Harold Warren Caviness, 72, of Bennett, died Thursday, (03-28-2013) at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, (04-01-2013) at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Bennett, with Rev. Mark Strickland, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Harold, a native of Randolph County was a graduate of Bennett High School, retired owner and operator of C’s Convenient Store in Bennett and a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Brown Caviness, brothers, Junior Caviness and Richard Caviness. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Brady Caviness; sons, Anthony Caviness, Garrett Caviness, all of Bennett; and three grandchildren. WILLIAM “TONY” HILL
Mr. William “Tony” Hill 61, of Robbins, passed away Thursday, (03-28-2013) at his home. Funeral services were held Saturday, (03-30-2013) at 2 p.m. at High Falls Friends Church with Pastor Ben Hurley and Rev. Robert L. Kidd officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Hill was a Moore County native and retired from Ingersoll Rand where he worked as a machinist. He was a member of High Falls Friends Church. Survivors include his wife, Vickie Maness Hill of the home; daughters, Tammy Renee Barnes of Locust, Millicent V. King of Carthage; mother, Beatrice Shields Hill of Bennett; and five grandchildren.

Camden Michael and Caleb Daniel Brady, infant sons of Phillip and Rebecca Miller Brady of Garner passed away Wednesday, (03-27-2013) at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, and will be announced by Joyce-Brady Chapel.

Mrs. Mary Lucille Morris Farrell, 86, of Pittsboro, died Monday, (04-01-2013) at Cambridge Hills in Pittsboro. The celebration of life service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, (04-03-2013) at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ, with Pastor Bob Wachs presiding. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Farrell was born in Rockingham on April 15, 1926, a daughter of James Michael Morris and Maude Poplin Morris. She retired from Chatham Mills after 40 plus years of service. Mrs. Farrell was a member of Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter Gail Collins of Pittsboro; sons, Lacy Farrell of Chapel Hill, Mike Farrell of Sanford; brother, John Wayland Farrell of Pittsboro; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Farrell was predeceased by her husband, Clifton Howard Farrell, a brother and a sister. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park #10, Raleigh, NC 27615.

CHARLENE EVANS RAVEN
Charlene Evans Raven, 48, passed away peacefully March 28, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ahoskie on June 4, 1964, Charlene graduated from Ridgecroft School in 1982 and received an Associates Degree in Computer Programming from Roanoke-Chowan Technical College in 1985. She lived in Reidsville, NC for many years before moving to Suffolk, VA in June 2011. Charlene was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and enriched the lives of many with her wonderful laugh and sparkling gorgeous eyes. A woman of many achievements and talents, Charlene’s main passion was spending time with family and friends. Possessing an uncompromising passion for education, she worked as an educator in the Rockingham County Head Start Program. Although her illness progressed, in 2011 she continued her education by achieving her second Associates Degree in the field of Early Childhood Education from Rockingham Community College. A member of Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Charlene’s beautiful voice could be heard in the choir. She served as Assistant Girls Scout Leader for her twin daughters Girl Scout troop and enjoyed many hobbies, including arts and crafts, sewing and couponing. Surviving are her husband, Gary Raven, Sr.; mother, Mary Knight Linkous and husband, David; father, Ron Evans and wife, Nanci, 4 Pineforest Drive, Siler City; sisters, Robin Evans Burkett and husband, Dale, Amy Evans Hardy and husband, John; brother, Tom Linkous and wife, Kelly. Charlene will be missed by her children, John Raven and wife, Heather, Gary Raven, Alex Matelski, Matt Raven, Jenny Raven and Janie Raven; her three grandchildren, Jaclynn Raven, Regan Dudley, and R.J. Matelski; a niece, Jessica Rae Burkett; and two nephews, Jarrett Dale Burkett, and Ethan John Hardy. Charlene was preceded in death by maternal-grandparents E.B. Knight Sr., and Janie Knight Ozmore; and paternal grandparents, Jessie R. Evans, and Fruzzie Rebecca Evans. Mr. Bobby Ray Crouse, 60, of Burlington died at Duke University Medical Center on Tuesday, (04-02-2013). The funeral service will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, (04-05-2013) at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Silk Hope. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 25 years to Sylvia Crouse, who survives. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Josephine Louise Fields, 80, of Sam Fields Road, Siler City died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation. Ms. Fields was born in Chatham County on February 15, 1933, the daughter of Sam John and Lillie (Braswell) Fields. She had been a secretary at Chatham Novelties, Siler City , and had worked at Bill’s Good Food. Josephine was of the Christian faith and was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Maggie Fields, Doris Groce and a special friend, Billy Dixon. She is survived by nephews, Sam Groce and wife Julie, Doug Groce; niece, Janet Groce; and great-niece, Kaylyn Groce, all of Siler City. The family received friends Friday, March 29, 2013 at the home of Sam Groce, 620 Sam Fields Road, Siler City from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Janet Groce, 884 Sam Fields Road. There was a graveside memorial service on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Rev. Darrell Bordeaux officiating. Kitty Hackney White, 88, of Wilmington, wife of 63 years to the late Robert Bailey White, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born in Chatham County on September 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Junious James “J.J.” and Kate Marks Hackney. She was a member of Pittsboro United Methodist Church and formerly worked at the Institute of Government at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill until her retirement to Wilmington. Surviving are her son, Robert “Biff” White (Denise) of Wilmington; daughter, Patsy Perkins (Arthur “Perk”) of Pittsboro; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn White, Mesha Batts, Chance Perkins; and a great-grandson, Dalton Batts. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Brant M. Hackney. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Haywood Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Moncure. ROY LARRY SILER
Roy Larry Siler, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away March 28, 2013 while at home surrounded by family. Larry was born on May 17, 1939 in Siler City, North Carolina where he met his wonderful wife of 51 years, Becky. After serving his country in the United States Navy, Larry began a long and successful 32-year career at Xerox Corporation which took his family from North Carolina, to Atlanta, Georgia, to Houston, Texas, then on to Trophy Club, Texas. Following his retirement from Xerox, Larry then served as CEO and President of WTS, Inc. in Arlington, Texas until he fully retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1999. Larry spent his life devoted to his family and friends, was an avid golfer, and graciously served all the communities he lived in. During his retirement in Hot Springs, when Larry was not on the golf course with friends or visiting family, he served as treasurer at Mountainside United Methodist Church , served on the Board of both the Townhouse Association and the Hot Springs Village Golf Association, and volunteered countless hours to tutor elementary students at nearby Fountain Lake Elementary School. Larry was a man of great character who made a positive impact on many lives and was loved by all who came to know him. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert W and Margaret Siler, and sister, Anne S. King. Larry is survived by his wife, Becky of Hot Springs Village; son, Richard Siler and wife Shannon of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Lynn Olson and husband Brian of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren: Megan Olson of Houston, Texas, and Lauren, Brandon, Brooke, and Peyton Siler of McKinney, Texas. He is also survived by brothers, Robert and wife Helen, Will and wife Ann, Tony and wife Ginny, Richard “Sandy” and wife Jean; sisters, Norma Thompson, Debby Stewart and husband Doug, and Susan Phillips, all residing inNorth Carolina; also numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3rd at Mountainside United Methodist Church , 301 El Cano Drive, Hot Springs Village, AR71909, with a reception following the service at the church.
