MARY TRIPP TEASLEY
Mrs. Mary Tripp Teasley, 81, of Pittsboro, died Friday, (01-06-2012) at her home.
The celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, (01-12-2012), from the graveside at Rev. Jim Jones officiating. Friends may visit with the family immediately after the service.
Mrs. Teasley was born in Chatham County, July 11, 1930. She was a retired waitress, and had attended Manns Chapel Church.
Survivors include a son Wayne Mayse of Pittsboro; a grandson, and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, I. D. Teasley, preceded her in death.
REV. JAMES BROOKS McSWAIN
Rev. James Brooks McSwain, Sr. died Thursday (12-22-2011) at N.C. Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Rev. McSwain was born May 20, 1957 to the late Louise and Lacy McSwain. A graduate of Jordan-Matthews High School, he attended Central Carolina Community College. He worked in textiles and later was owner and operator of a consignment and furniture store. A member of the Church of God of Prophecy, he pastored in Mebane and Eli Whitney for 17 years, and was an Associate Pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Chapel Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Marsh and brother, Timothy McSwain.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy McSwain; sons, James McSwain of Siler City, Chad McSwain of Virginia Beach; sisters, Daisy McSwain, Ruby McSwain, Helen Glover, Susan Shoffner, all of Siler City; brothers, Lacy Brooks of Greensboro and Gilbert McSwain of Durham.
MINISTER MARY BELLE MARSH
Minister Mary Belle Marsh Died Saturday, (12-24-2011) at her home.
Mrs. Marsh was born in Chatham County, October 27, 1927 to the late George Benny marsh and Ometer Bynum Marsh, and was educated in the Chatham County Schools. She worked for Webster Poultry while attending Bethel Bible Institute in Sanford. She was a member of Mount Calvary Holiness Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent, adult Sunday school teacher, and was a member of the adult choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Slade Marsh; brothers, David, Leon, George, Jr., Preston, Monroe and Henry Marsh; sisters, Catherine Baldwin, Rev. Bessie Goldston, Iner Johnson and Mozelle Marsh.
Survivors include a son, Calvin marsh of Bear Creek; daughters, Evangelist Gwendolyn Siler, Myra Hall, b9th of Bear Creek, Jacqueline Marsh of Roanoke, VA; sister, Minister Bertha Fralin of Roanoke, VA; brothers, Isiah Marsh, Bear Creek, Homer Marsh of Mt. Vernon Springs, Percy Marsh of Liberty; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
CHARLIE SMITH, JR.
Charlie Smith, Jr. died Tuesday, (01-03-2012).
Mr. Smith was born February 2, 1925, the son of Charles Smith, Sr. and Savannah Mauldin. He attended Chatham County Schools and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He retired from Hadley Peoples Textiles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Smith and a sister, Coleen Smith Brown.
Survivors include his children, Theodore Smith, Jimmy Smith, Shirley Sutton, Marie Headen, Virginia Nettles, all of Siler City, Thomas Smith of Jacksonville, Brenda Snips of Greensboro, Henry Smith of Lillington; 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
MELODI ANN MICHAEL THRIFT
Melodi Ann Michael Thrift, 45, of Siler City died Monday, (01-09-2012) at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be Thursday, (01-12-2012) at 2 p.m. at Rocky River Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Thrift was born July 26, 1966 in Smithfield. She was employed with the UNC Public Health System, and attended Rocky River Baptist Church. Melodi was active in PTA and volunteered for other community activities.
She is survived by her husband, William Trent Thrift; sons, Jimmy Wayne Worrells of Killeen, TX, Lars Ahren Thrift and Erik Thomas Thrift, both of the home; one grandson; mother and step-father, Patricia and Freddie Howell of Selma; sisters, Edie Michael of Selma, Gina Lowery of Mooresville, D’Ann Richard of Charlotte; and one brother, C. G. Howell of Princeton.

MARSHALL REID OLDHAM
Marshall Reid Oldham, 56, of Bear Creek died Monday, (01-09-2012) at Duke University Medical Center, Durham.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, (01-12-2012) at 2 p.m. at Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating.
Mr. Oldham was born May 26, 1955 in Chatham County, the son of John M. and Zetta (Bright) Oldham. He was preceded in death by his parents.

JIMMY VERLE WARD
Jimmy Verle Ward, 80, of Ward Road, Staley died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Care View Rest Home, Snow Camp.
Mr. Ward was born in Randolph County, December 8, 1931, the son of Verlie and Ethel (Fogleman) Ward. He was the owner/operator of Ward’s Sheet Metal and Roofing and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family on the farm and at Badin Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Verlie Ward; brothers-in-law, H. L. Langley and Curtis Budd. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Ondrea, Linda and all the assistants of Care View Rest Home and Community Home Care and Hospice for their loving care.
Survivors include one sister, Jane Ward Budd of Liberty; one brother, Jerry Ward and wife Faye of Siler City; niece, Dawn Ward Elkins and husband Ron; grand niece, Sarah Elizabeth Elkins and grand nephew, Justin Ward Elkins.
The family received friends Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, and other times at the home of Jerry and Faye Ward, 311 South Third Avenue, Siler City.
The funeral was held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clifford Williams and Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial followed in Staley Cemetery with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

REXFORD JOHNSON
Rexford Johnson, age 85, of 808 Wagoner Road, Elon passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at his residence.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Lillian Kirby Johnson and son of the late Euliss and Lillie Elmore Johnson. He was a member of Burlington Assembly of God, where he served as Deacon and a Deacon in Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church. He had been an employee of Hadley-Peoples in Siler City for 53 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Kirby Johnson of the home; daughter, Patricia J. Cox of Elon; son, Michael Kirby Johnson of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Adam Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Andrea Cox and Jonathon Cox; brothers, Roland Johnson of Yadkinville and Paul Johnson of Burlington; sisters, Margaret Hough, June Carol Easter, both of Siler City and Doris Talent of Yadkinville; He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Abee and Magdalene Gaines; brothers, Herman Johnson and Herbert Johnson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Howard Thompson. Interment was in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Johnson remained at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family received friends at the funeral home following the funeral service.

MRS. RUTH RICE WITMER
Mrs. Ruth Rice Witmer, 90, of Sanford, died Monday, (10-16-2006) at Sanford Health and Rehab.
The memorial service for Mrs. Witmer will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (11-04-2006) at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Pittsboro. Interment was previously done in Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, FL.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Henderson Powell of Moncure; step-daughters, Velma Hoover Tashman of Venice, FL., Carol Witmer Cathey of Las Vegas, NV.; step-sons, Ronald Witmer of Boston, MA.; Lynn Witmer of Atlanta, GA.; two granddaughters, six great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

MARIE J. STONE
Marie J. Stone, 69, of Moncure died Tuesday (10-17-2006) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, (10-20-2006) at the Haywood Independent Bible Church with Rev. Richard Wright, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Stone was a native of Wake County, served 32 years as an accountant with UNC. She served as book-keeper for the Salvation Army and the Council on Aging for several years. She was a former member of the Three River District Boy Scouting Organization, and had served as former secretary of the Chatham County Republican Party.
Survivors include her husband, David Stone of the home; son, Scott Stone of Moncure; mother, Pansy S. Jones of Pittsboro; brother, Stanley N. Jones of Snow Camp; sisters, Patsy J. Reynolds of Graham, Joyce J. Cotten of Pittsboro.

ARIZONA OPAL WALDON MOON
Mrs. Arizona Opal Waldon Moon, 83, of Liberty, died Sunday, (10-15-2006) at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (10-17-2006), at the First Church of the Nazarene of Burlington, with Rev. Bill Vinson, and Rev. Bruce Church, officiating. Burial followed at Cane Creek Friends Meeting in Snow Camp.
Survivors include her husband, Dacie Ernest Moon of Alamance Health Care; daughters, Deborah Moon Brown, Sandy Moon Parham, both of Burlington; Myrtle Moon Phillips of Liberty; ; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dacie Ernest Moon, 84, of Liberty died Monday (10-23-2006), at the Hospice Home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday (10-25-2006) at the First Church of the Nazarene in Burlington. Burial followed at Cane Creek Friends Meeting in Snow Camp.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah Moon Brown, Sandy Moon Parham, both of Burlington, Myrtle Moon Phillips of Liberty; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY MOBLEY TYSOR
Mrs. Dorothy Mobley Tysor, 80, of Pittsboro died Thursday (10-19-2006) at the Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday (10-22-2006) at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Ray Gooch officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Tysor was born in Chatham County, graduated from Goldston High School, was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Moon of Snow Camp, Trudy Davis of Greensboro, Dixie Cline of Pittsboro; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

JOHN TEUNIS VERGEER
Mr. John Teunis Vergeer, 78, died Thursday, (10-19-2006).
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Vergeer was a native of Grand Rapids, MI., a graduate of Hope College in Ann Arbor, MI., and served as vice president of Continental Bank in Chicago. He served as the financial manager for the Seventh Day Baptist Church, and in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Melicent Huneycutt-Vergeer of the home; son, Vytas V. Vergeer of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Fred Vergeer of Thompson, GA.; and two grandchildren.

MR. BEVERLY HENRY SULLIVAN
Beverly Henry Sullivan, 61, of Siler City, died at his home in Silk Hope on Friday, (10-20-2006).
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, (10-24-2006), at Griffin funeral service and Cremation in Pittsboro.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; sons, Earl Bunn of Raleigh, Jonathan Sullivan of Broadway; daughter, Brandi Norwood of New Windsor, MD.; four grandchildren; sister, Betty Bullard of Fayetteville; and brother, Lee Sullivan of Pittsboro.
