Martha Stancil Johnson.

Robert Millard Daniels
Robert Millard Daniels, 83, of Smithfield, died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Britthaven of Smithfield after a brief illness. Graveside service was Wednesday, February 23, at Old Knightdale Baptist Church cemetery, Daniels Plot.
He was born in Wake County March 4, 1921, son of the late Robert Daniels and Helen Watkins Daniels. He was a retired mechanic with Fred Hamlin Co., and, until retirement, he was the equipment superintendent with the company. He served his country in the Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda Daniels; brothers, Woodrow, Cleveland, Lewis, Bailey and Lumis; and sister, Margie D. Denton.
Surviving: wife, Anna Aldridge Daniels; daughter, Sandra Daniels Bailey and husband Ken of Wendell; stepdaughter, Mary Anna Allen and husband Ronnie of Smithfield; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Katherleen Duke Gay
Katherleen Duke Gay, 85, of Britthaven of Louisburg, died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Franklin Regional Hospital after many months of declining health. funeral service was Wednesday, February 23, at Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was born in Franklin County July 28, 1919, daughter of the late Davis Argo Duke and Gladys Richards Duke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Presley Jackson Gay, Aug. 6, 1991; brother, Bobby Duke; and sisters, Olivia Perry and Dazelle Bigham.
Surviving: daughters, Kathy G. Gay and husband Harley B. Gay of Henderson, Jackie G. Robertson and husband Charles Robertson of Knightdale; grandchildren, Neal Gay, Cecilia Gay, Gerrod Gay, Daniel Robertson, Katie Robertson; great-granddaughter, Isabel Robertson; sister, Melba Duke Perry of Zebulon.

Janet Perry Jones
Janet Perry Jones, 66, of Wendell, died Monday, February 21, 2005, at Duke Health Raleigh Hospital. funeral service will be Thursday, February 24, at 2 p.m. at L. Harold Poole funeral service chapel, Knightdale. Burial will be at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery.
She was born January 2, 1939, in Wake County, daughter of the late Lee Hill Perry Jr. and Ida Myrtle Parrish.

Wilbur Bowen
Wilbur Bowen, 83, of Zebulon, died Friday, February 4, 2005, after a long period of declining health. Private memorial service was Sunday, February 13, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Zebulon.
He was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Greene County, son of the late Robert W. and Lillie M. Bowen. He and his family resided in Greene County until 1962, at which time they moved to Farmville. In 1970, they made Zebulon their home for 35 years. For many years, he worked with Durham Life Insurance Co. In 1975, he was employed by Horace Mann Educators Insurance Co., where he worked until retirement in 1993. He had a love for the ministry and was a minister of Jehovah's Witnesses for 62 years.
Surviving: wife of 56 years, Elma Hedgepeth Bowen of Zebulon; daughter, Debrah Bowen Hild and son-in-law, Brad Hild of Zebulon; granddaughter, Megan Lee Hild of Zebulon; brother, Milton Bowen of Hookerton; sisters, Irma Barnette and Lillie Dean Bowen of Ormondsville; brother-in-law, Bob Hedgepeth of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hedgepeth Jones of Whitakers, Edna Bowen of Ayden; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends.

Elizabeth L. Potts
Elizabeth Long "Pud" Potts, 71, of Engelhard, died early Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington. Memorial service was Thursday, February 17, at St. George's Episcopal Church. Interment was in the church cemetery on the family plot.
Born in Hyde County February 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late James Mendall Milton Long and Ruby Hopkins Long. She was married to Fred L. Potts Jr., who preceded her in death. During her years in Knightdale, she worked as office manager at Knightdale Medical Center and was a volunteer with Knightdale Area Rescue until retirement in 1984. She was a deacon of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Raleigh and a member of the choir while living there.
In 1984, she moved to Engelhard where she owned Hyde Supply Inc. with her husband until 1991. She then worked as a medical assistant at Liverman Clinic until 2003. While living in Hyde County, she was an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church, serving as volunteer coordinator and editor of the newsletters and bulletins. She was a past vestry member, Sunday school instructor, and an EFM student. She played in two bridge clubs and was a bridge instructor. She was instrumental in organizing the Engelhard Development Corp. and was presently a member of the Beautification Committee. She was preceded in death by brothers, George A. Long and Jack M. Long; and a sister, Nena Long Barrett.
Surviving: sons, Dr. Frederick L. "Rick" Potts III and wife Glenda of Goldsboro, Joseph Long Potts and wife Debbie of Wendell; daughter, Susan P. Casper and husband Mike of Engelhard; brother, Mendall H. Long of Cary; sisters, Dorothy L. Quinn of Bartow, Fla., June L. Liverman of Engelhard; grandchildren, James Potts, John Potts, Jennifer Potts, Andrea Potts, Victor Potts, Suzanne Casper Torres, Michael Casper; great-granddaughter, Bianca Nicole Torres.

Robert C. Floyd
Robert Clifton Floyd, 75, of Raleigh, died Saturday, February 19, 2005. funeral service was Wednesday, February 23, at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Born May 11, 1929, in Wake County, he was a retired sanitarian with the Wake County Health Department and served with the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Hugh Morson High School and Campbell College.

Alex Bass
Alex Bass, 17, of Rocky Mount, died Friday, February 18, 2005. funeral service was Monday, February 21, at Ridgecrest Worship Center. Burial was at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
He was born June 3, 1987, in Nash County. He was a member of Ridgecrest Worship Center where he was active with the youth group. He was a senior at Northern Nash Senior High where he played forward on the soccer team. During his battle with cancer the last five years, he was more concerned with others than himself. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jerline Harper Jones; and paternal grandfather, Fred Bass.
Surviving: parents, Frederick James Bass and Tracy Bagley Bass of the home; maternal grandfather, Worth Steve Bagley of Wendell; paternal grandmother, Nyoka Bass Griffin and husband Jim; paternal great-grandparents, the Rev.
