PAUL STEPHEN MOODY

Paul Stephen Moody, 54, of Siler City died Thursday, (08-31-2006) at Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell in Burlington.

Funeral services were held Sunday, (09-03-2006) at Fellowship Baptist Church in Siler City with Rev. Robert a. Griffith. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Moody was a native of Chatham County, employed with Dynea, and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Y. Moody of Siler City; son, S. Bradley Moody of Julian; brothers, Ted Moody of Lincolnton, Toby Moody of Bonlee, Wayne Moody of Staley, Terry Moody of Goldston, Lonnie Moody, Donnie Moody, both of Siler City; and one sister, Brenda M. Griffin of Gulf.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance & Caswell Counties, PO Box 2122, Burlington, NC 27216.

ALFRED GORDON THOMAS

Alfred Gordon Thomas, 77, of Snow Camp died Thursday, (08-31-2006) at his home.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, (09-03-2006) at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church in Pittsboro with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Thomas was a native of Chatham County, a member of Browns Chapel United Methodist Church, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer and logger.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Teague Thomas; daughters, Kay Straughn, Marcia King, Lynda Smith, all of Pittsboro; sisters, Christine Lloyd of Greensboro, Hazel Screws of Pittsboro; brother, Ralph Thomas of Burlington; stepdaughters, Janice Ward, Donna Wilson, both of Snow Camp, Denise Poe of Siler City, Pattie Murray of Pittsboro, Tammy Scherer of Eden; six grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Browns Chapel Memorial Gift Fund, % Minnie Belle Sirls, 5429 NC Hwy 87N, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312; or Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.

JOHN ROBERT VAUGHN

John Robert Vaughn, 95, of Goldston died Thursday, (08-31-2006) at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, (09-03-2006) at Antioch Baptist Church in Goldston with Rev. Ken Harris, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Vaughn was a native of Chatham County, a member of Antioch Baptist Church, and owner/operator of Vaughn Grocery Store.

Survivors include his wife, Josie Gaines Vaughn, daughter, Joyce Beal; son, Wayne Vaughn, all of Goldston; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3825 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Goldston, N.C. 27252.

CONNIE K. PENDERGRAFT

Connie K. Pendergraft, 55, of Pittsboro died Friday (09-01-2006) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday (09-04-2006) at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Apex with Rev. Jim Willingham and Rev. Craig Willingham officiating.

Mrs. Pendergraft was born in Durham County and owner of Bingo Dock.

Surviving are her husband, Steve Pendergraft of the home; son, Nicholas “Nick” Pendergraft; daughter, Melis-sa P. Ross, both of the home.

ROGER LEO BROGAN

Roger Leo Brogan, 85, of Sanford, died Saturday (09-02-2006) at his home.

Memorial services will be held Friday, (09-08-2006) at Rogers Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Brogan was a native of Antioch, Illinois. He retired from Ingersoll Cutting Tool Company of Rockford, IL., and retired again as Chief Executive Officer of Fansteel, Inc. He was in the US Army during and after World War II and he served in the Pacific Theater of operations. He attended the University of Illinois.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Beal Brogan of Sanford; daughters, Sharon Lee Weeks of Lottsburg, VA., Kathleen Lynn Long of St. Anne, IL.; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford.

All donations will be given to the Elks Crippled Children’s Fund.

OREN WESLEY WILLIAMS

Oren Wesley Williams, 58, of Sanford died Saturday, (09-02-2006) at his home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Ira Smith officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Williams was a native of Lee County and worked with SAS Institute.

Survivors include his daughter, Tina W. Ford; sister, Jeanette Allen; brother, Thomas Williams, all of Sanford; and two grandchildren.

ETHEL LOUISE CARTER

Mrs. Ethel Louise Carter, 82, of Bennett died Sunday, (09-03-2006) at Care View Rest Home in Snow Camp.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday (09-07-2006) at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, AL. Burial will follow in Walker Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Carter was a native of Walker County, AL., of the Methodist faith, and a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Linda C. Brown of Bennett, Margaret Ann Hanvey of Ramseur; son, Robert Lee Carter, Jr. of Lexington Park, MD; brother, Charles Groves, of Jasper, AL.; sisters, Betty Sue Billitiz of Mobile, AL., Doris Ann Busby of Parrish, AL.; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Aldine Dennis Jobe

Mrs. Aldine Dennis Jobe, 89, died just two weeks short of her 90th birthday at her residence on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 6:32 a.m.

A native of Randolph County, she was the wife of the late James Edwin Jobe, Jr. and the daughter of John Bennett Dennis and Donnie Hollard Dennis, both deceased. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham. She retired after 30 years from Burlington Industries in the executive offices.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Sarah Ann Thornton of Rawlins, WY; two step-grandchildren; a brother, John William Dennis and wife Dolly of Caswell Beach; a nephew, Keith Dennis and wife Faye; three nieces, Cheryl Melton and husband Jim, Amy Stanley and husband Scott and Lisa Bowes and husband David; and special friends, Della Nickerson, Lillian Trollinger and Kellsie Williams.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Dennis and three sisters, Edith Dennis, Maize Randolph and Jennie Scott.

A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. by Dr. Kenneth Hall.

The family will receive friends at the residence following the graveside service.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Graham, 303 North Main Street, Graham, NC 27253 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.

Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

HAZEL BARKER ALLRED

Hazel Barker Allred, 77, of 1208 New Garden Road, Greensboro, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Bear Creek, with Ken Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Allred was a native of Lonoke County, AR., and a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church. She was retired from Honeywell Corp., IL. Hazel was preceded in death by husbands, E.J. Barker and Clark Allred.

Survivors include daughter, Debbie Latek of Jacksonville, FL., son, Roy E. Daulong of Greensboro; and grandchildren, Kevin Latek of Washington, D.C., Keith Latek of Orlando, FL., and Tiffany Daulong Ackerman.

DAVID KENNETH HUSSEY

David Kenneth Hussey, 61, of 1751 Beal Road, Goldston died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2006 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 1535 North Moore Road in Robbins with Rev. Don Daniel and Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hussey was a native of Chatham County, employed with Siler City Radiator and Automotive Service, Inc., and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe A. Hussey, brother Michael (Bink) Hussey, and a sister, Virginia Hussey.

Survivors include his wife, Lorie Phillips Hussey of Goldston; sons, Shannon Hussey and Travis Hussey, both of Bear Creek; daughter, Robin Garner of Robbins; mother, Kathleen Maness Hussey Cox of Bennett; brother, Cecil Hussey of Bennett; sisters, Joann H. Maness of Asheboro, Martha Jane Hussey of Bennett; step-daughter, Kristen Garner of the home; step-son, Carson Garner of the home; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the West Chatham Relay for Life, c/o Betty Terry, 519 South 2nd Avenue, Siler City, N.C. 27344.

JOHN McCALLUM BARCLAY
John McCallum Barclay, 78, a resident of Pittsboro Christian Village died Wednesday, (08-23-2006) at the Laurels of Chatham.

Mr. Barclay was born in Ayrshire, Scotland. He retired as a product development specialist from Uniroyal Tire and Rubber Company with 35 years service, and moved to Pittsboro Christian Village in 2004.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn, and a brother, James C. Barclay of Charlotte.

Private graveside services were held Saturday, (08-26-2006) at Chatham Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held Saturday, (09-02-2006) at Pittsboro Christian Village.

GLENN CALVIN ROUTH

Glenn Calvin Routh, 80, of Bonlee, died Thursday, (08-24-2006) at SunBridge Care Facilities in Siler City.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, (08-26-2006) at First United Methodist Church in Siler City, with Rev. Travis Owen officiating. Burial followed at Bennett Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Mr. Routh was a native of Chatham County, a member of Hope United Methodist Church, and a Navy veteran of WW II. He was president of Carolina Poultry and C. C. Routh Mills, a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge #143 A.F. and A.M. and was on the Board of Directors of Planters National Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Gardner Routh of Bear Creek; daughter, Kathy Grigg of Siler City; brothers, C. C. Routh, Jr. of Bonlee, John Routh of Siler City; sister, Jessie Phillips of Siler City; and two grandsons.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 212, Siler City, NC 27344.
