MRS. LEITHA H. GLOSSON
Pittsboro—Born April 10, 1942, in Bynum, NC to the late Roy Howard and Peola Tyson Howard, Leitha Howard Glosson passed away at The Laurels of Chatham on December 22, 2014. She was married 54 years to Leon Glosson until his passing, July of 2012. Leitha was a hard worker who retired from Townsend, Inc., as a payroll coordinator. She loved her family dearly.
Leitha is survived by her children, Tony Glosson (Jennifer) of Pittsboro, Brett Glosson (Linda) of Pittsboro, Mark Glosson (Margaret) of Chapel Hill, Kara Burke (Wayne) of Pittsboro, Jeff Glosson (Deanna) of Pittsboro; her grandchildren, Paul, Stephen, Christopher, Jamie, Lauren, Candice, Forrest, Tyler, Joshua, Ariel, Jaxson; her brothers, Jackie Howard (Gail) of Graham, and Gary Howard (Sarah) of Bear Creek.
Visitation with the family was held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2014 at Hall-Wynne funeral service in Pittsboro.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Hall-Wynne funeral service with the Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial followed at Bynum UMC Cemetery.

GILDA GRAY BOONE NORTON
Gilda Gray Boone Norton, 52, of Siler City, died Wednesday, (12-17-2014) at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
Funeral services were held Saturday, (12-20-2014) at 2 p.m. at Community Baptist Church in Siler City, with Rev. Mark Agan officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Norton was born in Randolph County, the daughter of Robert Franklin Boone, Jr. and Barbara Mabe Boone. She had worked as a machine operator in textiles and was a member of Community Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, and a baby grandchild.
She is survived by her husband, Rickey Lynn Norton; sons, Timothy “TJ” Norton, Anthony “Duke” Norton, both of Siler City; daughter, Heather Boone of Siler City; mother, Barbara Dean Boone of the home; sister, Darlene Garcia of Siler City; brother, Wade Boone of Bennett; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Joyce-Brady Chapel to assist with the family with funeral expenses.
PHYLLIS EILEEN TATE JOHANSON
Phyllis Eileen Tate Johanson, 76, of Cameron, died Wednesday, (12-17-2014).
The funeral service was held at Hillmon Grove Baptist Church on Saturday (12-20-2014) with Rev. Wayne O’Quinn officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was born in Greenville, PA on November 21, 1938 to the late Carl and Helen Vossler Tate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Eugene Beair, five brothers and two sisters. She served our country in the United States Army.
She is survived by her husband, James Edward Johanson; son, Michael Wayne Beair of Cameron; daughter Michele Martel of Broadway; step-sons, Eric Johanson of California, Josh Geigerman of Cary; step-daughter, Carolyn Barrett of Raleigh; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
BARBARA MANESS LUCK
Barbara Maness Luck, of Seagrove, 72, died Wednesday, (12-17-2014) at her home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, (12-20-2014) at Union Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Reverend Dr. Ron Chaney officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Barbara was born in Montgomery County. She worked for Energizer Battery for over 33 years. Barbara was involved in her church and enjoyed activities with her Sunday school class. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years, prior to her illness. Barbara was a daughter of the late Lennie Carson and Mae Garner Maness and was also preceded in death by her brother, Barney Maness.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Holden of Siler City; son, Tony Luck of Seagrove; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Moore.

WAYNE ROSSER CRISSMAN
Wayne Rosser Crissman, 88, of Sanford, died Wednesday, (12-17-2014).
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Thomas presiding. Burial followed at Shallow Well Church Cemetery.
Mr. Crissman was born in Surry County on November 14, 1926 to the late George W. and Lilly Hancock Crissman. He was a retired switchman with the telephone company.
Survivors include a son, Donald Wayne Crissman of Sanford; daughters, Elizabeth Gail Curtis of Sanford, Rita Joyce Hays of Rockledge, FL; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
JOHNNIE DALE “JOHN” TESTERMAN
Johnnie Dale “John” Testerman, 64, of Bear Creek died Friday, (12-19-2014) at Chatham Hospital, Inc.
A memorial service was held Monday, (12-22-2014) at 11 a.m. at Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Testerman was born in Ashe County, March 20, 1950, the son of John B. and Jincy (Waddell) Testerman. He was self-employed as a construction contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn (Hoosier) Testerman; son, Johnnie Dale Testerman, Jr. of Sanford; brothers, Charles, Joe, Norman, Ralph and Jerry Testerman; sisters, Pat McGrady, Dot Testerman, Nancy Lewis, Madge Rash; and two grandsons.

PHYLLIS DENEEN MERRILL MORGAN
Phyllis Deneen Merrill Morgan, 59, of Broadway, died Thursday, (12-18-2014) at the First Health Hospice House in Moore County.
Burial is planned for a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
Mrs. Morgan was born in Fairview on January 12, 1955 to Dennis Riley and Eva Maureen Wooten Merrill. She was retired from the US Air Force, and was preceded in death by a sister, Becky Hunnicutt.
Survivors include her husband, Russell Robert Morgan of Broadway; parents, Dennis and Eva Merrill of Fairview; sister, Tharesa “Dean” Owenby of Fairview; and a brother, Don Merrill of Asheville,.
NORA CAMERON THOMAS GUNTER
Mrs. Nora Cameron Thomas Gunter, 85, of Sanford, died Saturday, (12-20-2014), at Liberty Commons of Lee County.
A graveside service was held Monday, (12-22-2014), at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Gunter was born August 5, 1929, in Lee County, to the late Daniel Kelly Cameron and Lucy Godfrey Cameron. She retired as a CNA with Hospice. Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by her husbands, Bailey Thomas, Jr. and J. R. Gunter; two infant sons; an infant daughter; a brother, Elton Cameron and four sisters, Hilda Ralston, Leila Oakley, Margie Patterson, and Ruth Weiderhold.
Survivors include sons, Billy Thomas, Gerald Thomas, Danny Thomas, David Thomas; daughters, Linda Vance, Lucy Clewis, all of Sanford: 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund or to the Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church Music Ministry.

Toni Harrington Rouse, age 77, of Sanford died Sunday, (12-21-2014), at Central Carolina Hospital ER.

JOSEPH “TED” THEODORE WELCH
Joseph “Ted” Theodore Welch, 87, of Bennett, passed away Saturday, (12-20-2014), at the Hospice House of Randolph in Asheboro.
Services were held at Bennett Baptist Church, Tuesday, (12-23-2014) at 2 p.m., with Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service in the church.
Ted was the son of Joseph and Ada Welch of Bennett. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lynn, Lester, Frank, Howard, Porter, and Henry Welch.
Ted retired as a principal from Bennett Elementary School, having taught there before becoming principal. A member of Bennett Baptist Church, he served over the years as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and Deacon. He was a Navy veteran of WW II.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Maxine Chilton Welch of the home; sons, Mark Welch of the home, Van Welch of Hillsborough; brother, Nuby Welch of Farmer; and sister, Nellie Brewer of Bennett.
