SANDRA TABAYOYON
Sandra Williams Tabayoyon 61, of 2800 Lanlier Drive, died Tuesday (06-08-2004) at her home.
A daughter of the late Curtis Williams and Ruth Yow Williams, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Williams.
Funeral was held at 4 p.m. Thursday, (06-10-2004) at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Forbes. Burial was in Zion Christian Church cemetery.
Surviving are husband, Arthur Tabayoyon; son, Forrest Denise and wife, Susan of Holly Springs; stepdaughter, Robin Frandson and husband Dan of Keller, Texas; brother, Gary Williams and wife Beth of Sanford: sisters, Karen Adams and husband Lanny, and Linda Starr and husband, David, all of Sanford; six grandchildren, Jacob Forrest Denise, Elizabeth Rae Denise, Derek Mahaffey, Justin Mahaffey, Kaitlyn Frandson and Kylie Frandson.
CATHERINE H. ALGEO
Catherine "Cassie" McMullin Howe Algeo, 62, died at her home outside Beaufort, Friday, June 11, 2004 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
A memorial service celebrating her life will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Morehead City, with Rev. H. G. Miller, and Rev. John Grayson, presiding. The family requests that no one wear black.
Reared in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Francis Daley, an Episcopal priest, and the late Helen Stewart.
She is survived by her husband, Clay; daughter, Anne McMullin Brantley and husband, Dan Brantley of Morehead City; sister, Margaret Daley of Baltimore, Md.; brother and sister-in-law, Darnall and Ernie Daley of Wyomissing, Pa.; and stepmother, Frances Daley, Penney Farms, Fla.
A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design and advertising, she taught in North Carolina public schools for 18 years, including several years in Siler City. She taught English at Chatham High School and art at Jordan-Matthews High School.
While in Siler City she established the Art for the Hospital Program. That program still continues.
Very active in Carteret County civic and business activities, she was a graphic designer and advertising consultant in Clayton Photo/Graphics, a commercial photography and design studio she established with her husband, Clay, in 1987.

MRS. ALMA HICKS
Mrs. Alma Hicks, 86, of Pittsboro, died Tuesday, (06-01-2004) at Laurels of Chatham.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 pm Friday, (06-04-2004) at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington with Rev. Jerry Sanders, officiating.
Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker, and a member of Solid rock Baptist Church in Pittsboro.
No immediate survivors.
MS. NELLIE BLAND
Ms. Nellie Bland, 93, of Pittsboro died at her home Tuesday (06-01-2004).
Funeral services were held at 1 pm Saturday, (06-05-2004) at Mt. Sinai AME Church. Burial followed in the Pittsboro Town Cemetery.
Ms. Bland was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Sinai AME Church.
Survivors include sisters, Sophia B. Lynn and Lilla Turner, both of Pittsboro; brothers, Jacob W. Bland of New York and Henry Bland of Pittsboro.
LILLIAN CURTIS RUSH
Lillian Curtis Rush, 83, of Siler City died Wednesday (06-02-2004) at NC Memorial Hospital at Chapel Hill.
The funeral was held at Piney Grove United Methodist Church at 10 am, Saturday, (06-05-2004) with Rev. Herbert Lowry officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Rush retired from Liberty Hosiery, a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, James Rush of Welaka, Florida; daughter, Brenda Houtchings of Siler City; sisters, Mrs. Bessie Mae Hussey of Franklinville, Mrs. Ruby Coley and Mrs. Bertha Wood, both of Asheboro; brother, Ray Curtis of Liberty; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

OLA LYNN CHEEK
Ola Lynn Cheek, 80, of Siler City died Tuesday (06-01-2004) at SunBridge Care Facilities.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 am, Friday (06-04-2004) at Piney Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Cheek was a native of Rockingham County, a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include husband, William Gorris Cheek of Siler City; daughters, Nancy C. Wilson and Kathy C. Chappell of Siler City, Kim Cheek of Bonlee; sons, Chester C. Craven of Georgia, Billy Cheek of Bear Creek; sister, Sue Perdue of Reidsville; brother, Reid Lynn of Reidsville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
JOSEPH DAVIS JOHNSON
Joseph Davis Johnson, 33, of Siler City died Saturday (06-05-2004).
Graveside service was held at 2 pm, Monday (06-07-2004) at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Cemetery, Pittsboro, with Rev. Michael Crosby officiating.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Chatham County and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Estelle Cook Johnson of Siler City; and one brother, Nathan Johnson of Siler City.
CAROLYN CARTER HUPP
Carolyn Carter Hupp, 97, of Winston-Salem died Friday (06-04-2004).
Graveside service was held Sunday (06-06-2004) at 2 pm in Hope Cemetery in Bonlee with Rev. Darrell Williams officiating.
Mrs. Hupp was a native of Chatham County and a member of the First Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was a registered nurse, retired from Aston Park in Asheville.
Survivors include a sister, Sallie C. Metcalfe of Asheville.

JAMES FRANK JOHNSON
James Frank Johnson, 65, of Siler City died Saturday, (06-05-2004) at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, (06-08-2004) at Rocky River Friends Meeting, Siler City with Rev. Gerald Pike and Hal Winslow, officiating.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Chatham County, a member of the Randolph County Honor Guard and retired from Selig Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include daughters, Thelma Pike and Wylma McCrary of Siler City, Marjorie Parrish of North Augusta, S.C.; sister, Joyce Johnston of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; brother, Robert Johnson of Goldston; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

SARAH E. MOSLEY
Sarah E. Mosley, 79, died Wednesday (05-26-2004).
Funeral services were held Thursday, (06-03-2004) at First Baptist Missionary Church, Pittsboro, with Rev. Larry Siler, officiating. Burial followed at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City.
Mrs. Mosley was a native of Chatham County and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsboro.
Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Delores Murphy, of Fayetteville; stepson, Walter Leon Rone of Manson; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
GEORGE NELSON STURDIVANT
George Nelson Sturdivant, 67, of 656 Sanford Road, died Saturday, June 5, 2004 in Laurels of Chatham.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm Tuesday (06-08-2004) in the Pittsboro Baptist Church with Rev. Tripp Harmon and Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Sturdivant was a native of Chatham County, a veteran of the US Army and a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church. He was a retired system analyst with IBM.
Surviving are his wife, Trudy Brooks Sturdivant; a son, Mitch Sturdivant and wife, Felicia; sister, Dorothy Braxton and husband, Wilson; a grandson, Will Sturdivant; and a step-granddaughter, Jennie Lanning.

MRS. BARBARA JEAN TURNER GOODWIN
Mrs. Barbara Jean Turner Goodwin, 69, of Pittsboro died Tuesday, (05-25-2004) at her home.
Services were conducted at 2 pm Friday, (05-28-2004) at Griffin Funeral Home with Rev. Andy McPherson and Rev. Matt Garrett officiating. Interment followed in Chatham Memorial Park.
Mrs. Goodwin was a homemaker, member of the Senior Jubilee Choir and Moncure Baptist Church Choir.
Surviving are her husband, David “Teembo” Goodwin of the home; son, Tommy of Graham; mother, Dorothy Thomas and her husband Paul; brother, Bill Turner of Raleigh; half-sister, Paula Ellington of Raleigh; and two granddaughters.

E. LEWIS HUSSEY
Eli Lewis Hussey, 80, of Seagrove died Tuesday (05-25-2004) at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, (05-28-2004) at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Baker, Rev. Gerald Hussey, and Rev. Charles Lassiter officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hussey was a native of Randolph County, a farmer and saw-miller, a member of Riverside Baptist Church where he served as deacon and on the cemetery committee.
Surviving is his wife, Myrtie Garner Hussey of the home; son, Ricky Hussey of the home; brother, James Hussey of Seagrove; sisters, Annie Mae Allison of Seagrove and Marie Garner of Robbins.
