ALBERT JOSEPH McLAURIN
Mr. Albert Joseph McLaurin 92, of Siler City passed away at his home on Sunday, (09-22-2013.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, (09-25-2013) at 11 a.m. at Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tripp Foltz, Rev. Bob Wachs, and Rev. Luther Lemon officiating.

Mr. McLaurin was a Chatham County native and a farmer for many years. He was a member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was the son of the late Albert H. and Lucy R. McLaurin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darrell; brothers, Neil, Howard, Milton, Ralph, Daniel; sisters, Hattie Jane and Ethel Lee.

Mr. McLaurin is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Ann McLaurin of the home; sons, Harold McLaurin of Bear Creek, Keith McLaurin of Sunnyvale, CA; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

JACK C. PRITCHARD
Jack C. Pritchard, 80, a resident of Pasadena and Glen Burnie, MD, died Monday, (09-23-2013).

Services and interment were private.

Mr. Pritchard was born January 14, 1933 in Hiddenite, NC to the late William and Faye Pritchard. He served in the US Navy and retired from NSA as an electrical engineer. He was a Ham Radio Operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen C. Pritchard.

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Carlene Dixon Pritchard; son, Phil C. Pritchard of Pasadena; brothers, Guy Pritchard of Siler City, Mike Pritchard of Tampa, FL; sisters, Nancy Wilson, Marie Marsh, Judy Marsh, Vicky Justice, all of Siler City, and Ellen Holder of FL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

ELIZABETH ANN POLASKI ALFANO
Elizabeth Ann Polaski Alfano, 79, of Sanford, died Friday, (09-20-2013), at Central Carolina Hospital.

Services will be private.

Mrs. Alfano was born September 30, 1933, in Milton, MS, to the late William Polaski and Elizabeth Moore Polaski. She graduated from Milton High School and from The Katherine Gibbs School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Madden and Joan Blake.

She is survived by her husband, Gildo Thomas Alfano; sons, Thomas Alfano of St. Augustine, FL, William Alfano of Hillsborough; a daughter, Virginia Hargarten of Kentfield, CA; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church, 901 North Franklin Drive, Sanford, N.C. 27330.

PATSY SMITH HOWARD
Patsy Smith Howard, 67, of Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro died Tuesday, (09-24-2013).

A graveside service will be held Thursday, (09-26-2013) at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, with Rev. Bob Wachs officiating.
Mrs. Howard was born in Chatham County on January 2, 1946, the daughter of Kerney A. and Edna (Smith) Smith, Sr. She had worked for The Flame Restaurant and the old Country Store. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Linda Burgess, Sarah Jones and Sally Oldham.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Oglesbee of Carthage, Tammy Mabe of Siler City; sister, Jane S. Shaw of Ramseur; brother, Kerney Smith, Jr. of Siler City; and six grandchildren.
No formal visitation is planned.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home is assisting the family.

MELVIN RAYMOND WOOTEN
Mr. Melvin Raymond Wooten, 65, of Cameron died Tuesday, (09-24-2013) at the Durham Veteran’s Administration Medical Center.

The funeral will be Thursday, (09-26-2013) at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Broadway with Rev. George Brice officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Wooten was born December 3, 1947, in Cumberland County, to the late Raymond E. Wooten and Leola Weldon McPherson Wooten. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Rosser Wooten. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a son, Matt Wooten of Clayton; a daughter, Tracey Wooten of Cary; brother, James Wooten of Nashville, TN; sister, Joann Odom of Cameron; and two grandchildren..

The family received friends Wednesday, (09-25-2013) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

ROBERT HOWARD REID
Robert Howard Reid, 76, of Pine Forest Drive, Siler City, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Reid was born in Chatham County on February 22, 1937, the son of Irving Crumpler and Ruby (Fox) Reid. Robert was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church, an alumnus of East Carolina University and had been a member of the Pirate Club for 35 years. He was the owner of the Pittsboro NAPA Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the Siler City Masonic Lodge # 403 where he had served as a past Master. Robert was on the Board of Directors at First Citizens Bank in Pittsboro.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to caregivers, Steve, Tara and Sandy.

Survivors include his wife, Betty (Harris) Reid; two sons, Robert H. Reid, Jr. and wife Jamie of Sanford, Stan Reid and wife Lea of Siler City; and grandchildren, Asa and Joey Reid of Sanford.

The family received friends Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. atRocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City. The funeral was held Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Rocky River Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.

GERALDINE SCOTT WHITE
Geraldine Scott White, 80, of Burlington, formerly of Siler City, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. White was born in Chatham County on May 6, 1933, the daughter of Rufus and Clara (McLaughlin) Scott. Jerri was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City. She was an avid golfer, a member of a bowling team and the local bridge club. Jerri was a staunch UNC Tarheel’s fan but her priorities were her love of God, her husband and family.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Hospice of Alamance and Caswell County, especially Marie Minnis. They also express appreciation to “Always Best Care” of Burlington for their help, especially Dede Bowen for support, love and care. Jerri was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Franklin D. White.

She is survived by two daughters, Shawn White Sharpe and husband Jeffrey of Alamance, Melissa White Davis and husband Dr. James Davis; one son, James Gregory White and wife Michelle of Roxboro; sisters, Evelyn Robinson of Siler City, Merrill Jordan of Southern Pines, Dottie Griffin and husband Sammie of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Tyler Atkinson and wife Rachel Ann, Katie Reavis and husband Christopher, Sawyer White, Franklin Davis, Jaxon and Grayson White.

The family received friends on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.

The funeral was held Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Brian Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance and Caswell Counties, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.

VIVIAN FOWLER EUBANKS
Mrs. Vivian Fowler Eubanks, 91, died September 23, 2013 at Cambridge Hills in Pittsboro.

Mrs. Eubanks was born in Orange County, NC, on September 13, 1922, a daughter of John William Fowler and Mary Alice Meacham Fowler. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to the Bynum community, where she resided until her death.

She joined the Bynum United Methodist Church in 1929 and was, until her death, the oldest member of that congregation. As a wife and homemaker, she raised three children and took great care of her family.

Mrs. Eubanks is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Rupert “Rudy” Eubanks, Jr. and wife Judy of Bynum, Mike Eubanks and wife Sheila of Pittsboro; daughter, Brenda Stubbs of Bynum; grandchildren, Jimmy Stubbs and wife Lori Golden, Shannon Stubbs, R.B. Eubanks, III and wife Christy, Jessica Eubanks, Adam Eubanks and fiancée Laura Manning, Marshall Garris; great-grandchildren, Ethan Stubbs and companion Kim Brauner, Samantha Eubanks, Sydney Eubank s, Cody Garris, Ashlyn Garris, Chase Golden; and niece Vickie Bednar, her daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Josh Bowling and their children, Michaela and Connor. Mrs. Eubanks was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Rupert Eubanks, Sr.

The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Vivian Eubanks will be held at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon, September 27, 2013 at Bynum United Methodist Church. Pastors Bob Wachs and Gina Barrow, and Mr. Robert Elmore will preside. Interment will follow in the Bynum Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro and at other times at the residence of Brenda Stubbs.

Memorials may be directed to UNC Hospice, PO Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC7312.

Arrangements for Mrs. Eubanks are under the care of Hall-Wynne funeral service and Cremations of Pittsboro.

NELLIE LEWIS PALMER
Nellie Lewis Palmer, 97, of Moncure, died Tuesday, (09-10-2013), at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.

The funeral was held Tuesday, (09-17-2013), at 3 p.m. at Moncure United Methodist Church with Rev. Houston Blaire officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Palmer was born July 24, 1916, in Fulton County, Georgia, to the late Ether Marvin Lewis and Hannah Ann Hartnett Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oren A. Palmer and a grandson, James Vance Williams, III. She worked for a number of years at Belk’s before retiring.

Surviving is a daughter, Lisa Ellen Palmer of Moncure.

RAEFORD HOWARD GUNTER
Raeford Howard Gunter, 87, of Siler City died Friday, (09-13-2013) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A graveside service was held Monday, (09-16-2013) at 2 p.m. at Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. J. V. Livingston and David Hobson officiating.

Mr. Gunter was born March 21, 1926, the son of Charlie and Lillian (Womble) Gunter. He was retired from Boling Chair Company and had worked for Goldston Lumber Company and Chatham Novelties. Raeford was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Allene Gilmore Snow and Vernelle McBane Thomas Gunter, a sister, Nadine Crab-tree and a brother, Gerald Gunter.

Survivors include a daughter, Leann Robinson of Siler City; son, Howard Gunter of Siler City; sisters, Dorthlene Franklin of Graham, Bernice Badders of Clayton, Shirley Poe of Siler City; brothers: Charlie Gunter of Siler City, Laddie Gunter of Goldston; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

MARY BELLE MYERS JORDAN
Mary Belle Myers Jordan, 75, of Sanford died Wednesday, (09-11-2013) at home.

The funeral was held Sunday (09-15-2013) at 4 p.m. at Oakley Baptist Church with Rev. Heath Faircloth and Rev. Eddie Ellison officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs.Jordan was born in Davidson County on March 1, 1938, the daughter of Clayton and Ruth (Boggs) Myers. She had been employed by the PTA Thrift Shop in Siler City as manager, and she was a member of Oakley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jordan; her parents; a brother, Clay Myers and a great-grandson, Bently Creason.

Survivors include daughters, Debra Vandervort of Youngsville, Gloria Clare of Goldston; sons, Roger Causey of Winston-Salem, Tony Causey of Sanford; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Oakley Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
