MYRTLE PIERCE JOHNSON

Myrtle Pierce Johnson, 83, of Pittsboro died Monday, January 26, 2004 at Durham Regional Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2004 at Apex Funeral Home. Burial followed in Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Patricia Lee Johnson and husband, Ronald D. Singleton of Pittsboro, LaVinnia P. Johnson of Chatham County, Diane L. Fowler and husband, William B. Fowler of Cape Carteret; sons, Darrow Ranshell Johnson and wife, Carol of Arcata, Ca., Joseph E. Johnson and wife, Karen of Greensboro and Williams O.J. Lynch and wife, Jocelyn of Wilmington; sisters, Honoree Butler and Violet Reynolds; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 11 S. Boylan Avenue, Raleigh, N. C. 27603.

TRACY JOHN TALLEY

Tracy John Talley, 73, of 2370 NC Hwy 42, Goldston died at home Wednesday (01-21-2004).

Funeral services were conducted Saturday (01-24-2004) at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, by Rev. Gyles Saunders and Rev. Buck Frye. Burial followed at Carbonton United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sanford.

Mr. Talley was a native of Chatham County, member of Carbonton United Methodist Church, and a retired truck driver for Ferrell Gas.

Survivors include son, Johnny Talley of Denton; daughters, Gwen T. McLambe of Broadway, Brenda T. Gaines of Goldston; brother, Bill Tally of Goldston; sisters, Jean T. Miller of Sanford, Helen T. Ellis of Greenville, S.C.; eleven grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

PEGGY KECK CRUTCHFIELD

Peggy Keck Crutchfield, 68, of 4671 Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Siler City died Wednesday (01-21-2004) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services were conducted at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home Chapel on Friday (01-23-2004), by Rev. Ray Gooch. Burial followed at Chatham Memorial Park.

Mrs. Crutchfield was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker and of the Methodist Faith.

Survivors include daughter, Teresa Crutchfield Lowe of Trinity; son, Joseph S (Joey) Crutchfield of Siler City; brother, Rev. Womack Keck of Badin; sister, Daisy K. Gorczyca of Woodsboro, Md.; and five grandchildren.

GEORGE HOWARD ALLRED

George Howard Allred , 89, of 610 N. Main St., Graham, formerly of Siler City, died Saturday (01-24-2004) at Graham Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday (01-30-2004) at Smith and Buckner Chapel in Siler City, conducted by Rev. Kevin Stumbo. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City.

Visitation will be held at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home Thursday (01-29-2004) from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Mr. Allred was a native of Randolph County and a retired supervisor with Boling Chair Company.

Surviving is sister, Elsie A. Shelton of Burlington.

BILLY HAYES MOTE

Billy Hayes Mote, 77, or 2706 Hamp Stone Road, Siler City died at home, Monday (01-26-2004)

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (01-31-2004) at Siler city Pentecostal Holiness Church in Siler City, conducted by Rev. Jerry Foley. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Mote was a native of Bladen County, a member of Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Branch Motor Express. He was a logger.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Merritt Mote of the home; five daughters, Brenda Mote Johnson of Alamance County, Joyce Mote Cole of Siler City, Billie Joe James of Goldston, Tina Teague of Alamance County and Mandy Mote; son, Chris Mote of Siler City; brothers, Nelson M. Mote of Orange, Va., and David G. Mote of Siler City; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday (01-30-2004), 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at 2706 Hamp Stone Road, Siler City.

KENNETH R. PRITCHARD

Kenneth R. Pritchard, 46, of 4250 N.C. Hwy 49, Liberty died Monday (01-26-2004) at his home.

Mr. Pritchard was a Moore County native and a retired used car salesman.

Survivors include wife, Sharron Manning Pritchard of the home; father and step-mother, William Rudolph and Sue Smith Pritchard of Asheboro; brothers, Jimmy Pritchard of Piedmont, S.C., Randy Pritchard of Rocky Mount, and William Ernest Pritchard of Biscoe.

The family will receive friends at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home in Bennett from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (01-30-2004).

Rev. Gyles Saunders will conduct a memorial service at 7:45 p.m., at the conclusion of the visitation.

ROBERT LEE OWENS

Robert Lee Owens, 79, of 310 West Wainman Avenue, Asheboro died Saturday (01-24-2004) at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside services will be held Sunday (02-01-2004) at 3 p.m. at Goldston Cemetery with Rev. Bob Wachs officiating..

Mr. Owens was a native of Randolph County, a Navy veteran of World War 11 and a retired cook.

Survivors include wife, June Owens of Asheboro; daughter, Robyn O. Lechuga of Brea, Ca.; brother, Paul Owens of Oreland, Pa.; sister, Louise A. Roberson of Pittsboro, and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday (01-31-2004) at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City. At other times, the family will be at the home of Jane Owens, 2319 S. Main Street, Goldston, N.C.

MOZELLE HUSSEY BRADY

Mrs. Mozelle Hussey Brady, 81, of 190 Brady Farm Road died Monday (01-26-2004) at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday (01-30-2004) at High Falls Wesleyan Church with Rev. Roger Riffe and Rev. James Cockram officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brady was a native of Moore County, attended High Falls Wesleyan Church, and retired from Mastercraft in Siler City.

Survivors include daughter, Bernice B. Geer of Bennett; son, Harvey C. Brady of Bennett; brothers, Richard Hussey and Elaster "Boob" Hussey both of Robbins; five grandchildren, one step-grandchild, three great-grandchildren, and one step great- grandchild.

The family will receive friends Thursday, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home and at other times at the Paul and Bernice Geer residence, 505 Charlie Garner Road in Bennett.

ARLIE B. BEAL

Arlie Burnace Beal, age 79, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Moses Cone Hospital

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Tyson's Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Beal was a native of Chatham County and the son of the late Charlie B. Beal and Nancy Cox Beal. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during World War II and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He was the owner of Associated Brokers, Inc. and a member of AIMS and the National Food Brokers Association where he had been on the canned food committee. Mr. Beal was a volunteer with Urban Ministries and Social Services, a former board member of Crescent Rotary Club, a member of the Greensboro Country Club and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline White Beal; three daughters, Nancy Beal Zaremski and husband Terry of Charlotte, India Beal Cothren and husband Randall of Wilmington, Tommye Beal Kepp and husband James C. of Watkinsville, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 West Lee Street, Greensboro, N.C. 27406.

BARBARA PRICE HART

Barbara Price Hart, 52, of 1135 Silk Hope-Lindley Mill Road, Siler City died at home, Friday, January 23, 2004

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Darrell Williams and Rev. Larry Soblotne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hart was a native of Chatham County and was employed with Chatham County Animal Control.

Survivors include husband, Rudy W. Hart of Siler City; daughter, Jennifer S. Harris and husband, Scott of Bear Creek; brother, Thomas Allen (Tad Pole) Price and wife, Marilyn of Siler City; sisters, Suzanne P. Hicks and husband, Mike of Bear Creek, Jackie P. Pickard and husband Ronnie of Siler City, Nancy P. Dunn and husband, James Dunn, Jr. of Siler City, and Lucinda P. Pinnock and husband, Marty of Sanford; step-brother, Robert D. Price and wife, Nancy of Siler City; special family friends, Ed and Lynn Throckmorton, Carissa and Cameron Throckmorton.

LILLIAN BRIGHT EASTRIDGE

Lillian Bright Eastridge, 96, of Vass died at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines Saturday (01-24-2004)

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (01-30-2004) at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, Siler City, with Rev. Larry Soblotne officiating. Burial followed in Rives Chapel’s cemetery.

Mrs. Eastridge was a native of Chatham County, a member of the First Baptist Church and retired from Williams & Brower.

Visitation will be Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home.

Surviving is daughter, Lue Reittia Eastridge Mills of Vass.

JAMES W. "FID" COWARD

James W. "Fid" Coward, 89, of Ramseur, died Friday (01-23-2004) at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Funeral services were scheduled for Monday (01-26-2004) at Mt. Olivet Wesleyan Church conducted by Rev. A J. Kendrick. Burial followed at Parks Cross Roads Christian Church Cemetery in Ramseur.

Mr. Coward was a native of Randolph County and owner and operator of Coward Plumbing Service. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Wesleyan Church and VFW Post #9335.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Stuart Coward of the home; son, Thomas W. Coward of Ramseur; brother, Jim Coward of Siler City; sisters, Barbara Phillips of Siler City, Louise Overman and Betty Beard, both of Liberty, and Marie Cox of Randleman.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 890 Brady Ext., Ramseur, N.C. 27316.
