Janiece Keller Lowe, 94, of Sam Lowe Road, Siler City died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City. Mrs. Lowe was born in Chatham County on February 2, 1919, the daughter of Murphy and Susie (Cooper) Keller. She was a homemaker, a member of Rocky River Friends Meeting and the Believers Sunday School Class. Janiece enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride in her garden and yard work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel B. Lowe; brothers, Garland and Carlos Keller; sisters, Gertrude Wicker and Inez Moon. She is survived by two daughters, Linda L. McPherson and husband Jimmy, Shirley L. Williams and husband Bobby; two sons, Wayne Lowe and wife Pat, James Lowe and wife Sylvia, all of Siler City; two sisters, Nannie Mae Hinshaw of Siler City, Lottie Carter of Liberty; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The visitation was held Monday April 15, 2013 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Rocky River Friends Meeting, 1795 Staley-Snow Camp Road, Siler City. The funeral followed at 2 p.m. with David Hobson and Jim Folks officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. LEONARD “LENNIE” C. ELLIS, JR.
Leonard “Lennie” C. Ellis, Jr., 74, of Glenn Allen, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Esther Ellis; brothers, Brady and Tommy Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Cindy E. Ellis; his children, Dee Ellis Miller (Jerry), Clay Ellis III (Kelley), Dennis Ellis; and their mother, Bonnie Dorsey Lee; children, Michael Ellis (Jeanine), Mark Ellis (Amber), Danny Ellis (Sharon); and their mother, Shirley Ellis; stepdaughter, Katie Phillips; grandchildren, Casey and Chris Rudolph, Stephanie, Chris and Samantha Miller, Clay IV, Chad, Catie and Corey (Lindsey) Ellis; Jonathan Ellis, Kevin (Michelle), Brooke and Sarah Ellis, Allen and Cutch Ellis, Brendan, Brian, Morgan, Madison and Sumerlyn Ellis; great-grandchildren, Autumn Midget, James and Garrett Miller, Neleah, Haven, and Laken Ellis; sister, Beverly Fowler; brothers, Stewart Ellis; and beloved dog, Baby. Lennie was a local businessman and entrepreneur. He was also a musician and pilot. He was the owner of Able Equipment Company, Ellis Financial Corporation, and Ellis Warehouse Mini Storage. He was past chairman of the Aviation Board of Virginia, a member of Glen Allen #131 Masonic Lodge and ACCA Temple. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ashland, VA. He loved to travel, especially to Key West where he had a second home. Lennie was generous and kind and never met a stranger. Visitation and funeral service was held at First Baptist Church, 800 Thompson Street, Ashland, Va. Visitation was held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 16. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. Interment followed in Westhampton Memorial Park. NANCY STOREY REITZEL
Nancy Storey Reitzel, Siler City, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Galax, Virginia. She was a secretary, bookkeeper, and homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Siler City, where she was active in the Methodist women’s group and as a nursery helper. She was also active in square and round dancing. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Donna of Beltsville, Maryland, and Douglas and Kim of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren, Emma, Georgia, Garrett and Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and David Jackson of Burlington; and brother, Allen Storey, also of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Baxter P. Reitzel, Jr.; sisters and brother, Adaline Storey, Fran Storey Dillingham, Ruby Storey Robertson and Marvin Storey. A graveside memorial service was held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City with Rev. Clyde Denny officiating. The family received friends at the First United Methodist Church beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Twin County Hospice, 818 Glendale Road, Galax, Virginia 24333 or to First United Methodist Church , P O Box 212, Siler City, NC 27344. ROBERT ERNEST WILLETT
Robert Ernest Willett, 77, of Gulf, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford. Mr. Willett was a native of Chatham County, the son of the late Bill and Blanche Willett. He was retired from Allied Signal. He loved his family and friends and had never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Willett. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Willett and wife Jeanette of Gulf; daughter, Carrie Hooker and husband Paul of Goldston; son, Randy and wife Jennifer of Gulf; daughter, Tabitha Clack and husband Bryan of Broadway; son, Robert A. Willett of San Diego, CA; one brother, Bill Willett of Sanford; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you give a donation to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Cape Fear Crematory.
MILLIE YOW GADDY
Mrs. Millie Yow Gaddy, 62, of Sanford, died Tuesday, (04-02-2013), at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. The funeral was held Friday, (04-05-2013), at 2 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Humphreys and Rev. Royce Baker officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Gaddy was born in Lee County, on April 29, 1950, to the late Leon Yow and Ruth Cameron Yow. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse. Survivors include her husband, Frank Gaddy; step-son, Tripp Gaddy of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Donna Yow Matthews of Stone Mountain, Georgia; and two grandchildren.
HAROLD HORVATH
Mr. Harold Horvath, 81, of Carthage, passed away Monday, (03-18-2013) at First-Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Interment will take place Saturday, (04-13-2013) at 10:30 a.m. at Putnam Friends Cemetery and a memorial service will take place in the church sanctuary at 11. Survivors include a sister, Helen A. Black of Pennsylvania.
BETTY MENDENHALL TERRY
Betty Mendenhall Terry, 72, of South Second Avenue, Siler City died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Terry was born in Chatham County on April 4, 1941, the daughter of Junius C. and Irene (Brewer) Mendenhall. She was a graduate of Jordan-Matthews High School and a member of Rocky River Baptist Church. Betty made a career in banking, beginning with Chatham Bank, which became First Union. She held several positions and retired as a customer service representative. Betty was a “people person, ” always going the extra mile to lend support or words of encouragement. She volunteered countless hours serving the West Chatham Relay for Life as accounting chairperson, crocheting afghans for raffles, dish towels as gifts to survivors and filling any position where assistance was needed. She represented Siler City and Chatham County well where ever she traveled on behalf of Relay. Betty was preceded in death by an infant son, Virgil Lee Terry; her parents and a brother, Mike Mendenhall. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Terry of the home; one daughter, Kathy Terry of Matthews; one brother, J. C. Mendenhall, Jr. of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Friday, April 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City with Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. JAMES C. BOONE
Mr. James C. Boone, 88, of Pittsboro died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his home. James was born in Chatham County on February 26, 1925 to the late Jarvis and Mozelle Boone. He served his country in WW II as a B-29 pilot, in the Pacific and was awarded a Bronze Star and an Air Medal. James spent his remaining working years as a building contractor and farmer. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Margie Seymour Boone; daughters, Betty Griffin and husband Gene of Sanford, Jo Ann Thomas and husband Eddie of Pittsboro; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family received friends at Hall –Wynne funeral service, Pittsboro from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013. A funeral service was held at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ in Pittsboro at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of Hall-Wynne funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro.

Patricia “Paty” William Karstaedt was born July 17, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA. Paty departed from us on Sunday April 7, 2013 at her home in Sanford, NC, due to her battle with cancer. She graduated from Cary High. She was preceded in death by her son, Justin Allen Williams, age two days; biological father Ray Eger of PA; and her father Ralph Crnkovic of NC. Paty is survived by her husband, Peter John Karstaedt; sons, Nathan William Karstaedt (Dusti Leigh Jones) and Peter Austin Karstaedt of Sanford; granddaughter, Katelyn Jean Karstaedt; grandson, Robert Scott Jones; mother, Lorraine Grubb and husband Curt Grubb of SC; brothers Raymond Crnkovic (Monika Hale) of FL, Randy Crnkovic (Lucy Crnkovic) and Eric Crnkovic of NC. She loved to read and spend time with family and friends. She also loved sitting by the fireplace, listening to music such as The Beatles, The Monkeys, with Tom Petty being her favorite of all. The family will receive friends at Hall-Wynne Funeral home in Pittsboro from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013. Garner - Camden Michael and Caleb Daniel Brady, infant sons of Philip and Rebecca Miller Brady of Garner, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh. Private graveside services were conducted Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Bennett Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Tim Strider officiating. In addition to their parents, they are survived by maternal grandparents, Rod and Vickie Miller of PA.; paternal grandparents, Michael and Darlene Brady of Bennett; great-grandparents, Dora Lash of WV., Ruby Brady of Bennett, and Frank and Sylvia Brown of Siler City.

Alma Joyce Johnson Lineberry, 77, of 2459 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation. Mrs. Lineberry was born in Chatham County on February 7, 1936, the daughter of David A. and Allie (Burke) Johnson. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Junior Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Layton L. Lineberry of the home; three daughters, Pamela McPherson and husband Ronnie “Mac” of Snow Camp, Rachel Cox of Siler City, Karen Edwards of Siler City; six sisters, Magaline Allred of Asheboro, Shirley Thompson of Yorba Linda, CA, Ruth Smith of Siler City, Linda Welch of Siler City, Judy Luther of Asheboro, Toni Coore of Mt. Vernon Springs; four brothers, Buck Johnson of Siler City, Archie Johnson, Jr. of Franklinville, Johnny Johnson of Siler City, Keith Johnson of Snow Camp; grandchildren, Chris McPherson, Donna Houtchings, Crystal Richardson, Joy Elfahla, Brittany Gobble, Dustin Cox; great-grandchildren, Aulden and Kailyn Richardson, Alex, Austin and Madison Elfahla and Xavier Gobble.
