CLAUDE LOUIS SEALEY

Claude Louis Sealey, age 71, of 1405 Farrington Road, Apex died Friday, March 3, 2006 in the UNC Hospital due to an extended illness.

Mr. Sealey was a retired farmer and a general painter. He was well known for his barbecue chickens and peanut brittle cooking.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006 in the Bell's Baptist Church, 1274 Farrington Road, Apex. Officiating were Rev. Rick Washington and Rev. Steve Moore. Burial followed in the Bell's Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Clara Holt Sealey of the home; two daughters, Wanda Sealey Kidd of Pittsboro, Scarlet Sealey Jewell and husband, Alan of Graham; three brothers, James Sealey and wife, Brenda of Clayton, Russell Sealey of Raleigh, John Sealey and wife Maude of Clayton; three sisters, Elsie Kirk of Clayton, Edna Capps and husband, Donald of Clayton, Rita Cook of Selma; three grandchildren, Lauren Rebecca Kidd, Michael Travis Kidd, Amber Michelle Jewel; and a step-grandchild, Candace Jewell Humphrey.

Memorials may be given to the Bell's Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

The family received friends Monday, March 6, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home, 550 West Williams Street (Hwy 55), Apex; and at other times, at the home, 1405 Farrington Road, Apex.

RUBY LEE BOLEN

Ruby Lee Bolen, 86, of 34014 Kirk Road, Albemarle died Friday, March 17, 2006 at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2006 at Badin United Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis Goforth and Rev. Judith Drye officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Albemarle.

Mrs. Bolen was born June 29, 1919, a native of Stanly County, a homemaker and a life-long member of Badin United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Order of White Shrine, the Home Demonstration Club in Kirk Community, choir member, president of UMW, a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. She loved to travel.

Survivors include a son, Michael M. Bolen, Sr. of Albemarle; daughters, Audrey Bolen Newton of Albemarle, Susan Bolen Ritchie of Badin, Rev. Judith Bolen Drye of Goldston; sisters, Mary Solomon, Martha Stirewalt, both of Albemarle; grandchildren, Frank Russell, Debbie Fisher, Jerry Russell, Michael Bolen, Jr. Matthew Bolen, Tresa Tucker, Christa Morgan, Brian Drye, Eric Ritchie, Cheri Hathcock and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe M. Bolen in 1984, her father, Thomas Edward Stirewalt and mother, Maggie Burgess Stirewalt.

Memorials may be made to Badin United Methodist Church, PO Box 746, Badin, NC 28009.

ABBEY MICHELLE GLOSSON

Abbey Michelle Glosson, 16, of 228 Henderson Tanyard Rd., Pittsboro, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at UNC Hospital.

A native of Orange County, she was the daughter of Jerry Mark Glosson and Renee Summers Glosson, who survive. Abbey was the Junior Class President at Jordan-Matthews High School, a Varsity Cheerleader, and was involved in the Beta Club, D.E.C.A., and the F.C.A. She was a graduate of Barbizon Modeling School, worked at S & T Soda Shop, and of the Christian Faith.

Abbey is survived by her parents of the home; a sister, Rebecca Glosson of the home; maternal grandmother, Shirley Summers of Pittsboro; paternal grandfather, Carlyle Glosson of Graham; great grandfather, Lonnie Shepherd of Haw River; aunts and uncles, Paul and Gaye Long, Donald and Gena Bradsher, Jeff and Lisa Glosson, and Donna Glosson; and cousins, Eric, Stephanie, Brooki, Gayla, Taylor, Page, Julia, and Olivia; and special friends, Meredith Holley and Brandon Marley. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Buddy Summers; and paternal grandmother, Wanda Glosson.

The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Shields and Bob Sargent. Interment will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family received friends from 11-1:45 Wednesday, prior to the service, and other times at the home.

MRS. CORA G. STAMPS

Mrs. Cora G. Stamps, 83 of Pittsboro, died Tuesday, (03-14-2006) at her home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, (03-16-2006) at Alston Chapel United Holy Church, with Elder Carrie Bolton, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Stamps was a member of Alston Chapel United Holy church, a member of the Bible band, and the senior choir.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Stamps of Pittsboro; sisters, Dorothy Martin of Goldston, Luby Hagans of Halen, N.Y.; brother, James Goldston of Goldston; and five grandchildren.

BARBARA HANSON MITCHELL

Barbara Hanson Mitchell, 63, of Carolina Beach, died Wednesday, (03-15-2006) at her home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, (03-20-2006) at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. John Singletary officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Kansas City, Mo. and a medical technician. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Peter Mitchell; a daughter, Babette P. Stone of Raleigh; a son, Bobby Powell of Pittsboro; and four grandchildren.

WAYNE MERWYN WILLIAMS

Wayne Merwyn Williams, 69, of Apex died Sunday (03-19-2006) in UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Williams was a native of Chatham County and a retired transportation supervisor for Chatham County school garage. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, (03-22-2006) at Ebenezer United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Bob Way, officiating.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy Mann Williams.

WILMA LUCILLE GOODMAN JONES

Wilma Lucille Goodman Jones, 71, of Pittsboro died Friday, (03-17-2006) in UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, (03-21-2006) at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ with Rev. Bob Wachs and Rev. Ray Gooch, officiating.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Lee County, retired from Chatham Mills, Inc. and a member of Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Jones; daughters, Kay Jones of Fayetteville, Dianne Culp of Gold Hill, Ann Jones of Pittsboro; son, Danny Jones of Pittsboro; brother, Lloyd Goodman, Jr. of Pittsboro; and five grandchildren.

JAMES C. LINEBERRY

James Calvin “Jake” Lineberry, 81, of Ramseur died Sunday, (03-19-2006) at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, (03-22-2006) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Ramseur with Rev. Tad Marshall, officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

Mr. Lineberry was a native of Randolph County, a retired truck driver for J. P. Stevens and C.J.S. Leasing Company and he attended Liberty Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Brower Lineberry of the home; sons, Jimmy Lineberry, Mickey Lineberry, both of Siler City; step-daughter, Shelia Morgan of Randleman; step-son, Jackie McMasters of Staley; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

IVAN DEAN THOMPSON

Ivan Dean Thompson, 83, of Yakima, Washington went to be with his lord on Monday, March 13, 2006 at the family home.

Dean was born in Mt. Vernon Springs, on June 28, 1922 to Norman and Mary (Lowe) Thompson. He served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Maryland, where he worked as an electrician’s mate and obtained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In the early morning hours of December 7, 1941, he was aboard the USS Maryland when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

On July 28, 1942, Dean married his life-long wife, Elma Thiel. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church from its beginning. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a pioneer in television in the Yakima Valley. When he moved there, there was only one station available, so the risk was big coming into the television repair business. He owned and operated Thompson’s West Valley TV for over 40 years. Dean was an enthusiastic wild turkey hunter. He loved the outdoors and would often stop in Moxee to hunt chuckers.

Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Elma; sons, Dean (Doreen) Thompson, Jr. of Richland; Glenn (Allyson) Thompson of Yakima, Joel (Lori) Thompson of Vancouver; a daughter, Dorine (Jake) Nickerson of Gresham; grandchildren, Shane and Aaron Thompson of Yakima, Gregory Thompson of Long Beach, CA, Josh Thompson of Richland, Rachel Mack of Portland, Emily and J.D. Nickerson of Gresham, Daniel and Matthew Thompson of Vancouver; great-grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Zhane Thompson, Riley Thompson, all of Yakima; sisters, Lucille Dixon of Siler City, Lois Marley of Rocky Mount, Betty Holloway of Chapel Hill; brother, Edwin L. Thompson and wife Evelyn of Siler City; and sister-in-law, Lucille Thompson, also of Siler City.

A private family graveside service with military honors was held at West Hills Memorial Park. Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2006 at West Side Baptist Church.

MARY CLYDE TRUELOVE WILKIE

Mary Clyde Truelove Wil-kie, 93, of 749 John Horton Rd., Apex, died March 15, 2006 due to an extended illness. Mrs. Wilkie was a native of Harnett County. She was a member of Bells Baptist Church where in the past was a Sunday School teacher for the youth. She was an assistant librarian with the Pittsboro Library and also worked with the Chatham County School System and retired at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Wilkie in 1976.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006 in Bells' Baptist Church, 1274 Farrington Rd, Apex, conducted by Reverend Rick Washington. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia Wilkie Veal of Greensboro; son Gene A. Wilkie of Apex; brothers, Norwood Truelove and wife, Marie of Holly Springs, Joe Truelove and wife, Irene of Lexington,; sister, Marie Mason of Fuquay-Varina; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Perry Truelove and Howard Truelove, and sister, Aileen Yarbrough.

RUBY SCOTT YOUNGER

Ruby Scott Younger, 82, of Siler City died Wednesday, (03-08-2006) at SunBridge Care Facilities.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, (03-10-2006) at Deep River Baptist Church Cemetery in Ramseur, with Keith Johnson officiating.

Mrs. Younger was a native of Randolph County and of the Baptist faith. She was retired from A. J. Schneierson & Sons.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Y. Moody, Shirley Y. Johnson, Tina Y. Oldham, all of Siler City; sister, Louise Albright; brother, Jack Scott, both of Siler City; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of UNC, PO Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC 27312; or Wes-Care Senior Life Center, 608 N. Third Ave., Siler City, N.C. 27344.
