DONNA ATKINSON HOWARD
Donna Atkinson Howard, 51, of Rocky Mount died Sunday, (11-04-2012).
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday (11-10-2012) at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pittsboro.
Donna was born February 3, 1961 in Erwin to Archie and Frances Atkinson. Her father and brother, Archie Ray Atkinson preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Amber Moize of Mebane; mother, Frances Atkinson of Pittsboro; sister, Janet Bryant of Sanford; and one granddaughter.
MARY FRANCES SPIVEY
Mary Frances Spivey, 97, of Sanford died Sunday, (11-11-2012) at her residence.
The funeral was held Wednesday, (11-14-2012), at 11 a.m. at Shallow Well Church with Rev. Donald Thompson presiding. The family received friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Spivey was born in Chatham County on April 2, 1915 to the late George Carlton Cole and Minnie Louise Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Ralph Spivey; six brothers, George, Page, Hugh, Ernest, Wade, Jack Cole and a sister, Lena Cole Luck.
Surviving are her son Ralph Spivey of Sanford; daughters Brenda Spivey Marsh and Barbara Spivey Finch Poole, both of Sanford; brother, Robert W. Cole of Sanford; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

DEBORAH LYNNE JOHNSON PATTERSON
Deborah Lynne Johnson Patterson, 56, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, from a long battle with leukemia.
She was born January 30, 1956 in Siler City, NC, daughter of Hugh Monroe and Eulala Lewis Johnson. She married Frederick Asbury Patterson, Jr. on January 6, 1980 at First Wesleyan Church in Siler City.
Fred and her surviving children, Sara Malisa Patterson, Brent Frederick Patterson, Avery Lynne Patterson, and Tiffany Lynn Patterson live on Brookmeade Drive in Winston-Salem. Her surviving brothers are, Larry (Faye) Johnson of Asheboro, Donald (Carol) Johnson of Siler City, and Gerald (Judy) Johnson of Greensboro. Debbi has many nieces and nephews.
Debbi graduated from Jordan-Matthews High School in Siler City in 1974, Davidson Community College in 1976, and High Point University with a BA in English in 1978. She formerly worked as a Sports Writer for the Forsyth Suburbanite and the Greensboro Record. She also formerly worked as a Marketing Assistant for Guilford Technical Community College and was Vice President/Secretary for Patterson Financial Designs, Inc. Her most recent employment was as a Community Director for the Greater Triad Chapter of the March of Dimes Foundation.
The family gratefully acknowledges the compassion and professional care that Debbi received by the following: Dr Bayard Powell and Katherine Pearsall, PA., of the outpatient Comprehensive Cancer Center and the nursing staff’s of 9th floor Ardmore and the BMT Unit of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
A celebration of life service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2012 at College Park Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Reverend Ramon Smith will officiate along with the Reverend Larry Johnson and Reverend David Sjoberg. Visitation followed the service in the fellowship hall at the church.
Debbi touched the lives of everyone she met and was and is a model mother and wife. Praise be to God that she is finally cancer free and with her heavenly father.

JAMES RAY MARKHAM
James Ray Markham, 66, of Pittsboro, died Friday, November 9, 2012, at UNC Hospital.
A native of Chatham County, James was born to the late Lawrence Ray Markham and Lina Ruth Horton. An ironworker by trade, James grew up farming. After retiring, you could find him working on lawnmowers, sharpening lawnmower blades, or building grills. Known to many as “Buddy-Row”, he was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and “Junior”. One of his favorite past-times was playing scratch-off lottery tickets.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon King and his grandson, Lukas Bolejack.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, the former Donna E. Williams; son, Kent Markham and wife Teresa of Pittsboro; daughters, Patricia Goodwin and husband Jeff of Apex, Jaime Riddle and husband Rickey of Pittsboro, Kelly Bolejack and husband Chad, also of Pittsboro; a brother, Randy Markham of Apex; a sister, Debbie Sanders of Pittsboro; and nine grandchildren.
A service to honor the life and memory of James was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Hall-Wynne funeral service in Pittsboro, with the Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. A reception followed. Burial was private.
DONALD R. LESTER
Heaven got a sweet angel!
Donald R. Lester, 73, of Siler City passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell in Burlington.
Born in Long Pole, West Virginia, he was a retired coal miner and truck driver. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Chambers) Lester; two daughters, Donna Harrelson (Brett) of Snow Camp, Tracy Teague (James) of Siler City; grandchildren, Cody and Aryana Teague of Siler City and Taylor Harrelson of Snow Camp; brothers and sisters, Karen Click, Kenny Lester, Jackie Lester, Charles Lester, all of Iaegar, WV and Geraldine Smith of Noxapater, MS. He was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Frankie Lester and two sisters, Anna Lester and Norma Lester Roberts.
The family will receive friends at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David King and Rev. Phillip Nelson officiating. Inurnment will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City.
The family would like to thank the Hospice Home and UNC Hospitals, friends and family for the loving care, support and prayers.

Sanford - Christopher Brody Coble, age 28, died Friday (11-02-2012).
No services are planned.
Mr. Coble was born in Orange County and was a contractor.
Surviving is his father, Bobby Glenn Coble of Sarasota, Florida; mother, Donna Jordan Bowmer of Sanford; sisters, Courtnie Smith of Raeford, Kindra Bowmer of Sanford; maternal grandparents, Ronald Jordan and Rachel Jordan of Siler City.
MARY LOU HIGGINS
Mary Lou Higgins, 86, passed away at UNC Medical Hospital on Monday, (11-05-2012).
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, (11-07-2012) at Bynum United Methodist Church Cemetery off US Hwy 15-501.
KATHLEEN BREWER WILLIAMS
Kathleen Brewer Williams of Siler City, daughter of the late Hunter McGuire and Alice Powers Brewer died November 3, 2012.
Born in Chatham County, October 3, 1927 she attended Bennett High School and St. Leo’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in the Class of 1948.
Kathleen was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class.
Preceded in death by husband, Richard A. Williams, Sr., Kathleen is survived by son, Richard A. Williams, Jr. of Jerome, Idaho and daughters, Susan W. Cutler of Twin Falls, Idaho and Kathryn Jane Bottoms (Jeff) of Bennett; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, all of the northwest; and her beloved companion Orsen.
Visitation was held Monday, November 5, 2012 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, with Chaplin Jamie Pierce and Reverend Tony Capehart officiating.

UKIE HALLMAN, SR.
Ukie Hallman, Sr., 79, of Sanford, died Saturday, (10-27-2012).
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, (10-30-2012) at Cumnock Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Dowdy and Merritt Taylor officiating. Burial followed at Cool Springs Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hallman worked for Saco-Lowell Company for 19 years. After that, he farmed full time. He attended Cumnock Baptist Church. Mr. Hallman was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Womack and Blanche Hallman Patterson and a son Ricky Dale Hallman.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Collins Hallman; sons, Ukie Hallman, Jr. of Angier, Andy Hallman of Asheboro, Timothy Hallman of Sanford; seven grandchildren and 16 great–grandchildren.

Mr. Kevin Davis, 24, of Siler City died Saturday, (10-27-2012).
Funeral services will be held Thursday (11-01-2012) at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
ROBERT WAYNE BOSTICK
Robert Wayne Bostick, 63, of Siler City died Sunday, (10-28-2012).
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, (10-30-2012) at Family Cemetery, Silk Hope.
Mr. Bostick was born April 24, 1949, the son of ChesterS. and Addie Mae Sanford Bostick. He was employed as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Zagurski Bostick.
DAVID KEITH McLAUGHLIN
David Keith McLaughlin 91, of Siler City died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Chatham Hospital, Inc. in Siler City.
Mr. McLaughlin was the son of William James and Mattie (Caviness) McLaughlin, and a native of Chatham County. Keith was a WW II veteran of the US Coast Guard and worked for Central Carolina Farmers and Bish Military Surplus. He was a life long member of First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Ligon McLaughlin.
Survivors include a daughter, ZoAnn Adams and husband, Sam of Siler City; sons, D. K. McLaughlin, Jr. and wife, Jan of Winston-Salem, Tom T. McLaughlin and wife, Cynde of Greensboro; grandchildren, Marti Canterbury and husband, Steven of Hickory, David McLaughlin III of Jamestown, Meghan McLaughlin of Greensboro, Caitlin McLaughlin of Wilmington and great-grandchildren, James and Jesse Canterbury and Cadence M. White.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Capehart officiating. Burial followed in Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City.

EMMA WILKIE BREWER
Emma Wilkie Brewer, 85, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Cambridge Hills, Pittsboro.
Mrs. Brewer was born December 26, 1926, the daughter of Archie and Ethel (Hilliard) Wilkie. She was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, O. L. “Pete” Brewer, brothers, Frank, Robert, and Rupert Wilkie and sister, Mae Gaines.
Emma is survived by daughter, Denise B. Thomas and husband, Jerry of Goldston; son, Larry Brewer of Siler City; sisters, Elma Hatch and husband, Tom of Durham, Frona Eads of Siler City, Mollie Woody and husband, Donald, Linda Wicker and husband, Eddie, all of Goldston; grandchildren, Jodi Hearn and husband, Barry, Natasha Cook and husband, Rodney, Jessica LaDronka and husband, Brad; great-grandchildren, Brayden Hearn and Madison Cook.
The family received friends Monday, October 29, 2012 from 11 to 3 p.m. at Providence Independent UMC, Providence Church Road, Siler City. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

BRENDA HACKNEY JOHNSON
At the age of 63, Brenda was taken home to be with the Angels. She is survived by children, Yvonne Isley of Burlington, Charles and Jo Nall of Bonlee, and BJ and Ashley Johnson of Gibsonville. Brenda was blessed with nine grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren.
Brenda is also survived by siblings Joe and Bobbie Jo Dwiggins, George Hackney, Greg Hackney, Glen Hackney, as well as Ricky and Pam Hackney.
She was preceded in death by husband Bobby H Johnson, and by parents, William and Vivian Hackney.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Pleasant Hill Baptist in Pittsboro on Saturday November 3 at 2 p.m.
JAMES DOYLE PERRY
James Doyle Perry, 62, of Siler City died Tuesday, (01-15-2013) at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
Mr. Perry was born in Chatham County on May 1, 1950, the son of Vance and Cara (Campbell) Perry. He was employed as a truck driver, transporting heavy equipment.
Survivors include daughters, Robin Perry of Shreveport, LA, Michelle Perry Iott of Bennettsville, SC; brother, Van Perry; half-sisters, Estelle Bowers of Siler City, Dellene Long of Aurora, Cleo Telas of Albuquerque, NM; and one grandson.
