BONNIE HUSSEY HILL
Mrs. Bonnie Hussey Hill, 93, of Bennett died Tuesday (02-23-2010) at her home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday (02-27-2010) at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Gelsthorpe, Rev. Joe Drum, and Rev. Todd Brown officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hill was a Moore County native, and a retired spinner with 28 years of service with Klopman Mills in Ramseur. She was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the W.M.U. and choir. She was the widow of J. B. Hill.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Hill Fortune of Burlington; son, Billy T. Hill of Kernersville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
GOLDIE EVELYN KIVETT
Goldie Evelyn Kivett, 92, Siler City died Thursday, (02-25-2010).
The funeral was held Sunday, (02-28-2010) at 2:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
Miss Kivett was born December 3, 1917, the daughter of Walter Raleigh and Maggie Florence McKeithan Kivett. She was a native of Chatham County, retired from Glendale Hosiery, and a member of Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Stedman, Roland and Harold; sisters, Lillie, Joyce and Betty.
She is survived by one brother, Hamuel “Hamp” Kivett of Bennett.
JOSIE LEE BALDWIN
Josie Lee Baldwin, 76, died Tuesday (02-23-2010).
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Terrell’s Chapel AME Zion Church.
Mrs. Baldwin was a native of Chatham County, the daughter of the late Charlie and Bertha Baldwin. She attended Chatham County Schools and was a member of Terrell’s Chapel AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the missionary department and the deacon board. She retired from Ketchum Laboratories and Enenemann’s Bakery in Long Island, NY.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Brown; sisters, Helen Baldwin, Annie Belle Baldwin, both of Pittsboro; brothers, Frank Baldwin, Clyde Baldwin, both of Burlington; and one grandchild.
CHARLES WINFRED “BUM” TRIPP
Charles Winfred “Bum” Tripp, 77, of Pittsboro, died Saturday, (02-27-2010) at his home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, (03-01-2010), at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Faust and Pastor Jackie Green presiding. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
A Chatham County native, Mr. Tripp was born March 12, 1932 to Garland J. and Lillie Dixon Tripp. He was retired from the housing maintenance department of UNC, Chapel Hill. after 28 years of service, and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Richardson Tripp; daughters, Shelby Harris, Kristie Foushee, both of Pittsboro; sister, Nancy Gordon of Siler City; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cadle Cooper, JW Hill, Rodney Durham, Preston Durham, Jeff Wheeler and Kevin Donneghan. Honorary pallbearers were Bernie Williams and Billy York.
RUTH BULLARD LAWRENCE
Ruth Bullard Lawrence, 75, of Moncure died Friday (02-26-2010) at her home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday (03-01-2010) at Rogers Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Haywood Independent Bible Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, John Harvey Lawrence; daughter Carol Beasley of Moncure; sons, Joe Lawrence of Grifton, Donald Merle Lawrence, John “Lynn” Lawrence, all of Moncure; sisters, Rachel Kelly of Cameron, Felicia Overton of Sanford; brothers, Wayne Bullard, Pat Bullard, Lester Bullard, all of Sanford; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Haywood Independent Bible Church Cemetery Fund.
CHRISTINE PILKINGTON PERKINS
Mrs. Christine Pilkington Perkins, 93, formerly of Pittsboro, died Friday (02-26-2010) at Careview Rest Home in Snow Camp.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday (03-01-2010) at Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating.
Mrs. Perkins was born July 6, 1916 in Chatham County, the daughter of I.C.H. and Maggie Cheek Pilkington. A seamstress, she retired from Chatham Mills with over 35 years of service, and was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by her son Arthur Lee Perkins of Pittsboro; two grandchildren, and one great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Perkins; and sisters, Selma Cheek and Allene Cheek.

DEWEY MARSH, JR.
Dewey Marsh, Jr., 74, of Siler City died Friday (02-26-2010) at UNC Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Harris Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David Scotton and Rev. Christine Dark officiating.
Mr. Marsh was a native of Chatham County and a member of Harris Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he was a musician, president of the usher board, Sunday school superintendent and a trustee. He was a former employee of Marsh Auto Parks and the NAPA Store.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Faye Marsh; sons, Sylvester Rodgers of Greensboro, Scottie Marsh of Bear Creek, William Marsh of Siler city: sisters, Martha Peoples, Eunie Mae Walden, both of Siler City, and Lossie Glover of Washington, DC.
ROBERT WAYNE TRIPP, SR.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held for Robert Wayne Tripp, Sr. at 2 p.m. Saturday (03-06-2010) at Merritt’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Farrington Point Road for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the American Lung Cancer Association in Bob’s memory.
CALEY LUNDY MITCHELL
Caley Lundy Mitchell, 81, of New Hill died Saturday (02-27-2010) at Wake Medical, Cary Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (03-02-2010) at New Elam Christian Church with Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell was born May 22, 1928 in Chatham County, the son of the late Earlie Mitchell and Arzona Stone Mitchell. He was a retired cabinetmaker. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jennie Pierce and brother, Laddie Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Ann Thrift Mitchell of the home; brothers, Benson Mitchell of Pittsboro, Homer Mitchell and Earlie Mitchell, both of New Hill.
ADA MAE PRATT
Ms. Ada Mae Pratt, 76, of Pittsboro died Tuesday (02-23-2010) at Siler City Care and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday (02-28-2010) at Evans Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Kenneth Swann officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Ms. Pratt was a member of Evans Chapel Church where she was a member of the choir and class leader. She attended beautician school in Greensboro and was a assistant teach in New York.
Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Alston of Siler City; sons, Alonza Pratt of Tennessee, Reuben Pratt of Greensboro, Roscoe Pratt of Carthage, Darrell Pratt of Asheville; sister, Connie DeGraffenreidt; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
LEE FOSTER WEATHERS
Lee Foster Weathers, 73, of Pittsboro died Saturday (02-27-2010) at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (03-06-2010) at C.E. Willie Funeral Chapel in Pittsboro. There will be no wake.
Mr. Weathers was born November 2, 1936 in Chatham County, the son of the late Luther Weathers and Henrietta Lee (Alston).
SHIRLEY JANE ROUGHSEDGE EDWARDS
Shirley Jane Roughsedge Edwards, 84, died in Pittsboro on Saturday (02-20-2010).
The memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Arvyette Patterson at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall-Wynne funeral service, with a reception to follow at the funeral home
A native of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Mrs. Edwards was born September 19, 1925 to Charles Daniel and Bertha Richards Mueller Roughsedge. A lifelong Presbyterian, she was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Morris Edwards and a sister, Marion Wilchek.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Kochis of Pittsboro; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Heartland Hospice, 3200 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27604-1699.
Arrangements are under the care of Hall-Wynne funeral service, Griffin Chapel, of Pittsboro.
JAMES EVERETTE SIZEMORE, SR.
James Everette Sizemore, Sr., 84, of 4469 Old U.S. Hwy 421 N, Siler City, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Brush Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Al Martin and Rev. Patrick Fuller officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph Honor Guard.
Mr. Sizemore was a Chatham County native, a son of the late Floyd and Florence Brewer Sizemore, and a 1943 graduate of Bonlee High School. He retired as Body Shop Foreman at Chatham Motors after which he operated an independent body shop at his home until his death. He was a World War II Army Veteran and saw service in the European Theatre.
Mr. Sizemore was very active in his church, having served as a deacon, choir member, and was church treasurer for 45 years. He was an avid NASCAR and Chevrolet fan.
He was predeceased by Nancy Spence Sizemore, his wife of 62 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Jenny McPherson and husband Gerald of Liberty; son, James Everette Sizemore, Jr. and wife Margo of Bear Creek; grandsons, Jerry L. McPherson of Liberty, Cliff Sizemore and wife Megan of Bear Creek; granddaughter, Kate Seningen and husband Ryan of Charleston, S.C.; great-granddaughters, Raelyn Sizemore and Ella Gray Seningen; sisters, Betty S. King and husband Charles of Siler City, Nancy S. Williamson and husband Benny of Bear Creek; brother, Ronny Sizemore and wife Belinda of Bear Creek; special friends, Doug Deaton, Barrett Smith; and his faithful pet and companion, Molly.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett.
