Malcolm B. Beddingfield, 97, of Zebulon, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Guardian Care of Zebulon. funeral service was Tuesday, April 26, at Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Burial was at the church cemetery.

He was born December 20, 1907. His parents were Henry Hayes Beddingfield and Elizabeth Mullon, longtime residents of Pine Ridge. He was preceded in death by wives, Lydia Edmonds, formerly of Wendell, and Ruby Pace Cheeves, formerly of Pine Ridge; brothers, David, Eugene and Rudell; and sisters, Blonney, Bernice, Irene, Lois and Mary Francis.

Surviving: brother, Hubert Hayes of Fresno, Calif.; many nieces and a nephew.

Peggy Ann Baggett

Peggy Ann Baggett, 75, of Cary, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Rex Healthcare. funeral service was Wednesday, April 27, at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel, Raleigh. Interment was at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Born June 3, 1929, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Grace Medlin Wheless. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Thomas Baggett, in 1988.

Surviving: children, Ann Baggett Willet and husband Robert of Roswell, Ga., Charleen Baggett and husband Richard Strickler of Raleigh, Michael Baggett and wife Catherine of Columbia, S.C., Chris Baggett of Edenton; grandchildren, Jason Whitley, Ian Pierce, Kellie Baggett, Tommy Baggett, Katie Baggett, Melody Touchton; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Strickler, Taylor Richards; siblings, Janie Medlin, Spencer Wheless, Mary Southall.

Memorials may be made to Pine Ridge Baptist Church, Zebulon; or the American Heart Association.

Dianne W. Yarbrough

Dianne Watkins Yarbrough, 57, of Garner, died Monday morning, April 25, 2005, at Rex Healthcare. funeral service was Wednesday, April 27, at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Garner. Burial was in Montlawn Memorial Park.

A native of Wake County, she was the assistant director of finance and personnel for the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Floyd Watkins.

Surviving: daughters, Tonya Brady and husband George T. Brady III of Cary, Tara Saul and husband Peter Saul of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kayley and Ashley Brady, Karli Saul; mother, Georgia Watkins of Knightdale.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 2310 S. Miami Blvd., Suite 138, Durham 27703.

Rodney J. Tackett

Rodney James Tackett, 47, of Louisburg, died Sunday night, April 17, 2005. funeral service was Saturday, April 23, at Strickland Funeral Home chapel, Louisburg. Burial was at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

He was born July 26, 1957. He was preceded in death by his father, James Tackett.

Surviving: mother, Cloia Payne of Louisburg; sisters, Vicki Brady of Wendell, Brenda Tackett of Nokesville, Va.; brothers, Dennis Tackett of Youngsville, Philip Tackett of Easton, Pa., Paul Tackett of South Riding, Va.

Luther Louis Snelling Sr.

Luther Louis Snelling Sr. of Raleigh died Wednesday, April 20, 2005. funeral service was Saturday, April 23, at Lea Funeral Home. Burial was at Carolina Biblical Gardens.

Surviving: daughters, Mary E. Barrington of Connecticut, Martha L. Carson of Florida, Cora L. Davis and Doris S. Cooke, both of Raleigh, Delores J. Jones of Rolesville, Patricia A. Davis and Mildred M. Stewart, both of Raleigh; son, Jimmy E. Snelling of Knightdale; 30 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Dover Johnson Tant

Dover Johnson Tant, 82, of Zebulon, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at her home. funeral service was Sunday, April 24, at Union Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Jean Tant.

Surviving: husband, Lonnie A. Tant of the home; daughters, Brenda Tant Perry of Knightdale, Patricia Tant Pollard of Smithfield; sons, Lonnie Elton Tant of Zebulon, Robert Lee Tant of Zebulon, Donald Ray Tant of Fuquay; sisters, Pauline Tant of Zebulon, Geraldine Alford of Slidell, Va., Carroll Johnson Lewis of Middlesex; brothers, Douglas Johnson of Knightdale, William Earl Johnson of Zebulon; grandchildren, Chris Tant, Ryan Perry, Scott Tant, Kelly Costello, Kyle Costello; great-grandchildren, Brittany Renee Tant, Zachary Elton Tant, Jeron Ryan Perry.

Eva Ann Wethington

Eva Ann Wethington, formerly Eva Ann Whitford, 67, of Wilson, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Wilson Medical Center. funeral service was Monday, April 25, at Lancaster Funerals and Cremations chapel. Burial was at Bunn Cemetery.

Surviving: husband, Roy W. Wethington; daughter, Debra Ann Williams and husband Steve of Zebulon; son, Phillip Bruce Whitford and wife Susie of Bunn; stepsons, Mark Eugene Wethington and wife Susie of Wilson, Eric Wright Wethington and wife Doretha of Wilson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Fred D. Wellman

Fred D. Wellman, 90, of Zebulon, died Friday, April 22, 2005. funeral service was Monday, April 25, at Bright Funeral Home chapel, Wake Forest. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Boyd County, Ky., son of the late Myrtie Thompson Wellman and John H. Wellman. He was preceded in death by his wives, Eula Wellman and Iradell Warren Wellman; son, Bobby Wellman; brothers, Worthy, Beecher, John and Paul Wellman; and sisters, Lula Filmore, Ruby Messersmith, Ruth Barber, Alyse Brown and Kate McAllister. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving: stepdaughter, Sylena Edwards and husband Donnie of Spring Hope; stepson, John Warren of Zebulon; step-grandson, Jason Edwards of Eugene, Ore.

Nevassie L. Champion

Nevassie Lewis Champion, 70, a resident of Glenwood Towers, Raleigh, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Rex Hospital Hospice after a short stay at Guardian Care in Zebulon. funeral service was Thursday, April 21, at Pilot Baptist Church. Burial was at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Franklin County May 5, 1934, youngest daughter of Ora B. and Bennie E. Lewis. She was preceded in death by her son, Blaine Watkins; and sister, Janice L. Taylor. She retired from Devil Dog Manufacturing Co. in 1998.

Surviving: brothers, Balbus F. and wife Norma Lewis, and Reginald and wife Marie Lewis of Zebulon, Keyvin and wife Eleanor Lewis of Middlesex; sister, Merle L. and husband Curt Wideman of Pinehurst; numerous nieces and nephews; special longtime friends, Linda Peoples, Wayne Prince, Mary Huff and family, Pearl Lamm and family of Raleigh.

Cindy L. Joyner, 46, of Middlesex, died Saturday, April 23, 2005. Arrangements by Spring Hope Funeral Home, Spring Hope.

Willie E. Harris

Willie E. Harris, 79, of Wake Forest, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005. Funeral was Saturday, April 23, at Christ Holiness Church, Jonesville. Burial was at New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery, Rolesville.

Emma Kent

Emma Kent, 80, of Wilson, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005. Funeral was Sunday, April 24, at William Toney's Funeral Home chapel, Zebulon. Burial was at Middlesex Memorial Gardens.

Marie Davis Harris

Marie D. Harris, 80, of Spring Hope, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount after a long and courageous battle with failing health. Funeral was Thursday, March 31, at Cedar Rock Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born February 11, 1925, in Franklin County. In 1942, she was united in marriage to Wilmon Harris who preceded her in death. To this marriage, nine children were born. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cedar Rock Baptist Church in Franklin County where she remained a faithful member until her health began to seriously decline. She moved to New Jersey with her family in 1963 where she lived and worked in various jobs until she returned in 1972. While in New Jersey, she faithfully attended Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark, N.J.

Surviving: sons, Arthur “Pete” L. Harris of the home, James E. Harris and wife Justine of Montclair, N.J.; daughters, Maristene Lee of Raleigh, Brenda H. Smith and husband Tommie of Willow Springs, Delphine Harris of the home, Willa Harris of Newark, N.J., Joyce Harrelson and husband Clarence of Fuquay-Varina; sisters-in-law, Susie Harris of Spring Hope, Alice Davis of Newport News, Va., Sarah Ricks of Raleigh; brother-in-law, Sam Harris Jr. of Spring Hope; 19 grandchildren; 16-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
