VERGILIA GREEN SMITH LUTTERLOH
Vergilia “Jill” Lutterloh, 95, died December 27, 2013 at Cambridge Hill Assisted Living Facility in Pittsboro.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, (12-31-2013) at 11 a.m. at Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Jill was survived by her son, Charles Lutterloh and daughter, Donna Holt, both of Pittsboro.

Edward Perdue, 85, of Sanford died Wednesday, (01-01-2014), at Central Carolina Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Inc., Sanford.
BETTY LINEBERRY SMITH
Betty Juanita Lineberry Smith, 73, died Tuesday, (01-01-2014) at her home in Pittsboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, (01-05-2014) at Pittsboro United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Grays Chapel UMC.
Mrs. Smith was born January 10, 1940 to Delpha Lineberry and Juanita Ivy Lineberry in Randolph County. She worked in the payroll department of UNC Chapel Hill before taking a position with the Pittsboro Animal Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Lineberry.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Max Smith of the home; son, Henry Smith of Richmond, VA; daughter, Suzy Orr of Charlotte; brothers, Odell Lineberry of Franklinville, Fred Lineberry of Asheboro, Tony Lineberry of Raleigh; sister, Wilma Stalker of Franklinville; and two granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to: Pittsboro UMC, 71 West St.Pittsboro, NC 27312.
HAROLD KENNETH ALSTON
Harold Kenneth Alston, 61, of Siler City, passed away Sunday (01-05-2014) at his home.
A memorial service will be held Thursday (01-09-2014) at Knotts & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Siler City.
Survivors include his children, Delora Jacobo, Felisha Alston, Latonica Garcia; sisters, Rev. Zelphia Marsh, Myra Alston, Sharon Hickmond; brothers, Donnell Alston, Keith Alston; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
SANDRA LEE SCHILLING PATTERSON
Sandra Lee Schilling Patterson, 56, of Nebo, passed away Monday, (01-06-2014) at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Sandra was born in Hagerstown, MD on February 15, 1957, the daughter of the late John Fayman Schilling and Constance Hope Pryor Jester. She worked at Bi-Lo Deli for a short period of time.
Surviving is her husband of 33 years, Gary Patterson of the home; son, Gary Patterson, Jr. of Nebo; sister, Leslie Hall of Siler City; and three grandchildren.

CARLENE ESTELLE WILLIAMS PERRY
Carlene Williams Perry, 89, of Siler City, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Chatham Hospital.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, January 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Rocky River Friends Meeting, officiated by David Hobson. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends on Tuesday, December 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
Carlene was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Clyde and Bertha Hackett Williams; her husband, Paul Staley Perry; sisters, Ailene W. Wright and Ann Albright; and brother, Robert “Bob” Williams.
Surviving is her daughter, Camela Beane Crutchfield (Alfred) of Liberty; grandchildren, Donald L Beane, Jr. (Kim) of Siler City, Perry E. Beane (Lindsey) of Lenior; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Beane, Jillian Beane, Sandra Lewis Beane, Colby Dulles Beane and Aiden Elizabeth Beane; sisters, Josephine W. Nixon; and sister-in-law, Ada Williams.

Mrs. Carolyn White, age 74, of Pittsboro, departed this life peacefully, Saturday morning, December 28, 2013 at her home.
The funeral was held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Solid Rock Baptist Church 3903 U.S. Highway64 West, Pittsboro, NC 27312, with Pastor Jerry Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the Bynum United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, J.R. White; daughters, Miranda Ann May, Crystal Rae White, and Martha Jean Bristol, all of Pittsboro, NC; sisters, Shirley Mae Gregory, Mary Kathy Harris of Winston Salem, NC and Bessie Rosetta Sink of High Point, NC; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to honor Carolyn be made to: UNC Hospice or Solid Rock Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. A J “Tom” Phillips, 86, of 7792 NC highway 42, Bear Creek, passed away at his residence on Wednesday,
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Glendon Independent Christian Church in Glendon with Rev. Robert Yandle and Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Phillips was a native of Chatham County and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Glendon Independent Christian Church. He was a wonderful farmer, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley T. Phillips of the home; daughter, Julie Martindale and husband Marvin of Bear Creek; son, Dean Phillips of the home, and Dean’s friend, Elizabeth Ray; grandchildren, Dustin Martindale and Amber Martindale, great-granddaughter Emery Estridge; sisters, Hazel McAdoo and Dorothy Meadows, both of Greensboro.
The family received friends at Joyce-Brady Chapel 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208 from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2014, and other times at his home.

MARY DRAUGHON FAIRCLOTH
Mary Draughon Faircloth, 90, of Cliftwood Drive, Siler City, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.
Mrs. Faircloth was born in Sampson County on November 16, 1923, the daughter of William and Irene Bryant Draughon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City where she was active in Sunday School and the Missions Group. Mary was retired from Belk Yates as a sales associate. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Warren Faircloth, Sr., her parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Ann F. Fulton of Siler City; son, Warren Faircloth and wife, Margaret of Hillsborough, NC; sister, Ruth Draughon Tew of Dunn, NC; grandchildren, Jeff Fulton, Heather Fulton-Brame and Laura Faircloth; great-grandchildren, Jesse Fulton and Richie Brame.
The family received friends on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 314 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tony Capehart and Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial was held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Faircloth Family Cemetery in Stedman, NC.

MORTON MEAD DARK, SR.
Morton Mead Dark, Sr., 88, went to be with his Lord Saturday, January 4, 2014 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Mr. Dark was born April 20, 1925, the son of Newby Judson Dark, Sr. and Etna Carolyn Cheek Dark. Mead was a native of Chatham County and a WW II veteran. Mead attended UNC-Chapel Hill, Class of 1951 and was a member of The Rams Club. He was an avid farmer who loved his Angus Cattle which he called his “Black Babies”. He enjoyed watching things grow with vegetables being his favorite, Mead was also a timber farmer and in his younger years, he assisted his parents with the operation of Oakmont Shooting Club. He retired as vice president with Farm Credit. Mr. Dark is preceded in death by his step-son, Mickey Teter.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Imo Teter Dark; daughter, Sharon Monroe-Perryman of High Point; sons, Morton Mead Dark, Jr., and Thomas Philip Dark and wife Jane Keeney Dark, both of Siler City; grandchildren, Heather Monroe, Jennifer Monroe and Meredith Dark; great-grandchildren, Tripp and Kelsie Idol and Sydney Monroe; and daughter-in-law, Helen Teter of Liberty.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Hickory Mountain Baptist Church cemetery, 1094 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler Citywith Rev. Val Chadwick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Hickory Mt. Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
The family wishes to express their great appreciation to the staff of Cambridge Hills for their love and support of Mead while he was there.
MARTHA ANN GAINES FOUSHEE
Martha Ann Gaines Foushee, 73, of Gulf died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. Foushee was born in Chatham County on September 11, 1940, the daughter of Fred Lacy and Olivia (Jordan) Gaines. She was a homemaker and had been a caregiver for children. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Lonnie Lester Gaines and Larry Thomas Gaines.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Clayton Foushee; daughters, Lori Stack and husband Tommy of Sanford, Martha Jean Woody of Bear Creek, Jeanette Christine Foushee of Gulf, Annette Keyser and husband, Arvil of Broadway; son, Harold Foushee of Goldston; grandchildren, Ginger Sparks and husband Gavin Cummings, Holly Stack, Ashley Stack, Barbara Jean Woody, William Woody and wife Nicole, Skylar Keyser, Leia Keyser, Christopher Foushee, Eli Foushee, Olivia Foushee; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Woody; brother, Dennis Ray Gaines and wife Barbara of Goldston.
The family received friends Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral followed at 2 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Ann Ritter officiating. Burial was in Gaines Grove Cemetery, Goldston.
JOHN WAYNE JACOBS
John Wayne Jacobs, 78, of South Main Street, Goldston died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Mr. Jacobs was born in Lee County on August 8, 1935. Wayne was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was a NASCAR fan, and in years past had assisted on the Wicker Racing Team. He helped with many area benefits, enjoyed listening to gospel music and participating in bass fishing tournaments. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Madeline Fields Beal and Wiley Beal; infant son, Ronnie Wayne Jacobs and sister, Belvedere Whitfield.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Linda Delores Jacobs of the home; daughters, Elaine Petty and husband Buck of Moravian Falls, Tammy Spivey of Newport; step-children, Robin Smyth of Lillington, Chris Carroll and girl friend, Jean Watson of Gulf, Scott Carroll and wife Eratta of Lake Charles, LA, Brad Carroll of Gladehill, VA; step-brother, Jeff Beal of Goldston; grandchildren, Landon Webster and wife, Rhonda of Locus Grove, GA, Jessica Austin and husband Robert of Moravian Falls, Brian Webster and wife Sarah of Moravian Falls, Brandon Spivey of Newport, Shelby Godwin of Lillington; step-grandchildren, Candice Liverman and Tyler Liverman, both of Lillington, Christopher Carroll of Gulf, Bradley, Brandon, Toni Carroll of Gladehill, VA., Danyell Lewis and husband Steven of Apex; six great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
