Mary Poe Moody, 85, of 963 Barker Road, Bear Creek died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at her home.
Graveside services and burial was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2005 at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Bear Creek with Rev. Cecil Tucker officiating.
Mrs. Moody was a native of Moore County, attended Sandy Branch Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam M. Moody, Sr., and a son, Sam M. Moody, Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda M. Griffin and husband, William of Gulf; sons, Ted Moody and wife Judy of High Shoals, Paul Moody and wife, Linda of Siler City, Toby Moody and wife, Betty of Bonlee, Wayne Moody and wife, Shannon of Staley, Terry Moody and special friend, Angie, of Goldston, twin sons, Lonnie Moody, Donnie Moody, both of Siler City; sister, Lillian Langley, Sanford; fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

DAVID WALTER MOORE
Mr. David Walter Moore, 74, of 923 Hillscrest Drive, Graham died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 3:20 pm at the Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2005 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, with Rev. Don Pegg, officiating. Burial followed in Alamance Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Mr. Moore was a native of Alamance County, a member of the Kennett Memorial Baptist Church and retired from GKN of Mebane, Associate Transport and Branch Motor Express. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Nichols Moore of the home; sons, Carl James Moore of Elm City, Charles Walter Moore of Graham; granddaughter, Elizabeth Nicole Moore of Smithfield; grandson, Jeffrey Carl Moore of Falls Church, Va.; sister, Clare Moore of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin N. and Jessie Broy Moore.
JANET D. SMITH
Janet Dickerson Smith, 72, of Lyman, SC died Monday (05-30-2005) at St. Francis.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday (06-02-2005) at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Clark and Rev. Chris Jackson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Spindale, a homemaker, and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, O. C. Smith of the home; son, Dennis Smith of Coyote, NM; daughters, Susan Kercher of Inman, SC, Janet Lawson of Union, SC, Lori Leslie of Easley, SC; sisters, Inez Dickerson Jones of Bennett, Molly D. RACHEL STONE BROOKS
Rachel Stone Brooks, 81 of Siler City died Friday, (06-03-2005) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held on Sunday (06-05-2005) at 2 p.m. at Loves Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Helms officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks was a native of Chatham County, a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of Womens #3 Sunday School Class and the Exie Stone Mission Action Group. She attended Phieffer College, was secretary at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home for eight years, and retired as a secretary from Van Thomas Contractors, Inc. and was a member of the Chatham Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, C.B. Brooks of the home; and a sister, Ruth Moore of Siler City. Memorials may be made to Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Bus Fund, 14680 US Hwy 64, Siler City, NC 27344.
ETHEL McKEE EARL
Ethel McKee Earl, 85 of Sanford died Sunday, (05-29-2005).
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
She was a native of Ramsey, NJ and was director of the Dental Assisting Program at UNC in Chapel Hill.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Rogers of Deland, FL, Jackie Merritt of Longmont, Col.; son, Robert Earl, Jr. of Sanford; sister, Eleanor Hill of Jacksonville, FL.; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. RUBY MARIE DUNN FOWLER
Ruby Marie Dunn Fowler, 67 of Bear Creek died Monday, (06-06-2005) at her home.
Graveside services and burial were held on Wednesday, (06-08-2005) at 2 pm at Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery in Bennett.
Mrs. Fowler was a native of Chatham County, a retired sales clerk, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include daughters, Brenda Rigsbee, Margaret Smith of Bear Creek; son, James Dunn of Bear Creek; brothers, Willard Dunn of Goldston, Vance Dunn of Bear Creek, Roland Dunn, Clarence Dunn, both of Sanford; sisters, Bonnie Cashwell of Clinton, Barbara Gregory of Fuquay-Varina, Linda Arnette, Cameron; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
LOLA T. THOMPSON
Mrs. Lola Thompson Thompson, 90, of Asheboro died Monday, (06-06-2005).
Funeral services are being held Thursday, (06-09-2005) at 11 am at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Siler City.
Mrs. Thompson was a native of Siler City and a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Staley of Asheboro, Mabel Hodge of Phenix City, AL, Irene Parham of Asheboro; sons, Elmer Lacy Thompson, Jr. of Waycross, GA., Larry Thompson of Bennettsville, SC; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Rev. C. David Moore, 54, of Statesboro, Ga., died Tuesday, (05-17-2005) at St. Joseph’s/Candler in Savannah.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday (05-20-2005) in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Hindman officiating. Burial followed in the Corinth-Leefield Cemetery.
Rev. Moore was a graduate of Groves High School in Savannah and Luther Rice Baptist College in Jacksonville, FL. He was a former pastor of Dry Branch Baptist Church in Jenkins County and pastored several other churches in the surrounding area. He was a former human resource supervisor at Townsends, Inc. in Siler City.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Moore of Statesboro; daughters, Candace Hindman of Beaufort, S.C., Jennifer Tyler of Middleburg, FL; two granddaughters; mother, Bessie Paul Moore of Oliver; brothers, Michael Moore of New Hampshire, Stanley Moore of Savannah, and Andy Moore of Peachtree City, GA.; and sister, Dii Ann West of Atlanta, GA.
MABEL JONES KING
Mabel Jones King, 81 of Moncure, died Monday, (05-23-2005) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
Graveside services and burial were held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2005 at New Elam Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Tommy Steele, Jr.
Mrs. King was a native of Chatham County and a previous employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include her son, Jesse C. King, Moncure; daughter, Frances Lee King of the home; brother, B.C. Jones, Apex; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

JOHN M. SMITH
Mr. John M. Smith, 89, of Pittsboro, died Tuesday (05-24-2005) at his residence.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor John Singletary, at 11 am on Friday, (05-27-2005) at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mr. Smith, a native of Moore County attended Chapel Hill School and worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir, and Bynum Ruritan Club, where he was Ruritan of the Year in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Charles Edward Smith of Hillsborough, James “Lee” Smith of Mebane, Kenneth Earl Smith of Pikesville; daughters, Carolyn Smith Kilpatrick of Chapel Hill, Alice Smith Mooney of Chapel Hill, Dianne Smith Cates of Pittsboro, Gail Smith Bryant of Moncure; brother, James G. “Bill” Smith of Goldston; sisters, Annie Belle Smith Thompson of Ft. Pierce, FL., Lucille Smith Anderson of Siler City, Pauline Smith Myers of the home; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Tydes Ray Brown, 56, of Bennett died Friday, (05-27-2005) at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Monday, (05-30-2005) at Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Thomas Foley officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was a native of Chatham County, employed with Ramtex, Inc., and a member of Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Garner Brown of the home; daughter, Elizabeth B. Wilkie of Siler City; brother, Wilse Brown of Bennett; sisters, Nora Lee Ellis, Eva Brown, Carolyn Moore, all of Bennett; and one granddaughter.
LULA McCASKILL DUNLAP
Mrs. Lula McCaskill Dunlap, 91, of Robbins died Saturday, (05-28-2005) at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Tuesday (05-31-2005) at Union Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Chaney and Rev. Grady Blakley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Dunlap was a native of Montgomery County, a homemaker, and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mary O’Quinn of Biscoe; and brothers, Jesse and Joel McCaskill, both of Biscoe.

CHARLES F. HARBISON
Charles F. Harbison, 85, of Pittsboro died Saturday (05-28-2005) at the Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm on Monday (05-30-2005) at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Rex Brooks, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Burke County, Mr. Harbison was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Marines and was retired from the Chapel Hill Telephone Company.
Survivors include his wife, Matilda S. Harbison; daughters, Peggy Williams of Ennice, Marianne Odom of Summerville, SC; son, Sid Harbison of New Hill; sisters, Margaret Hoyle, Ruth Carr, both of Morganton; six grandchildren and one great- grandson.
