W. RUSSELL COTTON
W. Russell Cotten, 84, of Sanford died Saturday, (10-22-2011) at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, (10-25-2011) at 3 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Ira Sutton and Pastor Matt Martin officiating. Burial with military honors followed at the church cemetery.
Mr. Cotten was born December 6, 1926 to the late Hurley and Evie Goodwin Cotten. He served in WW II in the U.S. Navy. A member of Cool Springs Baptist Church, he owned and operated Cotten’s Truck Stop and later retired for Tryon. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, Modern Woodsmen, and the Seven Sea’s Club. grandchildren In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Cotten; brothers, Max Cotton, James Cotton; and sister, Betty Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Rosser Cotton; daughter, Donna L. Cooper of Pittsboro; sons, Michael R. Cotten of Sanford, Dan R. Cotten of Wilson; brother, Richard Cotten of Finley, OH; sisters, Hazel Stephens, Eunice Tedder, Cleone Easterling, all of Sanford, Barbara McLeod of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

RICHARD FLOYD WALTERS, JR.
Richard Floyd Walters, Jr., 65, of Bear Creek, died Tuesday (10-18-2011) at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, (10-28-2011) at Meroney Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating.
Born October 20, 1945, Mr. Walters was the son of Richard Floyd Walters, Sr. and Kattie Davis Walters. He was a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his mother, and sons, Allen Walters and James Walters.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Perkins Walters of the home; daughter, Nanzetta Trotter of Bear Creek; son, Paul Walters of Siler City; stepdaughter, Melissa Murphy of Texas; father, Richard Walters of FL; brothers, Ron of WY, Bill of OK, Kerry of MN, Roy Walters of FL; sisters, Chris of IN, Tammy of NC; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
PAULINE BUDDEMEIER
Pauline Buddemeier was born in Des Moines, Iowa August 18, 1931 to Dr. John and Nina B. Jewell.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, (10-26-2011) at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
She attended the University of Illinois majoring in bacteriology and chemistry, later working for the medical facility that performed tests for Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
Survivors include Maurice R. Buddemeier; children, Kamilla Buddemeier Crump, Brenda Stigall, Nina Campbell, Jeffrey Buddemeier; and two grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death.
JENNIE TAYLOR BRIDGERS
Jennie Green Taylor Bridgers, 95, of 7166 Jordan Road, Ramseur died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Mrs. Bridgers was born July 26, 1916, the daughter of William Joseph and Mamie (Green) Taylor. She was born in Martin County, North Carolina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City and a former member of the Siler City BPW. Jennie and her husband owned and operated Chatham Insurance and Realty Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl S. "Dick" Bridgers; son, Joe Bridgers; her parents and a sister, Mamie Taylor Slade.
Survivors include a son, Richard Bridgers and wife Sandy of Wendell; grandchildren, Richard Shane Bridgers and wife, Stephanie of Durham, Jennifer Lauren Bridgers of Wendell, Matthew Justin Bridgers of Wendell, and a great-granddaughter, Neaveh Sky Bridgers.
The funeral was held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 314 N. 2nd Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Tony Capehart officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff of Universal Health Care for the loving care and support of Jennie and her family during her stay there.

WILLIAM HAROLD IVEY
William Harold Ivey, 94, passed away October 19, 2011 at Coventry House of Siler City after several months of declining health.
The family received friends on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City.
Harold was born September 8, 1917 to Preston and Minnie Ivey. He was an Army Veteran, serving in WW II. During his military time, he learned to operate heavy equipment which continued to be his occupation after his discharge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City, the Masonic Lodge and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Louise; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Newton of Little River, SC; grandson, Michael Newton of Naples, FL; sisters, Louise Womble and Mary Frances Smith; sisters-in-law, Emily Carter and Matilda Carter, all of Siler City; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express "special" thanks to Dr. James Davis, Liberty Hospice and Coventry House for their love and support during Harold's illness.
AVA HARRIS WILLIAMS
Ava Harris Williams, 98, of 900 West Dolphin Street, Siler City, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Williams was born July 28, 1913, the daughter of Taylor and Sina (Johnson) Harris. She was a native of Chatham County and a retired cafeteria worker. She attended Rocky River Baptist Church and enjoyed farming, cooking, working in her flowers and keeping children.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Burris officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.

WILLIAM THOMAS WYRICK
Bear Creek - William Thomas Wyrick, 80, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at his residence.
A 2 p.m. graveside service was held Monday, October 24 at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family received friends Sunday, October 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel.
William was born August 17, 1931 in Rockingham County to the late Jacob and Naomi Wyrick. His served his country in the United States Marine Corps for two years before beginning his career in the railroad industry. He retired from Tarheel Construction in 1992. Mr. Wyrick enjoyed farming and planting his garden. He was a generous man and quick to share his vegetables with neighbors and friends. He always put others first. He also enjoyed going to tractor shows and looking at old farm machinery. He was very fond of his dog and constant companion, “Penny.” Most importantly, he dearly loved his grandson Dane.
He was preceded in death by his brothers James and Edward Wyrick as well as sisters Louise Boggs and Annie Lee Langley.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Wyrick; his daughter, Dollie Wyrick Fulton of Siler City; brother, David Wyrick; sister, Nancy Kirkman; and grandson, Thomas Dane Fulton.
DURWARD S. EMERY
Durwood S. Emery, 86, of 7166 Jordan Road, Ramseur died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Universal Health Care.
Mr. Every was born May 6, 1925, the son of Lebern and Estie Wilson (Thurman) Emery. He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee and was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Wesleyan Church. Durward was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by sons, James Emery and wife, Mary Ann of Statesville, Junior Emery and wife Helen of Harmony; daughters, Ann E. McDaniel and husband Jeff of Siler City, Barbara Emery of Liberty, Denise Brinkley of Siler City; sons, Gary Emery and wife Teresa of Pleasant Garden, Danny Emery of Liberty; sister, Mildred Culberson and husband Joe of Siler City; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City and other times at the home of Ann and Jeff McDaniel, 2065 Smith Hudson Road, Siler City. Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Rev. Noah Albarez and Rev. Tim Ritter officiating.

MAUDESTINE G. BROWER
Maudestine G. Brower, 86, of Siler City died 07-16-2011 at Siler City Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity United Holy Church with Elder Samuel B. Obie officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Brower was a native of Chatham County, a member of Holy Trinity United Holy Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Missionary Board, and Mothers Board.
Surviving are daughters, Janice Brower Edwards of Boone, Yvonne Brower Allen of Greensboro; sons, Ralph A. Brower, Jr., Walter C. Brower, Sr., Carl E. Brower I, Michael T. Brower, Sr.; sisters, Louise Jordan, Betty Staley, both of Siler City; brothers, James V. Graves of Philadelphia, PA; and 15 grandchildren.
ISSAC JOE HARRIS
Issac Joe Harris, 58, of Sanford died Saturday (10-08-2011) at his home.
Funeral services were held Thursday (10-13-2011) at 3 p.m. at Ward Memorial Church with Rev. Julian French officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Harris was a native of Chatham County, a graduate of Jordan-Matthews High School, and former employee of Allied Fibers. He was a member of Ward Memorial Church where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, usher and member of the male chorus.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy P. Harris; mother, Joyce M. Harris; daughters, Valencia Price of Sanford, Miranda Harris of the home; sons, Cedric Price of Pullman, Washington, Jamari Harris of the home; and one grandchild; sisters, Jeannette Mahado of Florida; Marian Harris of Greensboro, Ellen Jones of High Point; brothers, Am-brose Green of Sanford, Theodore Green of Asheboro, Ricky Harris of Greensboro and Billy Lagrande.
ELIZABETH HEADEN CRAVEN
Elizabeth Headen Craven, 90, of Siler City died Monday (10-03-2011) at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Siler City.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Barry R. Gray officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Craven was a native of Chatham County, a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, and retired from Townsend Poultry.
Surviving are daughters, Joyce C. Siler, Francis c. Raines; son, Billie Craven, all of Siler City; sister, Margaret Headen of Siler City; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
