DAVID W. FAGG
David William Fagg, 70, of Asheboro died Sunday (02-20-2005) at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, (02-23-2005) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Ramseur with Rev. Danny Jarrell and Rev. Roy Fagg officiating. Burial followed in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Fagg was a native of Guilford County who served in the US Army in Stugard, Germany. He was employed with Burlington Industries, Sapona Mfg. and Guilford Mills before owning and operating Dairy Breeze in Seagrove for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Brady Fagg of the home; daughter, Martha Porter of Randleman; step-son, Dennis Priddy of Bennett; step-daughter, Tana P. Keenan of Asheboro; sister, Linda F. Phillips of Greensboro; brothers, Louis Fagg and Harry Fagg, both of Siler City; four step-grandchildren.

MARY FRANCES ZEIGEN "BUNNY" STONE
Mary Frances Zeigen "Bunny" Stone, 79, of Sanford, owner of Rainy Day Farm died February 9, 2005 at UNC Hospitals.
Bunny was born in Monroe, La., on November 16, 1925, the daughter of George William and Beatrice Virginia Hall Zeigen. Her father was a native of Saginaw, MI. As a geologist, he owned several oil wells and was the first person to fly in Louisiana. Her mother was a native of England, and was quite fluent in six different languages. An active person from the onset, as a youth, Bunny was a camp counselor and set a number of swimming records. Bunny entered Randolph-Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, Va at age 16, graduating in 1946. Just prior to graduating, she married Dr. Charles H. Stone, III of Coatesville, Pa. Their twenty four year union produced six children. During that time, Bunny served on various planning boards, was a member of the Philadelphia Garden Club, was an accountant for her husband’s medical office and also obtained her LPN license.
She served on the hospital board auxiliary as well as volunteering to help other individuals and civic organizations and actively served in Trinity Episcopal Church. Bunny moved to the Pittsboro area in 1976. Always a lover of nature, she was extremely well versed in plant knowledge. Known as an astute horticulturalist and master gardener, she enjoyed sharing her vast plant and land information with anyone who asked. She again served on various planning boards in the county; as well as becoming a tree farmer and a brick mason. Bunny become involved in the Triangle Land Conservancy and a White Pines Volunteer. She was fundamental in assisting the preservation of Deep River wetlands, volunteering countless hours of time, effort and knowledge.
Mrs. Stone is survived by her sons, Charles Henry "Rocky" Stone, IV and his wife, Mary of Elverson, PA, William Hugh "Chip" Stone of Fairfield, IA, George Steele Stone and his wife Jean of Asbury community; her daughers, Debby A.C.S. Wakefield of Oakland township, Anne Exton Stone and her husband John Fazzio of Charleston, S.C., Patricia Hall "Sandy" Michenfleder and her husband Jack of Wilsonville; eight grandchildren, Charles H. "Dusty" Stone, V, Dawn Lambert, Roger Stone, Jonathan Woodham, Paul Tapley Worth, Corbett Stone Conrad, John Michenfleder, Abby Michenfleder; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Hannah Stone, Anne Lambert, Peter Lambert, Jane Lambert; and a sister, Patricia H. Grover of Florence, AL. Her parents preceded her in death.
A private committal will be conducted from the graveside in the Gunter-Stone Family Cemetery, located at Rainy Day Farm. Plans for a memorial service to be open to the public, will be announced at a later date.

JOHN LOUIS KLINE, JR.
John Louis Kline, Jr., 82, of Siler City died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 2 Saturday, February 12, 2005, at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home with Father Michael Lorentsen, OFM-CONV, officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites.
Mr. Kline was a native of Baltimore, MD, a 1947 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, and Commander in the U.S. Navy, retired with 27 years. He served during WWII, the Korean Conflict, Viet-Nam, Dominican Republic and Cuban Missile Crisis. He was very involved with fund raising and fund raising events as Executive Director of the Arthritis Foundation, 1971-1984. At home, he was co-founder of the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department in Orange County. The Klines' retired to Siler City, where Mrs. Kline is originally from.
Survivors include his wife, of 57 years, Jean Goode Kline of Siler City; daughters, Sandy K. Cook and Debbie A. Biles and husband, Kevin of Siler City; brothers, Norris H. Kline of Maryland, Thomas K. Kline of Missouri; sister, Mary Ellen Riley of Maryland; and grandchildren, Andy Couch, Laura Couch, Nick Cook, Jenny Cook, Johnny Cook, Justin Biles, and Cassie Biles.
BETTY JANE ANDERSON BURNS
Betty Anderson Burns, 68 of 4056 McLaurin Road, Bear Creek died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at her home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Williams, officiating.
Mrs. Burns was a native of Richmond, Va., of the Methodist faith and retired from Sara Lee.
Survivors include her husband, L. Ervin Burns of the home; son, Chris Craft and wife, Janet of Pittsboro; twin brother, Bobby Anderson of Hopewell, Va.; brother-in-law, Ret. Col. Lindo Burns of Poquson, Va., two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and dear friends, Michelle Martorano of Jacksonville, Fl., and Brenda Sullivan of Bear Creek.

MARIE APPLE SMITH
Marie Apple Smith, 79, of 203 Nelson Street, Siler City died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 at West End United Methodist Church, Siler City with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Guilford County, a member of West End United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Guy D. Smith of Siler City; daughters, Shirley Lucas of Siler City, Anna Smario and husband, Tony of Greensboro; brothers, Robert Apple and wife, Janet of Wilson, Dwight Apple of Greensboro; sisters, Shirley Case of Greensboro, Geraldine Clontz and husband, Robert of Liberty, Joy Heath and husband, Billy of Greensboro; grandsons, Tim Johnson and fiancee, Kristen Kivett of Greensboro and Joe Perry and wife, Kim of Apex.

HAZEL JORNDT KUEHM
Mrs. Hazel Jorndt Kuehm, 89, of Siler City, formerly of Pittsboro, died Tuesday, (02-08-2005) at Sunbridge Care Center in Siler City.
No services will be conducted at this time.
Mrs. Kuehm was a native of New Jersey, worked as a bridal consultant for most of her employment years, and was receptionist at Carolina Meadows for ten years. She was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are her daughter, Sue Hendricks of Siler City.
DEBBIE K. SLAUGHTER
Debbie Kiser Slaughter, 48, of Seagrove died Wednesday, (02-09-2005) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Friday, (02-11-2005) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Hileman, officiating. Burial followed in the Kiser Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Slaughter was a native of Randolph County, a nurse employed with First Health Moore Regional Hospital for 27 years, a member of Antioch Christian Church, and attended Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Slaughter, Jr. of the home; son, Tyler Jacob Slaughter of the home; daughters, Kendra Alison Slaughter of Cullowhee, Lauren Ashley Slaughter of the home; parents, J.C. and Margie Caviness Kiser of Seagrove; sisters, Rebecca Tedder, Jeanne Clark, both of Asheboro, Cynthia Graves of Hope Mills, Helen Beck of Seagrove; brothers, Neal Kiser of Denton, James Kiser of Asheboro, and Chris Kiser of Dallas, Texas.

MARY OLIVIA MANN SMITH
Mary Olivia Mann Smith, 99, of Pittsboro, died Saturday (02-12-2005) in Hospice at Meadowlands in Hillsborough.
She was a native of Chatham County and a registered nurse.
Funeral services were held at 11 am on Monday, (02-14-2005) in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include sisters, Blanche Strowd of Chapel Hill, and Hazel Ray of Chesapeake, Va.
EARL BUCKNER
Earl Buckner, 87 of Siler City, died Friday, (02-11-2005) at Universal Health Care in Ramseur.
Graveside services were held at 11 am on Monday, (02-14-2005) at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Cemetery, Siler City with Rev. Wayne Bryson and Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating.
Mr. Buckner was a native of Chatham County; attended Harmony Baptist Church, and was a member of American Legion Post #93 and the NC Retired Government Employee’s Association.
Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Smith Buckner of the home; step-sons, O’Carroll Buckner, Thomas Coward, both of Siler City; step-daughter, Sara C. Culberson of Siler City, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

JAMES CLETUS WHITEHEAD
James Cletus Whitehead, 92 of Siler City died Saturday, (02-12-2005) at Sunbridge Care Facilities in Siler City.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, (02-15-2005) at 11 am at Glendon Christian Church, Glendon, with Rev. Jack Phillips and Rev. Joe Johnson, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Whitehead was a native of Alamance County, a member of First United Methodist Church, Siler City, and retired owner/operator of Siler City Tire Company.
BETTY H. CARTER
Betty H. Carter, 68, of Chapel Hill died at her home Sunday, (02-13-2005).
Memorial services are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday (02-17-2005) in the Chapel at Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill.
The family will be receiving friends from 12-2, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include daughters, Tammy Cerdena and Kim Cogdell, both of Chapel Hill; sons, David Carter of Chapel Hill, Ronnie Carter of Hillsborough, Ricky Carter of Wilmington; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the grandchildren.
ROBERT “BOBBY” STINICE JOURDAN
Robert “Bobby” Stinice Jourdan, 57, of Bear Creek died Thursday, (02-10-2005) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday (02-13-2005) at Bonlee Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Burial followed in Hope Cemetery, Bonlee.
Mr. Jourdan was a native of Lee County, a member of Bonlee Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school superintendent and was a member of the Adult #1 Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam war and was a lead technician with UNC Chapel Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Branson Jourdan of the home; sons, Gregory Stinice Jourdan of Siler City, Robert Bryan Jourdan of Goldston; sister, Linda J. Fields of Siler City; and three grandchildren.
