FLOYD WHITE, SR.
Mr. Floyd White, Sr., 93, of Siler City died Monday, (09-02-2013) at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington.
Funeral services were held Wednesday from 7 to 8 at Knotts & Sons Funeral Home in Siler City. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (09-05-2013) at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Liberty.
Survivors include children, Patriciaxz Bowden, Dale White-Moore, both of Siler City, Robbie White of Asheboro; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
LULA MARGARET PERRY WHITE
Lula Margaret Perry White, 89, of Siler City died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 after several years of declining health.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, W. Arthur White, her parents, Daner and Emma Lindley Perry, and her daughter, Deann White Woody.
She is survived by a large and loving family. The children are Thomas (Tom) W. White and Mary Beth of Asheboro, W. Donald (Don) White and Vicky Olive of Carrboro, Ronald G. White and Evelyn of Silk Hope, Audrey W. Pilkington and Larry of Garner, Helen W. McGee and Mike of Raleigh, and Todd Woody of Silk Hope. She is survived by ten grandchildren, Leah W. Sugg and Jeff of Erect, Amanda W. Julian and Kris of Asheboro, Leslie G. Lynette and Chris of Garner, Steven Pilkington and Angie of Apex, Lee Pilkington and Laura of Benson, Joshua G. White and Stacey of Silk Hope, Raley White of São Paulo, Brazil, Daner White of Wilmington, and Charlie and Zachary McGee of Raleigh. She is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Clay Sugg of Erect, Emma Grace Julian of Asheboro, Haley, Hannah, and Hayden Lynette of Garner, and Sarah and Leah Pilkington of Apex.
A lifelong resident of Chatham County, Lula Margaret grew up in Silk Hope. She was a dairy farmer and a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church. She was the leader of the Blue Eagles 4-H Club for over 25 years. She loved sewing and producing fruits and vegetables to can and freeze. In her later years, she worked on genealogy projects. Also, she traveled with Arthur on numerous group trips and attended many bluegrass and gospel events.
The children received friends and family at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013.
The funeral was held at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church in Silk Hope on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 11 a, m. with a burial service immediately following.

EUGENE MALONE
Great reunions were made on Saturday August 31, 2013 when Eugene Malone, 82, passed away at 3:50 a.m. in High Point.
Born on February 8, 1931, to Airone and Gladys Mashburn Malone, Eugene resided with his wife of 14 years, Mary Sprinkle Malone, at 1850 Stemp Everhart Road, Thomasville, and 111 Trenor Lane, Powells Point, NC. Previously, he resided in Siler City for approximately 50 years.
Along with his wife, Mary, Mr Malone is survived by four children and two stepchildren, Pat Elrod of Charlotte, Judy Lane and husband Bill Lane of Kitty Hawk and Goldsboro, Don Malone and wife Rhonda Malone of Winston Salem, Lisa Williams and Joseph Williams of Kitty Hawk, Janyce Sprinkle of Denton and Amy Springer and husband Ted, also of Denton. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are: Lennie Malone of High Point, Catherine Wright of Siler City and Barbara Lopossay of Bennett.
Mr Malone was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years, Lydia Ella “Pi” Malone, brothers, June Malone, Gary Malone and sisters, Lorraine Mensch, Polly Landreth, Betty Adcock and Cecil Sjoblom. Eugene was also preceded in death by one grandson, Addison Malone.
The family received friends on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. A graveside service was held on Tuesday September 3 at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City.
Mr Malone was a loving husband, a wonderful father and an amazing grandfather. He will be missed immensely.
LILLY BETH VonCANON GOLDSTON
Mrs. Goldston was born in Lee County on November 18, 1930, the daughter of Carl and Mary Abby (McBride) Von Canon. She was a member of the Goldston Baptist Church for over 50 years. Lilly Beth was instrumental in taking the Goldston Public Library from one room to a large library with reading and community programs. Her career with Alamance-Chatham Regional Library System also included serving as head librarian at both Siler City and Pittsboro. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Lilly Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Goldston, Jr.; and a daughter, Linda Faye Goldston.
She is survived by one daughter, Katherine Goldston of Cary; two sons, Joseph B. Goldston, III and wife Maria of Goldston, David Goldston and wife Wendy of Cary; grandchildren, Geoffry Goldston, Benjamin Goldston and wife Rosalie, Molly Goldston and Christopher Goldston.
The family received friends Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City.
The funeral was held Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Goldston Baptist Church, 190 North Church Street, Goldston with Rev. Mitch Watson officiating. Burial followed in Goldston Cemetery.

COREY ALTON WILKES
Corey Alton Wilkes, infant son of Tiffany and Alan Wilkes of Bennett passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Bennett, with Dr. Neal Jackson officiating.
In addition to the parents, Corey is survived by his sister, Ashton Lynn Wilkes of the home; brothers, Chandler Ray Wilkes, Christian Lane Wilkes, and Cayden Neese Wilkes, all of the home; maternal grandparents, Steve and Wanda Ellington of Robbins; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Becky Wilkes of Carthage; maternal great-grandmother, Velna Caviness Garner of Robbins.
JOANNE SKORNIA KLUMB
Joanne Skornia Klumb, 68, of Siler City died Tuesday, (08-20-2013) at her residence.
A memorial service was held at the First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Dennis Boone officiating on Friday, (08-23-2013) at 12 noon.
Mrs. Klumb was born November 1, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Prybyzylski) Skornia. She had been employed at A J Schneierson and later Glendale. She was a member of Hillbrook Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Deboraha Stafford of High Point; sons, William Klumb and Donnie Klumb, both of Siler City, Ray Klumb of Bahama, Keith Klumb of Graham; sisters, Lorraine of Wind Lake, WI, Sister Jeannette of Chicago, IL, Mary Jane of Racine, WI, Diane of Brookfield, WI, Rosemary and Suzanne of Milwaukee, WI, Christaine and Nancy of Oak Creek, WI, Arelene and Janet of Siler City; brother: John of Milwaukee, WI; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

HARVEY GREGORY “GREG” HACKNEY
Mr. Harvey Gregory “Greg” Hackney, 58, of Pittsboro, died Thursday, (08-22-2013) at the Laurels of Chatham.
The Celebration of Life service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (08-24-2013), from the graveside at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastors Bob Wachs and John Covington officiating.
Greg was born in Chatham County on July 16, 1955, the son of William Taff Hackney and Vivian Emma Dixon Hackney. He worked as a warehouse stockman for UNC Hospitals before retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Johnson.
Survivors include twin sons, Michael Anthony and Matthew Gregory Hackney, both of Pittsboro; sister, Bobbie Dwiggins of Pittsboro; brothers, George William, Glenn, and Ricky Hackney, all of Pittsboro; and by one granddaughter.

ERNEST DALE McNEILL
Ernest Dale McNeill, 63, of Sanford, died Saturday, (08-24-2013), at his home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, (08-27-2013), at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Rev. Patrick Broaddus officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. McNeill was born in Lee County to the late Preston and Girlene Parrish McNeill.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Cox McNeill of the home; son, Ryan Patterson of Mamers; daughters, Sara Allen of Carthage, Jennifer Howell of Sanford; brother, Harold McNeill of Sanford; and six grandchildren.

DANIEL NOAH PHILLIPS
Mr. Daniel Noah Phillips, 86, of Bennett, passed away Thursday, (08-22-2013) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday, (08-25-2013) at Bennett Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p. m. with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Phillips was a Chatham County native and retired owner and operator of Dan’s Sporting Goods in Bennett. He was an Army and Air Force veteran and had attended Bennett Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Tonda Phillips of Bennett; sister, Lucy Phillips Pugh of Bennett; and three grandchildren.
SIDNEY ALTON McNEILL
Mr. Sidney Alton McNeill, 80, formerly of Seagrove, passed away Monday, (08-26-2013) at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, (08-28-2013) at 2 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Luke Roberts officiating.
Mr. McNeill was a machine operator for the NC Dept. of Transportation and had attended Robbins Bible Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Causie and Maggie Cheek McNeill, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae McNeill, brothers, Herman and Doc McNeill, and sisters, Myrtle Nalls and Bertie Welch.
Survivors include sons, Ray McNeill and Bobby McNeill, both of Asheboro, Randy McNeill of Biscoe; sister, Dollie Maness of Robbins; and two grandchildren.
MELVIN BROWN
Mr. Melvin Brown, 74, of Bennett, passed away Monday, (08-26-2013) at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, (08-30-2013) at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion UMC with Rev. Russell Brownworth and Rev. Chuck Rowland officiating. Burial with Military Honors were provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Brown was a Randolph County native and a Navy Veteran. He had been a saw mill owner and later worked in the textiles industry. He was a member o fMt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Mary Ida Brown, sisters, Vera Rollins and Pauline Chrisco, brothers, Raymond Brown and John Neil Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Linda C. Brown of the home; daughters, Carolyn Croom of Delco, Donna Miller of Bennett; sisters, Irene Davis of Asheboro, Annie Ruth Bland of Wilson; brothers, Russell Brown, Cleo Brown, J.W. Brown, all of Bennett, Earl Brown of Robbins, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, (08-29-2013) from 6-8 p.m at Joyce-Brady Chapel, and other times at his home.

Joyce-Brady Chapel is serving the Brown family.
BETTY JONES HUGHES
Betty Jones Hughes, 84, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Greensboro on January 30, 1929, the daughter of Lawrence Barber and Mozelle (Underwood) Jones. Betty graduated valedictorian of her class at Greensboro Senior High School. She retired as a bookkeeper with Quality Molding Products and worked part time at ACE Hardware. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the Friendship Sunday School Class, the Mary Beth Group, and served on the Altar Guild for over 20 years. Betty enjoyed raising her children and grandchildren, cooking, playing the piano and playing bridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted C. Hughes, her parents, and grandsons, Nicky Hughes and Drew Hughes.
She is survived by four sons, Steve Hughes and wife Debbie of Bear Creek, Chuck Hughes of Siler City, Mike Hughes and wife Kim of Huntersville, Chris Hughes and wife Angie of Bear Creek; sister, Barbara J. Poplin of Newport News, VA; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Monday, August 26, 2013, one hour prior to the service at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City.
The funeral was held Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Clyde Denny and Rev. Travis Owen officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
