WILLODEEN GOODWIN WAGNER-MOORE
Mrs. Willodeen Goodwin Wagner-Moore, 80, of Pittsboro, died Thursday (10-13-2011) at her home.
Funeral services were held Sunday (10-16-2011) at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, with Rev. Dan Robinson and Rev. Wesley Thomas officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Born November 1, 1930 in Chatham County, Mrs. Wagner-Moore was the daughter of Daylon Goodwin and Eunice Hillard Goodwin. She was retired from UNC Hospitals and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she was a deacon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her previous husband, John Henry Wagner; son, Stanley Wagner; and grandson, Robbie Wagner.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Moore; children, Hal Wagner of Smyrna, TN, Debra Wagner White of Pittsboro, Amy Wagner Whitt of Siler City; Robert Cecil of Chapel Hill; sisters, Myrtle Wall of Garner, Ava Overton of Raleigh; four grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
DAVID LYLE DONALDSON
David Lyle Donaldson, 79, of Pittsboro, died Sunday (10-16-2011).
Services will be held at Hanks Chapel Church, Saturday, (10-22-2011) at 4 p.m. followed by dinner with the family in the fellowship hall. His ashes will be interred at Hanks Chapel Church.
A native of Illinois he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. A member of Hanks Chapel Church, he she served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, member of the search committee, board of trustees, Boy Scout leader, and youth leader. He was a barber, moved into law enforcement and retired as Chief of Public Safety at UNC Hospitals. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline and Elaine.
Survivors include his son Mark Donaldson, of Pittsboro; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister, Leona Runyon; and brother, Johnny Donaldson, of Wyoming.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro, and at other times at the home of the son.

FRANKLIN DWIGHT WILLIAMS
Franklin Dwight Williams, 77, of Siler City, died Sunday, (10-16-2011) at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation.
The funeral was held Wednesday, (10-19-2011) at 3 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Brady officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard and Masonic rites by the Liberty Lodge # 714.
Mr. Williams was born February 16, 1934 in Liberty, the son of George Wesley and Fleta (Edwards) Williams. He had worked with Durham and Southland Life Insurance companies as an agent and had owned and operated Bill's Grill. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a son, Greg Williams of Richmond, VA; sister, Mary Frances Thacker of Graham; brother, Cecil Williams of Pleasant Garden; and eight grandchildren.
The family received friends Wednesday, (10-19-2011) from 2 to 3 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.

MINNIE ADALINE YORK BEAL
Minnie Adaline York Beal, 73, of Siler City died Monday, (10-17-2011) at Chatham Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Beal was born in Randolph County, December 19, 1937, the daughter of Rassie and Lillie (Adkins) York. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Earnest Beal; daughter, Mary Beal of Durham; sons, Ronnie Lee Smith of Liberty, Gary Wayne Smith of Kernersville; sisters, Marie Justice of Liberty, Carol Mathews of Liberty, Nellie York of Liberty; brothers, Bobby Dee York of Franklinville, Clarence M. York of Franklinville, Russell Lee York of Asheboro, Kenneth B. York of Liberty; and four grandchildren.
Smith & Buckner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
VENISHEL EVELYN WALDEN
Venishel Evelyn Walden, 65, died Sunday (10-16-2011) at Pinelake of Carthage.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (10-20-2011) at 2 p.m. at Glover’s United Church of Christ in Bennett.
A native of Moore County, Mrs. Walden was born March 23, 1946 to Haze and Josie Brower Walden. She was a member of Glover’s United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her mother; sons, Charles E. Diggs, Jr., Henry Lee III; daughters, Amy Alston, Angela Alston, Debra Perkins; sister, Jo Ann Dowdy; and 16 grandchildren.
MARY McTILLMAN WIGGINS
Mary McTillman Wiggins, 73, of Spring Hope died Monday (10-10-2011) at Nash Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday (10-15-2011) at 12 p.m. at Gees Grove A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Allen Moore. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Chatham County, she retired from NY Child Support Division and was a member of Hansen Place United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Julius Wiggins of the home; sisters, Geneva Rodgers of Siler City and Helen Dancy of Roosevelt, NY.
MILDRED JORDAN HAND
Mildred Jordan Hand died October 12, 2011 at Siler City Rehabilitation Center.
Mildred - devoted wife and mother was a member of the Pittsboro Baptist Church and a home maker. She will be missed.
Mrs. Hand is survived by her husband, Dennis Hand; her daughter, Denise Harrell and son-in-law Dennis of Pittsboro; her brother, Leon Byerly of Delaware, her sister, Alice Maddox of Florida; and her grandchildren, Justin and Cody.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Festus and Gene Jordan, and her sister, Marie Harris.
There was a visitation at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro Friday October 14, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m.
A graveside service was held at Juniper Springs Baptist Church, Saturday October 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ray Gooch.
GEORGE ORIN WALZ
George Orin Walz, 88, of 100 H. J. Williams Road, Siler City died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1923.
Mr. Walz was a native of Indiana. George served in the Navy, worked for Wells Fargo as a courier and was a member of Community Baptist Church, where he came to know the Lord, September 1, 2011. He was a member of the American Legion in Siler City, enjoyed fishing and his favorite saying was, "I Did It My Way".
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Peternella "Nell" Walz, of the home; daughters, Joanna Soriano of Hollywood, FL, Delores Sanchez of New Smyrna Beach, FL; son, Robert Walz of Boston, MA; step-sons, Jack Lee Box of Concord, Dennis Box of Leesburg, FL;. step-daughter, Teri Stephens of Siler City; twelve grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
O. KENNETH BECKWITH
Mr. Orenza Kenneth “Kenny” Beckwith, 77, formerly of Pittsboro died Tuesday, (10-04-2011) in Burlington at his daughter’s home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (10-08-2011) at Hall – Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro with Pastor Jack Phillips presiding. Interment followed in New Elam Christian Church cemetery.
Born December 25, 1933 in Roxboro, he was the son of Robert Beckwith and Nannie Lou Chambers Beckwith. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict, worked for Chatham Mills, where he retired after 33 years of service. He was a member of New Elam Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Beckwith, Jr.
Surviving are children, Annette Beckwith, Penny Cook, Mark Beckwith, Troy Beck-with, all of Burlington; sisters, Nancy Blackwood, Grace Harris, both of Chapel Hill, Katie Cooper of Pittsboro; brother, Jimmy Beckwith of North Wilkesboro; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

ARCHIE C. ATKINSON, JR.
Mr. Archie Chalmers Atkinson, Jr. 79, of Pittsboro, died Tuesday (10-04-2011) at the Laurels of Chatham.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, (10-07-2011) at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Val Chadwick and Pastor John Covington officiating. Military honors will be conferred.
Mr. Atkinson was born in Bladen County on June 8, 1932, the son of Archie C. Atkinson, Sr. and Elizabeth Kersey Atkinson. He was a graduate of Catawba College, and served in the US Army, 101st Airborne, during the Korean conflict. He retired from Kellwood Hosiery in Siler City. Following retirement, he owned and operated Chatham Painting Company. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by a son, Ray Atkinson; and sisters, Sara Cochrane, Vivian Callahan, and Lois Myrick.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Andrews Atkinson; daughters, Janet Bryant of Sanford, Donna Howard of Nashville; sister, Lillian Rettig of Sanford; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

STEVEN ALLEN FARRISH
Steven Allen Farrish, 56, of Siler City died Saturday (10-08-2011) at his home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (10-12-2011) at Unity Power House with Charles Tysor officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Holiness Church in Sanford.
Survivors include his step-mother, Brenda Farrish; daughters, Tameika Watson, Tkeyah Farrish, Whitney Jones, Deborah Moffitt; son, Leander Moffitt; brothers, Ronnie Farrish, Bryant Farrish, Leon Bailey; sisters, Barbara Lewis, Helen Dark, Tena Maness; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
