CARSON OLIN "LIN" WIGGINS, Jr.
Carson Olin "Lin" Wiggins, Jr., 49, of Pittsboro, died Monday (01-19-2004), at Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy.
Services were conducted at Pittsboro Baptist Church by Rev. George W. Johnson Thursday (01-22-2004). A second service was conducted by Rev. Doug Lain Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church in Haw River with interment following in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Moore Wiggins of the home; son, Bryan Wiggins of Lakeville, Mn., daughters Karlie Wiggins of the home, Kady Wiggins of Lakeville, Mn., parents Rev. Carson and Mrs. Moeine Wiggins of Haw River; brother, Steve Wiggins of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Deborah Furbish, Renee Lawing, and Joyce Wiggins, all of Raleigh, and Lisa Wiggins of Clemmons.
Mr. Wiggins was a native of Gaston County and attended Pittsboro Baptist Church. He was the Unit Head for Bridge Maintenance and Inspection for NC DOT.

CATHERINE DURHAM BAILEY
Mrs. Catherine Durham Bailey, 89, of Raleigh died Wednesday, January 14, 2004. She was born on August 5, 1914 in Chatham County to the late Henry Franklin Durham and Mary Ellen Snipes Durham. She was the widow of John Blois Bailey who died in 1981. Mrs. Bailey was a member of Westover United Methodist Church since 1952.
She is survived by a son, Henry David Bailey and wife Margaret of Raleigh; daughter, Mary Bailey Miller of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Christy Bailey, Melanie Lewis, Wilson Miller, Jed Miller and four great-grandchildren; sister-in- laws, Grace Greene Barber and Mary Baldinger.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday January 19, 2004 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, by the Rev. Johnnie Wright and Rev. George Megill. Interment followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.
The family deeply appreciates the dedication and compassion shown to Mrs. Bailey by the staff of Mayview Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Fields was a native of Guilford County, a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis (Buck) Fields.
Survivors include daughters, Patsy F. Harris and husband, Boyd of Bear Creek, Gail F. Petty and husband, Lacy and Denise F. Hamrick, both of Siler City; grandsons, Jeff Harris and wife, Mamie of Garner, Scott Harris and wife, Jennifer of Bear Creek, Isaac Petty of Siler City; great granddaughters Heather and Ashton Harris of Garner; sister, Iris Gilliland of Pleasant Garden; special friends, Alice Fields and Mary Burke, both of Bear Creek.

MILDRED COGGINS HICKS
Mildred Coggins Hicks, 88, of 1101 South Chatham Avenue, Siler City died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Sun Bridge Care Facilities.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Moon's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Faw and Rev. Garland Bordeaux, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hicks was a native of Moore county and a member of Moon's Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and served as secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hicks.
Survivors include son, Charles D. Hicks and wife, Barbara of Siler City; granddaughters, Denise H. Suits of Staley, Gay Hicks and Cathy H. Fields of Siler City; great-grandchildren, Matt Phillips, Brandon Fields, Chris Suits, and Cassie Suits.

WADE BOONE LEMONS
Wade Boone Lemons, 79, a native of Chatham County, died Monday (01-12-2004) at home.
Funeral services were held Thursday (01-15-2004) at Pittsboro United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Doris T. Lemons of the home; daughter, Resa L. Webster of Pittsboro; son, Brent Lemons of Apex; brothers, Earl Lemons of Beaulaville, Pete Lemons of Pittsboro; sister, Elizabeth Hardie of Graham, and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pittsboro United Methodist Church.
JOHN COY BREEDLOVE
John Coy Breedlove, 80, of Old Sanford Road, Moncure, died Sunday (01-18-2004) at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Lee Edwards, Wednesday (01-21-2004) at Chatham Methodist Church. Interment, with military rites, followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Breedlove was a native of Randolph County and served in the US Navy during World War II. He retired from Allied Chemical (now Honeywell) in Moncure and was a member of Chatham Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, Jimmy and Johnny Breedlove, of Pittsboro; daughters, Barbara Jean Breedlove of Pittsboro, Kathy Ann Dixon of Siler City, and Angela Deal of Olivia; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

KATHLEEN SHIELDS GRIFFIN
Kathleen Shields Griffin, 89, died Tuesday (01-20-2004) at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.
Mrs. Griffin was a native of Moore County and a former Secretary/Treasurer, and receptionist for Griffin Funeral Home. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Pittsboro Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (01-23-2004) at Pittsboro Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tripp Harmon, Rev. Ray Gooch, and Rev. John Robinson. Burial will follow in Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery.
Survivors include sons, Gene Griffin of Sanford and Billy L. Griffin of Pittsboro; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday (01-22-2004) at Griffin funeral service and Cremation.

FRANK BROWER PEARCE
Frank Brower Pearce, 69, of 101 South Third Avenue, Siler City died at home, Monday, January 12, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, conducted by Rev. Jerry Foley. Burial will follow in Community Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City..
Mr. Pearce was a native of Chatham County, a Marine veteran and was retired from Vest Textiles and Machinery. He was a member of Chatham County Shriners and Mt. Vernon Lodge # 146 AF & AM. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Beck Pearce.
Survivors include daughter, Carol P. Dark and husband, Johnny of Siler City; son, Mark W. Pearce and wife, Pam of Broadway; sister, Sue Phillips of Livonia, MI.; brothers, Clinton A. Pearce of Siler City, J. Neal Pearce of Asheboro; grandchildren, Caitlyn Dark, Matthew Pearce, Nathan Pearce; and special friend and companion, Ruby Branson.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City. At other times, the family will be at the home of Carol P. Dark, 325 Bowden Road, Siler City.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Mike Branson for all his assistance during their father's illness.

LILLIE PRICE STRICKLAND
Lillie Price Strickland, 89, of 5 West 25th St., Winston-Salem died Friday (01-09-2004) after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at noon on Wednesday (01-14-2004) at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Siler City, a homemaker, seamstress and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She is survived by daughter, Ramona Ann Payne of Greensboro; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mabel Mitchell of Siler City and Reta Marsh of Bear Creek.
JOHN FRANKLIN SHUKE, SR.
John Franklin Shuke, Sr., 83, 159 Pine Forest Drive, Siler City died Sunday (12-28-2003) at Chatham Hospital.
Private services were held on Wednesday (12-31-2003) and Saturday (01-03-2004).
Mr. Shuke served in the U.S. Army and was an active Rotarian for 20 years. He operated Buckners Jewelers in Siler City
Survivors include his wife, Iris Buckner of the home; son, John Franklin Shuke, Jr. of Siler City; brother, Charles Wayne Shuke of Findley, Ohio; sister, Edith Evelyn Shuke of Ravenna, Ohio; and one granddaughter.

Carrie Beal Dowd, 83, of 2654 Silk Hope Road, Siler City, died Tuesday (12-30-2003) at Sun Bridge Care Facilities.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday (01-01-2004) at Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, by Rev. Lamont Hemminger.
Mrs. Dowd was a native of Chatham County, a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church and was retired from Collins and Aikman Manufacturing Company in Siler City.
Survivors include daughters, Alice D Fox and Linda D. Groce, both of Siler City and Gail D. Henderson of Franklinville; sisters, Doris B. Young of Graham, Lois B. Whitaker of Pittsboro; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
MARY WOMBLE WILLIAMS
Mary Womble Williams, 96, of 416 West Harrison St, Reidsville died Tuesday (12-30-2003) at Fran Turner Family Care Home.
She was a native of Chatham County, a retired school teacher that taught in Siler City and various other locations.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday (01-02-2004) at Main Street United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Chatham United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are step-daughter, Lucile Parker of Kinston; two step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and four step great-great-grandchildren.

ROBERT LEE MOORE
Robert Lee Moore, 83, of 404 West Pine, Graham died Wednesday (12-31-2003) in Rehabilitation Health Care of Alamance
Funeral services were held Sunday (01-04-2004)) at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Ray Gooch. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Pearson County and a farmer. He was a veteran of WW II with the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtis Green Moore; daughters, Virginia Kay Nichols of Houston, Texas and Sandra Faye Darroch of Burlington; son, Robert William Moore of Pittsboro; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
