MARGUERITE COGGINS FOSTER FERGUSON
Mrs. Marguerite Coggins Foster Ferguson of Sanford, died Saturday, (06-14-2014), at Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral was held at 4 p.m. at Grace Chapel with Rev. Robert Yandle and Rev. Dan Coggins presiding. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ferguson was born in Lee County, on January 2, 1924, to the late Hurlie D. Coggins and Lacy Lee Jones Coggins. She served as a manager of Greenwood School Cafeteria prior to her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Donald Foster and Claude Ferguson; daughter, Judy Foster Lewis; brother, H D Coggins, Jr, and sisters, Josephine C Moree, Etheline C. Gunter, Norma C. Logan and Sara C. Lee.

Surviving relatives include daughters, Susan F. Bouchard, Paula F. Conley, both of Sanford; step-daughters, Claudia F. Johnson of Lancaster, SC, Dottie F. Sutton of Greenville, SC; step-son, Wayne Ferguson of Holden Beach; brothers Rex Coggins of Tampa, FL, Jack Coggins, Mark Coggins, both of Sanford; sisters, Honoree Donathan of Sanford, Linda Fogarty, Kay Welch, both of Sebring, FL, Gayle Burns of Okeechobee, FL; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

TEMPIE WATKINS OLDHAM
Tempie Watkins Oldham, 85, of Barker Road, Bear Creek died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Oldham was born in Chatham County on February 26, 1929, the daughter of Alfred and Emily (Johnson) Watkins. She was a nursing assistant, had a unique sense of humor that she shared with all she came in contact with. She loved her friends and family and was devoted to her canine companion, Simon, who was an important part of her life. Tempie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wade Oldham, Sr.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheryle Willett and husband Danny Thompson of Goldston; one son, Earl Wade Oldham, Jr. and wife Cherrie of Bear Creek; sister, Odessa W. Foushee of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Brian Willett and wife Traci of Goldston; John Thomas and wife Tammy of Sanford, Brittany Oldham of Bear Creek; great-grandchildren, Jacob Willett, Brody and Brooke Thomas; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Meroney United Methodist Church, 10568 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating. The family received friends Saturday, following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home assisted the family.

MARGARET STUTTS TEAGUE

Bear Creek—Mrs. Margaret Stutts Teague, 91, formerly of Greensboro, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living in Pittsboro.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church, Greensboro. Interment followed in Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Teague was born on August 31, 1922 in Guilford County, daughter of the late Ernest and Florence William Smith. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company in 1979 following 22 years of service.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Powell and husband Bob of Chapel Hill; and two grandchildren, Lisa and Jason Powell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Teague in 1982.

The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Forbis and Dick, North Elm Street.

JAMES LAUREL GRAY
James Laurel Gray, 93, of Siler City died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Coventry House of Siler City.

Mr. Gray was born in Guilford County on April 17, 1921, the son of Jarvis F. and Roberta (Hodgin) Gray. James was a member of Faith Baptist Church, the Chatham County Gideon Camp, Silk Hope Ruritan Club, an Army veteran, and a life member of VFW Post 9525 in Liberty.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Irene (Gray) Gray of the home; one son, Ronnie Gray and wife Charlene of Archdale; one daughter, Shirley Freeman and husband Bill of Siler City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 303 Hillbrook Boulevard, Siler City with Pastor Bobby Shutt officiating. A small graveside service was held in Westminster Gardens, Greensboro at 3 p.m..

MARTHA COPELAND KIRKPATRICK
Martha Copeland Goldston Kirkpatrick, 88, of New Garden Road, Greensboro died Friday, June 13, 2014 at her home.

Martha was born in Chatham County, on February 28, 1926. She was the daughter of Joseph Baxter Goldston, Sr. and Emma (Copeland) Goldston. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a retired receptionist for Lakeland Memorial Gardens in Way Cross, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Billy Joe Clifton, her grandson, Jarrett Freeman, brother, J. B. Goldston and sister, Virginia White.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Susan Clifton Freeman of Archdale, N.C., Carol Clifton Freeman of Long, SC; grandchildren, Brad Clifton, Richard A. Freeman, Jr., Laura Freeman; by her great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jordan and brother-in-law, Walter Jordan of Fayetteville, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Barbara, Scott, Georgeanna and Bessie.

The family received friends Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Goldston Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Georgeanna and Bessie Womack, for their extraordinary selfless and truly Christian care given to Martha in her later years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that a donation be made to Ashton Places, McLeansville, NC.

NELLIE GRAY SCOTTEN McMAHON
Nellie Gray Scotten McMahon, 84, of Siler City died peacefully in her sleep Friday, June 13, 2014 at Siler City Center.

Mrs. McMahon was born in Glendon, NCon December 21, 1929. Nellie was the daughter of Clester Ralston and Lora (Davis) Scotten and the youngest of eight. She was married and lived in Siler City for the last 61 years. She had been employed as a telephone operator before staying at home, once her son was born.

She is survived by her husband, James P. McMahon; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sally McMahon of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Grey and Samuel Aidan McMahon; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 4 p.m.

Smith and Buckner was in charge of the arrangements.

ETHEL IRENE GERRINGER PERRY JOHNSON
Ethel Irene Gerringer Perry Johnson, age 86, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 14, 2014.

She was born June 28, 1927 in Chatham County. Irene was preceded in death by two husbands, William Franklin Perry and Jimmy Johnson; her son Daryll Perry; and a grandson, Jacob Cotton.

Irene is survived by her son, Craig Perry and his wife Janet of Snow Camp; her daughters, Sharon P. Prevatte of Burlington, Donna Vail of Bradenton, FL; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Siler City, with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at the church.

Hall-Wynne Griffin Chapel is serving the Johnson family.

ROBERT FRANKLIN “FRANK” ANDREWS
Robert Franklin “Frank” Andrews, 84, of Siler City died Tuesday, (06-03-2014) at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

The funeral was held Thursday, (06-05-2014) at 3 p.m. at Bonlee Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Dobson and Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Burial followed in Hope Cemetery, with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Mr. Andrews was born in Alamance County on January 25, 1930, the son of Walter Ross and Era (Jones) Andrews. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Van Thomas Inc. after 42 years of service. Frank was a member of Bonlee Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and held numerous other offices. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Lois Moore Andrews; his parents; sisters, Irene Newlin, Hazel Miller and Nancy Andrews; brothers, Glenn, Joe, Samuel, Dale and Tommy Andrews.

Surviving is a sister, Marie Andrews of Graham,

Memorials may be made to a Charity of the donor’s choice.

KENNETH LEROY KESTER
Mr. Kenneth Leroy Kester, 68, of Bennett, passed away Tuesday, (06-03-2014) at the Veterans Hospital in Durham.

Mr. Kester will have a Military graveside service, to be held at a later date in Coolville, Ohio.

A retired truck driver with Chief Express in Seagrove, he attended Pleasant Grove Christian Church, and was a US Army veteran, serving two tours in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as sisters, Violet Holms, Virginia Hardesty, and a grandson, Jonathan Morrison.

Surviving is his wife, Phyllis Donahue Kester of the home; sons, Dwayne Daggett of Belpre, OH, Ron Daggett of Marietta, OH, Todd Kabella of Omaha, NE, Michael Kabella of California; brothers, Dick Kester of Custer, SD, Wayne Kester of Rapid City, SD, Tom Kester of Belle Fourche, SD, Bob Kester of Custer, SD, Bill Kester of Belle Fourche, SD, Raymond Kester of Rapid City, SD, Joe Kester of Colestrip, MT, Gary Kester of Edgemont, SD; sisters, Delores Waddington of Lead, SD, Dorothy Dean of Pringle, SD, Donna Stratton of Simpsonville, SC, Norma Skinner of Brent, AL, Mary Parker of Rapid City, SD, and Marilyn Akkerman of Hamet, CA; and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: Joyce-Brady Chapel, P.O. Box 89, Bennett, NC 27208 to help with funeral expenses.

TOMMY LEON DINKINS
Mr. Tommy Leon Dinkins, 66, of Sanford, died Wednesday, (06-04-2014), at his home.

The funeral was held at 12 noon on Saturday, (06-07-2014) at the Sanford Church of God with Pastor David Kimbrell, Pastor Eugene Powers, and Pastor Dennis Patterson officiating. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens with military rites.

Mr. Dinkins was born in Lee County on February 14, 1948, to the late Roy Newton Dinkins, Sr. and Virginia Hudson Dinkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dennis Dinkins. He was a retired cabinet maker.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Taylor Dinkins of the home; daughters, Mary Ann Bradley of Sanford, Dana Dinkins of Winston Salem; a brother, Roy Newton Dinkins, Jr. of Sanford; and one grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Hospice of Sanford, 1005 Carthage Street, Sanford, N.C. 27330 or to Sanford Church of God, 2105 Pathway Drive, Sanford, N.C. 27330.
