ROBERT LEE MASON
Robert Lee Mason, 77, of Moncure died Monday (11-07-2005) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (11-10-2005) at New Elam Christian Church with Rev. Gary Moore and Rev. Emerson Woodall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Mason was a native of Lee County and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Helen P. Mason of the home; daughters, Linda M. Childress, Jeanie M. Ray, both of Moncure; brother, Jack Mason of Greensboro; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, (11-09-2005) at Smith Funeral Home of Moncure, and at other times, at the home, 834 Flatwoods Road in Moncure.

BLANCHE HUSSEY CAVINESS
Mrs. Blanche Hussey Caviness, 82, of 1563 George P. Road, Robbins, died Sunday morning, November 6, 2005.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Stacey Layne officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Caviness was a native of Moore County, the widow of Claudie Leon Caviness and a retiree of Carolina Lace Company. She was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church and taught the toddlers Sunday school class for 46 years. She also enjoyed quilting, growing flowers and preserving and canning.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy C. and Phillip Morgan of Winston-Salem; sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Pamela Caviness of Chadburn, Richard L. and Pamela Caviness of Robbins; sisters, Louvene Seawell of Bennett, Cora Mullins of Robbins, Estelle Garner of Seagrove, Grace Jones of Apex; brothers, Johnny Hussey of Robbins, James Hussey of Trinity; grandchildren, John and David Morgan, James and Michael Caviness, and Matthew and Stephen Caviness.

DOROTHY "DOT" HUDLER PHILLIPS
Dorothy "Dot" Hudler Phillips, 73, of 1014 Driftwood Drive, Siler City died Monday, November 7, 2005 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2005 at Brookdale Baptist Church, 1133 West Third Street, Siler City with Rev. Randy Queen and Rev. Walter Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips was a native of Ashe County, graduate of a beauty college and was retired owner/operator of Dot's Beauty Box. She was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church were she served as Sunday school secretary, Adult Sunday school class and social committee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl M. Phillips, Sr., father Arthur P. Hudler, brothers, Howard Hudler and Herman Hudler.
Survivors include mother, Carrie Hamby Hudler, Jefferson; sisters, Lib Hudler of Jefferson, Naomi Sheets of Concord; brothers, Harold Hudler of Glendale Springs, James Hudler of Statesville; daughter, Janet H. Earl of Killeen, Tx.; step-son, Burl M. Phillips, Jr., Siler City; step-daughters, June P. Price, Donna P. Brewer, both of Siler City; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City.

MRS. IRENE BROOKS GOLDSTON
Mrs. Irene Brooks Goldston, 86, of Pittsboro died Friday, (10-21-2005) at Moore Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, (10-25-2005) at Alston Chapel United Holiness Church, with Elder J. W. Brooks officiating. Burial followed at Mitchell Chapel Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Goldston was a native of Chatham County, and a member of Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church. She was a member of the Sunday school and adult choir at Alston Chapel Church.
Surviving are daughters, Hazel Headen, Catherine Alston, both of Siler City; sons, Len Robert Headen, Guy Alston, both of Siler City; six grandchildren, six great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild.
VANETTA FREEMAN JOHNSON
Vanetta Freeman Johnson, 63, of Pittsboro died Thursday (10-27-2005) at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, (10-30-2005) at Griffin funeral service Chapel, with Rev. David Hicks and Rev. Mitch Roginsky officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City.
Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Pittsboro High School, and worked for 30 years with the Department of Justice.
Survivors include a son, Paul Johnson of Pittsboro; daughter, Lisa Johnson Langley of Pittsboro; one granddaughter; sister, Vickie Millenbaugh of Goldston; brothers, Hollis Freeman of Goldston, Barry Freeman of Tillery,

ROBERT PASCHAL BURNS
Mr. Robert Paschal Burns, 71, of Bennett died Friday at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
There will be no funeral or visitation held.
Mr. Burns was a native of Person County and a retired professor in the School of Architecture at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
Survivors include his wife, Norma DeCamp Burns of the home; son, Robert Adam Burns of Wilmington; daughters, Emily Carter Smith of Hillsborough, Linda Paige Burns of Southern Pines; sister, Betty Kennington of Statesville; brothers, Paul Lacy Burns of Wake Forest, Norvel Burns of Raleigh; and two grandchildren.

GLADYS MORRIS
Gladys Morris, 82 of Berlin, Maryland died Monday, (10-17-2005) in Siler City.
Visitation will be held at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, P.A., in Owings, Md., on Saturday (11-05-2005) from 2 p.m. until memorial services begin at 3 p.m.

DONALD LEE CARTER
Mr. Donald Lee Carter, 52, of Siler City died Sunday, (10-30-2005) at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, (11-03-2005) at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Gray, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service on Thursday, at other times the family will be at 1110 Shepard Street.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Christy Carter; son, Michael Taylor, both of Durham; one grandson; mother, Mrs. Christine Carter of the home; sisters, Mrs. Patricia Johnson, Mrs. Rosa C. Marsh, Mrs. Bertha Shamburger, all of Siler City, Miss Mary Jane Carter of Troy; brothers, Mr. Clifton Carter, Earl Carter, and Rev. Gary Carter, all of Siler City.
WILLIAM THOMAS SMITH
William Thomas Smith, 67, of 4387 Shooting Star Drive, Liberty died Friday, October 28, 2005 in Winston-Salem.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2005 at Tyson's Creek Baptist Church, Bear Creek with Rev. Randy Hand officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a native of Chatham County, a truck driver for Gilmore's Nursery, and a member of Tyson's Creek Baptist Church and the Sunday school class. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his daughter, Cathy S. Judge of Siler City; sons, Steven Smith of the US Army in Iraq, Thomas Smith of High Point; step-son, Jeff McDaniel of Greensboro; sisters, Rachel Turner of Raleigh, Sue Copeland, Bear Creek; brother, Joe D. Smith of Bear Creek; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, November 2 and 3, 2005 at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City., at other times, at the family home, 18491 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek.

ROY JACKSON GRAVES
Roy Jackson Graves, 75, of 1320 West Raleigh Street, Siler City died Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Tad Marshall and Rev. Billy Joe Brady, officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park.
Mr. Graves was a native of Cullman County, Alabama, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, attended Community Baptist Church and was retired from Siler City Mills and Gold Kist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Floy Harvell Graves.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Fields Graves of the home; son, Ricky Lynn Graves and wife, Teresa of Siler City; granddaughter, Hillary Graves; and grandson, Cliff Graves.

JOHN ROBERT FOX
John Robert Fox, 48, of 775 Rufus Brewer Road, Siler City died Monday, October 31, 2005 at SunBridge Care Facilities in Siler City.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City with Rev. Lamont Hemminger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Fox was a native of Chatham County, a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church where he was in the church choir and the adult Sunday school class. He was employed with Gold Kist Poultry Processing Plant.
Survivors include aunts: Rhea Brown of Annapolis, MD., Catherine Campbell, VA.; uncle, Edward Hagelin of Lusby, MD; cousins, John Gilbert Fox, Siler City, Joycell Millikan, Ethelene Garrett, both of Liberty, Iva Mae Gibbs, Greensboro, Faye White of Bonlee, and James H. Fox of Siler City.
Visitation was held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home; at other times at the home of John Gilbert Fox, 917 Rufus Brewer Road, Siler City.

TIMOTHY "TIM" OLIVER SCOTT
Timothy "Tim" Oliver Scott, 38, of 224 North Tenth Avenue, Siler City died Monday, October 31, 2005.
Graveside services and burial were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City with Rev. Herbert Lowery officiating.
Tim was a Chatham County native and was the son of Geraldine "Jerrie" Strickland Scott and the late Sherman Scott. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Steven Scott of the home.
In addition to his father he was also predeceased by grandparents, Rossie and Annie May Scott and Oliver and Trecie Strickland.
The family was at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home in Bennett on Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service. At other times the family was at the Irene Carnes residence, 1710 East 11th Street, Siler City.
