Mrs. Mary Katherine Martin Bettini, 83, former resident of 2839 Lee’s Chapel Rd., Brown Summit, died Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Beverly Healthcare Starmount where she had resided since December 2000.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, N. Elm Street Chapel. Entombment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bettini was a native of Guilford County and the daughter of the late William T. and Rosa Cook Martin. She was formerly employed by the Guilford County Schools in the cafeteria at Northeast Jr. High School and at Fellowship Hall in food service. She was a leader of Girl Scout Troop 192 at Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church for many years.
Survivors include her sons, Charles E. Bettini, Sr. of Graham, Kenneth W. Bettini and wife, Shirley of Pelham, Al., Ronald Bettini and wife Kay of Greensboro, Richard Bettini and wife Susan of Gibsonville; daughters, Patricia Murphy and Lynne Rich and husband Edward of Gibsonville, Barbara Durham and husband Tom of Greensboro, Janice Stoneman and husband Gary of Rocky Mount, Va.; sister, Emma Lee Williamson of Greensboro; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Frank S. Bettini, Jr., a son in law, Richard L. Murphy and grandson, Ken Stoneman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, September 19, 2003 at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, N. Elm Street and other times at the home of her daughter, at 6041 Bethel Church Rd, Gibsonville.

Mrs. Victoria Bruno Winberg, died Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital
The funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, September 20, at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel officiated by Reverend David Cox. The interment will follow in Westminster Gardens.
Victoria was retired from the US Goverment Soil Conservation Service and had a great love for quilting and ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Winberg.
Surviving are her sons and their wives, Gene and April Winberg of Greensboro, Tom and Dorcas Winberg of Baltimore, MD and daughter, Carol Ramage of Caldwell, OH; brother, David Bruno of FL; sister, Edith Dunlap and husband Chant of OH. Eric, Adam, Tara, Angela, Michael, Missy, Alicia, Tricia and Andrea, her grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all the love of her life and the sparkle in her eye, also survive her. She also leaves behind pets, Tippy and Cleo.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Friday, September 19 and from 10:00 to 11:00AM Saturday, September 20 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Peggy Dawkins

Peggy Parrot Dawkins, 72, of Twin Lakes Retirement Center, died Tuesday September 16, 2003 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, September 18, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Summerfield.
Mrs. Dawkins was born on November 8, 1930 in Henderson, NC. She attended Campbell College and has lived in Greensboro for almost fifty years. She had resided at Twin Lakes Center in Burlington for the past six months. Peggy enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting antiques, especially antique dolls. She was a member of the Piedmont Doll Club and took great care in repairing and restoring dolls. She also had a special gift for making doll clothes. She owned a craft shop n Pittsboro, "Best Friends", with her lifetime friend, Minni Bell Sirls. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Peggy Dawkins is survived by her three children, Benjamin Riley Dawkins and wife Teresa of Summerfield, Milly D. Raynor and husband of Whitsett and Timothy Lewis Dawkins of Greensboro. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Hillary Dawkins, Christina Dawkins, Ben Dawkins, Ana Watson and husband Grant, Jessica Raynor and Nathan Sullivan and a great grandson, Preston Raynor Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Dawkins.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30PM on Wednesday September 17 at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home on North Elm Street

Lucille Cole Abernethy, age 83, of 4242 Ashland Drive, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Evergreens Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Friday, September 19, 2003 at Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with the Reverend Jock Ollis and Reverend Nick Scandale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Durham and the daughter of the late Edward Cole and Hester Connor Cole. Mrs. Abernethy was active in the Methodist Women and the Saints Alive Choir at her church. She was retired from Burlington Industries.
She is survived by her husband, James Abernethy; one sister, Naomi D'onffrio and her husband Joe of New Albany, PA; one brother, George L. Cole and his wife Jean of Kinston, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 3:00PM Friday in the church parlor prior to the service.

Mrs. Ruth Hanna Westergaard
SERVICE DETAILS: The family will receive friends 2:00 Friday, September 19, 2003 in the Sitting Room of the Wellspring Retirement Community.
Ruth Hanna Westergaard, 95, died September 15th at Well-Spring Retirement Community, 3560 Wildflower Drive, Greensboro, NC 27410. Mrs. Westergaard survived her husband of 60 years, Richard B. Westergaard, who died in 1996.
Mrs. Westergaard moved with her husband to Greensboro in 1994 from Knoxville, Tennessee where they had lived since 1936. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of James R. and Jessie Pinney Hanna, a former Mayor of Des Moines.
Mrs. Westergaard graduated from the University of Iowa, and after that worked as a journalist with the Des Moines Register and Tribune where she met her future husband, Dick. They were married in Lincoln, Nebraska, April 29, 1933. They moved to Knoxville, TN where Mr. Westergaard was most known for his career with radio station WNOX.
She is survived by her two sons, Jim, of Greensboro, NC and Lynn of Atlanta, GA. Six grandchildren, Kim Westergaard Augsburger of Greensboro, NC, Craig Westergaard of Oak Ridge, NC, Tracy Westergaard of Greensboro, NC , Mark Westergaard of Boseman, MT, Karen Westergaard Deans, of Bethesda, MD and Julie Westergaard Audibert of Atlanta, GA and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Wellspring Retirement Community at 2:00PM Friday September 19th in the Assisted Living sitting room following a private interment.

McLeansville – Mrs. Lucille S. Michael, 81, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 12, 2004.

Lucille was a faithful member and willing servant of New Bessemer Baptist Church, where she was a member for most of her adult life. She was active in the Winsome Sunday School Class and the Morning Current Missions Group.
She will be remembered by her many loved ones for the beautiful quilts she made and for her joy of cooking. Lucille gave of herself and had a desire to make those around her happy.
Lucille was fortunate to have shared her life with two wonderful men. Everett Seawell was her husband of 32 years, before his death in 1977. He was the father of her two children Carolyn (Glenn) Perry, of Raleigh, and Randy (Kathy) Seawell, of Gibsonville. Her husband, John Michael, with whom she was happily married for 25 years, survives, of the home. With the addition of John’s two children, Cynthia and Earl (Lorene), whom she came to love as her own, the Michaels shared many happy years and were a very close family.
In addition to her husband and her children, Lucille is survived by her sisters, Betty Browning, of Greensboro; and Phoebe Swing, of Greensboro; brothers, W.W. Brady, of Gibsonville; and Chester Brady, of Greensboro; grandchildren, Steve Seawell; and Cristy and Jared Daley. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Flossie Holt Brady, her mother, Bannie M. Brady and by her sister, Hilda Turkett.
The family will receive friends at Forbis and Dick, North Elm Street Funeral Home tonight from 7:00-8:30 PM, and at other times will be at 5009 Wainwright Road, McLeansville.

A graveside service for Mrs. McMasters will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel.
Mrs. McMasters was a native of Guilford. She was a homemaker and a former member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Pat Levinson, Jean Collins and Gloria Barfield all of Greensboro; two sons, Billy McMasters of Surf City and Paul Lee Smith of Winston Salem; one sister Doris Swanson; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2004, at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel.
