WILLIAM LESTER “BUTTERBEAN” BURGESS

Mr. William “Bill” Lester “Butterbean” Burgess, 62 of Siler City died Thursday, (08-24-2006) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Services were conducted at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday (08-26-2006) with Rev. Larry Sablontne, officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Burgess was a native of Durham county, owner/operator of WL Burgess Trucking Company, and a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Pittsboro.

Survivors include a son, Craig Burgess of Siler City; daughters, Sandie Williams, Diane Barker, both of Pittsboro, Sherry Ward of Snow Camp, Casey Blalock of Siler City; sisters, Barbara Lee Burgess of Durham, Becky Burgess of Pittsboro, and six grandchildren.

LUCILLE (Lou) ELLINGTON BISH

Lucille (Lou) Ellington Bish, 81, of Siler City died Friday, (08-25-2006) at Care View Rest Home in Snow Camp.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, (08-27-2006) at First United Methodist Church in Siler City, with Rev. Travis Owen, officiating.

Mrs. Bish was a native of Siler City and a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church. She was owner of Bish Enterprises and served as their secretary, and was a retired Assistant City Clerk for the town of Siler City.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandy McSween of Siler City; brothers, William G. Ellington of Greensboro, Jack Ellington of Gastonia; and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to UNC Hospice, P.O. Box 1077, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312.

NANCY B. GLOVER
Nancy B. Glover, 64, of Staley died Friday, (08-11-2006) at Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, (08-16-2006) at Olivers Chapel A.M.E. Zion church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors incude a daughter, Sonja Brooks of the home; sister, Shelia Frazier of Siler City; brothers, Lacy Brooks of Staley, Franklin Brooks of Asheboro; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

AMICK CRAWFORD SILER

Amick Crawford Siler of Philadelphia, PA., died Tuesday, (08-15-2006).

Mr. Siler was a native of Chatham County.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, (08-23-2006) at Gees Grove A.M.E. Zion Church.

CLATTIE FAISON
Clattie Faison, 96, of siler City died Tuesday (08-22-2006) at SunBridge Care of Siler City.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, (08-25-2006) at Lambert Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. William Harrington officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ms. Faison was a native of Chatham County and a member of Lambert Chapel Church.

There are no immediate survivors.

WILLIS HEADEN
Willis Headen, 67, of Siler City died Friday, (08-11-2006) at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services and burial were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gees Grove A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, with Rev. Fredeick James, officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Headen of the home; daughters, Priscilla Nettles of Staley, Denise McLeod of Sanford; sons, Michael Headen, Reginald Headen, both of Siler City, Terry Headen of Ramseur, Derek Headen of Elizabeth City; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM ERNEST (BILL) JOHNSON, SR.

William Ernest (Bill) Johnson, Sr., 86, of Bear Creek, died Saturday, (08-19-2006) at his home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, (08-21-2006) at Antioch Christian Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Chatham County, a veteran of WWII, serving in Alaska and the Philippines, and a member of Antioch Christian Church. He was a home-builder for 42 years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Oldham Johnson of the home; sons, William E. Johnson, Jr., J. Kevin Johnson, both of Bear Creek; sisters, Mabel Hancock of Chapel Hill, Florence Briggs of Carthage, Peggy Jenks of Graham; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church, 117 Antioch Christian Church Road; or UNC Hospice of Pittsboro; or to the charity of one’s choice.

MARGARET G. LEONARD

Margaret Gant Leonard, 85, of Ramseur died Saturday, (08-26-2006) at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, (08-29-2006) at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Miller, Rev. Artis Payne, and Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

Mrs. Leonard was a native of Chatham County, retired from Ramseur Elementary School Cafeteria, and a member of Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include Edward Patrick Leonard of Liberty, Hal G. Leonard of Ramseur, Eddie Lynn Leonard of Sophia; daughter, Sylvia L. Sutherland of Ramseur; sisters, Pattie Bane, Jean Hill, both of Greensboro, Ann Asher of Merced, CA.; eleven grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 848, Ramseur, N.C. 27316; or to Hospice of Randolph County, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, N.C. 27204.

WADE LESTER HILL
Wade Lester Hill of Siler City died Sunday, (08-27-2006) at Chatham Hospital, Inc.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, (08-30-2006) at 2 p.m. at the First Wesleyan Church in Siler City with Rev. Kevin Stumbo, and Rev. Ricky Wilkie, officiating.

Mr. Hill was a native of Chatham County and of the Methodist faith. He was retired from Boling Chair Company, a member of the American Legion Post #81, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Freeman Hill of Siler City; son, Jeff Hill of Kansas City, MO.; daughters, Jennifer Hill of Durham, Sherry Bradley of Mebane; sisters, Edna Wilkie and Dorothy H. Horne, both of Siler City.

MRS. THELMA. M RIGSBEE

Mrs. Thelma McFarland Rigsbee, 96, of Pittsboro died Saturday (08-26-2006) at Careview Rest Home in Chatham County.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, (08-28-2006) in Yates Baptist church with the Rev. John Frederick and Rev. Don Gordon officiating. A private burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery.

Mrs. Rigsbee was a native of Grenville County, attended Trinity college, Now duke University, and was a member of Yates Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and a Red Cross volunteer.

Survivors include daughters, Nancy R. May of Pittsboro, Gail R. Ellis of Person County; son, William N. (Billy) Rigsbee, Jr. of Albemarle; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

LONNIE R. CARLTON
Lonnie Ransome Carlton, 61, of Randleman died Monday, (08-28-2006) at his home.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, (08-30-2006) at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Staley with Pastor Jeff Harmon officiating.

Mr. Carlton was a native of Rockingham County, of the Baptist faith, and a dairyman.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Bishop Carlton; sons, Dude Carlton, Joey Brady; daughter, Becky Woodburn, all of Randleman; four grandchildren; mother, Lessie B. Carlton of Burlington; brothers, Bobby Carlton, Roger Carlton, Brute Carlton, all of Elizabethtown, Roland Carlton of Orlando, FL.; sisters, Jo Ann Gaddis of Bear Creek, Sue Hales of Siler City, Mary Jane Taylor, of Elizabethtown.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, N.C, 27204-0009.

CLYDE LEE HADLEY (TED)

Clyde Lee Hadley (Ted), 81, of Pittsboro died Wednesday, (08-23-2006) at U.N.C. Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services were held Saturday, (08-26-2006) at 3 p.m. at Mitchell Chapel A.M.E.Z. Church with Rev. Kenneth Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hadley was born in Alamance County, educated in Terrell’s Chapel in Chatham County, retired from Belk’s Department Store, and a member of the Pittsboro Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Macie Alston Hadley of the home; daughter, Barbara Hadley Link of Chapel Hill; sisters, Juanita Hadley Alston of Burlington, Joyce Hadley McKissick, Delois Hadley, both of Pittsboro; brothers, Isaiah Hadley of Pittsboro, Willie Hadley of Graham, Edward Hadley of Durham; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

ALICE J. DORSETT

Alice Johnson Dorsett, 89, of Ramseur died Sunday, (08-27-2006) at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, (08-31-2006) at Parks Cross Roads Christian Church with Rev. Randy Kelley officiating.

Mrs. Dorsett was a native of Randolph County and retired from John Plant Company.

Survivors include daughters, Peggy Huff of Ramseur, Cretha Green of Ossian, Indiana; sister, Faye Johnson of Ramseur; three granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, (08-30-2006) at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur.

KIM MARK “BEAR” KIMBLE

Mr. Kim Mark “Bear” Kimble, 45, of Pittsboro died at his home Sunday, (08-27-2006).

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 1 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, with Pastors Shane Arnold and Wesley Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kimble was born in New Orleans, graduated from William Carey College in Gulfport, MS with a BS in Nursing. He was a manager of Comprehensive Care for Health Ways in Morrisville. (The family relocated to Pittsboro from Mississippi during the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.)

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Albert Kimble of the home; daughters, Natasha Ann Kimble of Mobile, AL., Holly Elizabeth Kimble of the home; son, Jeremy Mark Kimble of Hattiesburg, MS; mother, Nancy R. Kimble of Metairie, LA; and a brother, Baron Kimble of Kenner, LA.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening (08-31-2006) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin funeral service and Cremation in Pittsboro. At other times, the family will be at the family home.
