Corinne L. Hudson
Corinne Elizabeth Lawrence Hudson, 91, of Murfreesboro, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, after a short illness. Graveside service was Wednesday, June 29, at the Southall-Lawrence family cemetery, Murfreesboro.
She was born in Murfreesboro, a daughter of the late Carl Capehart and Bessie Hancock Lawrence. She was a member of Murfreesboro United Methodist Church and a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dwight Loveland Hudson.
Surviving: daughters, Susan Hudson Nixon and husband James I. of Zebulon, Elizabeth Hudson Lester and husband Lawrence Ted of Meadowview, Va.; sister, Emily Southall Lawrence of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Deborah Frances Nixon of Zebulon, Sarah Southall Nixon of Columbia, Dwight Lawrence Lester of Blacksburg, Va.

Larry Bruce Cozart
Larry Bruce “Cozy” Cozart, 55, of Raleigh, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Rex Healthcare after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Memorial service was Tuesday, June 21, at L. Harold Poole funeral service chapel, Knightdale.
He was born Aug. 11, 1949, in Wake County. He was preceded in death by his father, Leeman Bruce Cozart. He attended Knightdale schools, graduating from Vaiden Whitley High School. He was a senior mechanic with Progress Energy.
Surviving: wife, Jackie Eure Cozart; daughter, Amanda Paige Cozart Smith of Sanford; grandson, Gregory Bruce Cozart Smith; mother, Ada Lee W. Cozart of Knightdale; sisters, Josie Cozart of Raleigh, Mona Cozart of Washington; nephew, Andrew Chappell.

Zelma Jeffords Mangum
Zelma Jeffords Mangum, 79, of Zebulon, died early Saturday morning, June 18, 2005. funeral service was Monday, June 20, at Union Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was at the church cemetery.
She was born April 18, 1926, in Tennessee, the daughter of the late Ernest and Cornie Bell Gibson. She was the widow of Daniel Jeffords Sr. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy R. Jeffords.
Surviving: daughters, Brenda King and Faye Chalk, both of Zebulon; sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest and Shirley Jeffords of Clayton, Tommy and Cindy Jeffords of Wendell, Daniel and Lillian Jeffords of Zebulon; sister, Emma Jean Wilson of Monks Corner, S.C.; brother, George Gibson of Columbus, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Murray Gray Davis
Murray Gray Davis, 83, of Raleigh, died Friday evening, June 17, 2005, at WakeMed. funeral service was Monday, June 20, at L. Harold Poole funeral service chapel, Knightdale. Burial was at Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery.
He was born in Martin County June 21, 1921, son of the late William Mack and Lula Davis. He had retired from Wake County Public School System with the maintenance department. He served his country in the Navy during World War II.

Derrick Jeffreys, 10, of the Hilltop Home, formerly of Wendell, died Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Duke Medical Center. Memorial graveside service was Sunday, June 19, at Greenmount Cemetery in Wendell.
Surviving: foster parents, Steve and Diane Sledge of Wendell; his family at the Hilltop Home in Raleigh where he resided for the last three years.

Dorothy “Dot” F. Chamblee
Dorothy “Dot” Freeman Chamblee, 89, of Zebulon, died Wednesday afternoon, June 15, 2005. funeral service was Saturday, June 18, at Hales Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
A native of Nash County, she was born February 6, 1916, the daughter of the late John and Maggie Drake Freeman. She was a 58-year member of Hales Chapel Baptist Church where she taught and followed the words of the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 26 years, Frank S. Chamblee; son, Ronald Frank Chamblee; and brother, Fred Freeman.
Surviving: son, Rick Chamblee and wife Susan of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Chamblee of Raleigh; brothers, LaVern Freeman of Nashville, Drake Freeman and wife Rachel Lynn of Castalia; sisters, Jo Overby of Hampton, Va., Alice Williamson of Newport News, Va.; grandchildren, Cheryl Chamblee of Durham, Lisa and Keith Miller of Raleigh, Kenneth and Erin Chamblee of Raleigh, Jack Pappas of Alabama, Eric and Alec Chamblee of Raleigh; family friend, Mihir Patel of Chapel Hill; several nieces and nephews.

Thomas L. Fennell
Thomas “Tom” Leon Fennell, 62, of Zebulon, died Sunday afternoon, June 12, 2005, at Rex Healthcare after a brief illness. A funeral Mass was Thursday, June 16, at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, Wendell.
He was born January 25, 1943, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the son of the late Elmer and Julia Fennell. He was a retired electronics engineer with Griffiss Air Force Base. He was a graduate of Union College and the University of Southern California. He was a former member of the Rome Rotary Club in New York and was past president of the Zebulon Rotary Club. He coached the youth bowling league in Clayton and was a member of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church in Wendell.
Surviving: wife, Karen J. Fennell; daughter, Cheryl Ann Carroll of Schenectady, N.Y.; sister, Barbara Fago of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; three grandchildren.

Sandra Swinson Croom
Sandra “Sandie” Swinson Croom, 60, of Raleigh, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Rex Hospital Hospice Unit after a valiant five-year battle with cancer. funeral service was Monday, June 13, at Forest Hills Baptist Church, Raleigh. Burial was in Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
A native of Mt. Olive, she was born January 25, 1945, daughter of the late Lona Lee Swinson and Weldon Bryant Swinson. She was a graduate of North Duplin High School. Her community involvement included serving as a Girl Scout leader at Forest Hills Baptist Church, where she was a member. She also was past president of both the N.C. Optometric Auxiliary, and the Triangle National Foundation of Ileitis and Colitis.
Surviving: husband of 36 years, Dr. Clyde E. Croom; daughter, Candice Lane Croom of the home; son, Edward “Eddie” Lee Croom and wife Emily Burkhart of Raleigh; grandchildren, Abigail “Abbie” Peace Croom, Maizie Gaia Croom; sister and brother-in-law, Kaye and Doug Massey of Mount Olive; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles “Charlie” and Elsie Swinson of Mt. Olive, Steve and Virginia “Ginny” Swinson of Charlotte; a large extended family and many beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Fred Roberson and Malcolm Monroe Byrd; and son, Joe Wayne Roberson.

Mary Lue Gibson, 63, of Knightdale, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005. funeral service was Saturday, June 18, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Burial was at Raleigh Memorial Park.
A native of Guilford County, she was born Aug. 29, 1941, daughter of the late J.W. and Geneva McQueen Thomas. She was the former owner of Scoops Ice Cream Shop on Main Street, Garner. She was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Reese; and brothers, Marshall Edwards and James Edwards.
