The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Crowe’s Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Ruppe and Charles Cobb officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. SHELBY — Mrs. Minnie Mae Wilson Saddler, 77, of 410 Highland Ave., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at her home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Genesis Funeral Service and Chapel.

CHERRYVILLE — Mrs. Odessa Blanche McGinnis Beam, 93, of 304 E. Academy St., died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at her home. A graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in City Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Poe officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Carpenters Funeral home and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 800 N. Pink St., Cherryville, NC 28021; or to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

SHELBY — Ms. Shemeka Twaun Harris, 21, of 916 Fox Croft Circle, Apartment B, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

FOREST CITY — Mrs. Anne Latham Boozer, 64, of 211 Eastview Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital. A graveside service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Wayne Ratliff officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Padgett and King Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 880, Forest City, NC 28043.

Betty Fulton
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Betty Morgan Fulton, 57, of 143 Yarbro Road, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Dorcus Daves Morgan, and was preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Morgan. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Gastonia and a homemaker. She is survived by two sons, Andrew Stephen Fulton and wife, Misty, and Samuel Jason Fulton, all of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Angie F. Shuda and husband, Tommy, of Gastonia; a sister, Shirley Wright and husband, J.L., of Shelby; and two grandchildren, Brad and Derrick Shuda. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel of Harris Funeral Home, with Dr. John Sloan officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Stanley Fred Bridges, 43, of 207 Phifer Circle, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kings Mountain Baptist Church, with Dr. Jeff L. Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his parents, 205 Phifer Circle, Kings Mountain.

FOREST CITY — Mr. Merlin Thomas Jarrell, 75, of 109 North Woodland Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Smith Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Vess officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at The Padgett and King Mortuary.

CHARLOTTE — Mr. Mills Alvin Borders, 51, of 3853 Moss Croft Lane, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at University Hospital in Charlotte. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

SHELBY — Mr. Larry Lee Mayhew, 52, of 3656 W. Dixon Blvd., died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Fain Morrison and David Acuff officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home. Joan Bridges
SHELBY — Mrs. Joan Martin Bridges, 63, of 4102 Fallston Road, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Hospice of Cleveland County. Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Bennett Martin and Buena Grigg Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Martin; two sisters, Inez Whitaker and Dorothy McDonald; and a niece, Sandra Ingle. She is survived by her husband, Gene Austin Bridges of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry B. and Michael Steven Tessener of Kings Mountain; a grandson and granddaughter, Tripper D. Scism and Amber D. Scism of Cherryville; two great-grandchildren, T.J. and Ethan Scism of Gastonia; five sisters, Ruth Scism, Mildred Martin and Shirley McKee of Shelby, Mabel Conder of Charlotte and Irene Mizell of Kernersville; and a loving niece, Diane Proctor. The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randy Bridges and Allen Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family received friends Sunday at Cleveland Funeral Services, which is in charge of arrangements, and will be at the home. Bobby Lee Harrison
FOREST CITY — Mr. Bobby Lee Harrison, 69, of 179 Crawley Drive, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Lee and Estelle Beason Harrison. He retired from Spartanburg Steel. He belonged to Cliffside Masonic Lodge and Cliffside Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Edna Daves Harrison of the home; one son, Rodney Harrison of Ellenboro; one daughter, Rhonda Sullivan of Henrietta; four brothers, Jack Harrison of Greenville, S.C.; and Don Harrison, Jerry Harrison and Ted Harrison, all of Mooresboro; three sisters, Betty Hamrick of Greenville, Jean Penson of Easley, S.C. and Gay Bridges of Lattimore; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cliffside Cemetery, with Masonic rites. The Revs. Larry Fleming and Charlie Blackwell will officiate. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home in Cliffside. Memorials may be made to Cliffside Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 336, Cliffside, NC 28024. CINCINNATI, Ohio — Mrs. Carrie Lue Thomas white Farley, 105, of 1327 Riviera Place, formerly of Lincolnton, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at Mercy Franciscan Hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at noon at New Sardis Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Levi Salem officiating. Burial will be in Vine Street Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. RUTHERFORDTON — Mrs. Eula Jeanette Smith Brackett, 90, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Piney Knob Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jerry Campbell and Bill Walls officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery in Forest City. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crowe’s Mortuary in Rutherfordton.

MOORESBORO — Mrs. Jeanette Thompson Gentry, 68, of 437 Gantts Grove Road, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Dover officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Jeanette Gentry
MOORESBORO — Mrs. Jeanette Thompson Gentry, 68, of 437 Gantts Grove Road, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby. She was the daughter of the late Earnest and Argatha Thompson McKinzie and a native of Cleveland County. She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church, where she served in the Senior Missionary Department and was a former member of the Senior Choir. She was employed by Cone Mills in Cliffside for 26 years until her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry Gentry; and a daughter-in-law, Sylvia Gentry. She leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband, George Gentry; four daughters, Geneva Gentry of Grover, Georgina Hopper of Shelby, Lula Patterson of Earl and Regina Smith of Forest City; two sons, Craig Gentry of Winston-Salem and Ernie Gentry of Boiling Springs, one brother, Leonard McKinzie of Shelby; a special aunt, Tecora Gill of Shelby; three daughters-in-law, Annette Gentry, Vanessa Gentry and Yvonne Gentry; fours sons-in-law, Van Hopper, James Patterson, Fitzgerald Smith and Rufus Smith; her stepmother, Annie McKinzie; she reared Wyshena Gentry, O’Neil Gentry and Chadwick Gentry; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Maple Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Dover officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

CHERRYVILLE — The Rev. Julius “Jim” Miles Crumpton, 68, of 203 Lee Black Road, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Victory Life Assembly of God with the Revs. Larry Johnson, and Keyth Lindsey and David Crumpton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park. CAROLEEN — Ms. Lucy W. Rogers, 85, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Willow Ridge Nursing Center. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Hill AME Zion Church with Elder James A. McDougal officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Billy Gibson
BLACKSBURG, S.C. — Mr. Billy Lowery Gibson, 76, of 248 Pleasant Hill Road, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Olin D. and Tricola Rippy Gibson. He was a retired textile employee, member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blacksburg, member of Buffalo Masonic Lodge No. 202 AFM in Blacksburg and served in the Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Peggy C. White Gibson; four sons, Barry, Dennis and Scott Gibson, all of Blacksburg, and Danny Gibson of Belmont; two daughters, Rhonda Wright and Robin Gibson of Blacksburg; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, J.D. Gibson of Blacksburg; and two sisters, Faye Williams of Rock Hill, S.C., and Nellie LeFevers of Shelby. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg with the Rev. Alister McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.
