KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. Ralph Willard Campbell, 86, of 1411 Birch Street, Kannapolis, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Salisbury.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, July 7, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Robert D. Howard will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of a granddaughter, Vonda Gray, 4740 Irish Potato Road, Kannapolis.
Mr. Campbell was born July 28, 1915 in Hickory, NC. He was a son of the late Clarence Campbell and Beulah Pruitt Campbell. He retired several years ago from Cannon Mills, Plant Four in Kannapolis. He formerly attended Church of God of the Bible.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Phillips, and a brother, Grover Campbell.
Mr. Campbell is survived by three daughters, Rebecca "Janie" Davidson of Kannapolis, Judy King of Augusta, GA, and Faye Honeycutt of Concord; son, Robert Campbell of Mooresville; three sisters, Rosie Mayberry of Galveston, GA, Lois Johns of Cleveland, TN, and Pauline Weathers of Chattanooga, TN; former wife, Viola Absher; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Melvin Brandon Walters

BIRTH DATE: March 1, 1921
DEATH DATE: July 6, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. Melvin Brandon Walters, 81, of 4595 Hilton Lake Road, Kannapolis, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Joey Spry and Rev. Jeff Helms will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mr. Walters.
Mr. Walters was born March 1, 1921 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Martin Walters and Minnie Irene Allman Walters. He was a retired service station operator.
Mr. Walters is survived by a daughter, Dolly Hartsell of Kannapolis; son, Melvin D. “Doug” Walters of Salisbury; six sisters, Doris Turner, Alma Lequire, Frances Slough, Lessie Hudson, all of Kannapolis, Pauline Parker of Concord, Jerline Helms of North Ridgeville, OH; two brothers, Clarence and Martin Walters, both of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Teresa Stephens, Johnny Wagner and Mark Harrington; five great grandchildren; and a special fishing buddy, Norris Barringer, and two special four legged friends, AJ and Quale.

Reid Monroe Bost

BIRTH DATE: January 3, 1928
DEATH DATE: July 19, 2002

ROCKWELL, NC - Mr. Reid Monroe Bost, 74, of 5830 Highway 152 East, Rockwell, NC, went on his journey home to glory at 1:15 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Bill Cutshaw will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mr. Bost.
Mr. Bost was born January 3, 1928 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late John Washington Bost and Viola Mae Beck Bost. He formerly owned and operated Bost Swimming and Bost Drywall. He also owned a go-cart track and a restaurant.
Mr. Bost formerly served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of Holy Power Church in Rockwell, where he served as a deacon and elder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Bost is survived by his wife, Lucille Keller Bost, of fifty-five years and six months; two daughters, Deborah Bost Cutshaw and her husband, Bill, of Rockwell, Toyce Lucille Bost of the home; son, Jerry Reid Bost, and his wife, Tina, of Rockwell; three sisters, Nell Bost Moon and Grace Bost Sapp, both of Salisbury, and Mabel Rose Misenheimer of Faith; five grandchildren, Amanda Cutshaw Maske, Crystal Cutshaw Helms, Jessica Cutshaw, Bryan Bost and Aaron Bost; three great grandchildren, Cody Maske, Christin Maske, and McKayla Cutshaw.

Alan Keith Eubanks

BIRTH DATE: May 15, 1964
DEATH DATE: July 20, 2002

CONCORD, NC - Mr. Alan Keith Eubanks, 38, of 1108 Ridgewood Drive, Concord, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Evelyn Browning will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the residence.
Born May 15, 1964, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of Irene Barnes Eubanks Collins of the home and the late Baxter Neal Eubanks. He was employed as a painter with Junior Overcash Painting.
Survivors include his mother, Irene Eubanks Collins; step-father, John Collins of the home; two sisters, Tammie Morgan and her husband Ronnie of Locust, Amanda Rogers and her husband Brandon of Concord; a brother, Dennis Eubanks of the home; grandmother, Winnie McManus Eubanks of Kannapolis; three nieces, Lily Eubanks of China Grove, Jessica Morgan of Locust, and Makayla Rogers of Concord; two nephews, Nicholas Morgan of Locust, and Benjamin Rogers of Concord.

Alice Coble Collins Marlow

BIRTH DATE: May 17, 1924
DEATH DATE: July 21, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Alice Collins Marlow, 78, of 337 Vance Street, Kannapolis, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 PM Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. Burial will follow at the VA National Cemetery on Government Road in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence.
Mrs. Marlow was born May 17, 1924 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Daniel Coble and Nita Martin Coble. She retired several years ago from the sewing room of Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis. She was a member of Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Wilbert Marvin Collins and Charles Marlow.
Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Livengood of Ruffin, SC, Mary Ann Goad of Crest Hill, IL; a son, Paul Daniel Collins of Kannapolis; three sisters, Peggy Frady of Gastonia, Barbara Burr of Florence, SC, Betty Thomas of Rockingham; two brothers, D. A. Coble and Jerry Coble, both of Rockingham; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Virginia Turner Seaford

BIRTH DATE: August 30, 1914
DEATH DATE: July 21, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Virginia Turner Seaford, 87, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle, NC.
Graveside services for Mrs. Seaford will be conducted Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at 10:00 AM at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Chris Hawks will officiate.
The family will visit with friends at the graveside on Tuesday.
Mrs. Seaford was born August 30, 1914 in Anson County, NC. She was a daughter of the late, Wilson Burns Turner and Pearl Burris Turner.
Mrs. Seaford is survived by a brother, Dr. Rufus B. Turner, of Buies Creek, NC.

Lucy Perry Shull

BIRTH DATE: April 23, 1918
DEATH DATE: August 2, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Lucy Perry Shull, 84, of 200 Elwood Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, August 2, 2002, at Avante at Concord.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Sunday, August 4, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Tom Cabaniss will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born April 23, 1918, in Union County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas W. Perry and the late Gertrude Helms Perry. Mrs. Shull was a graduate of J. W. Cannon High School and attended Wingate College. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Lucy's Angels Sunday School class for many years. Her husband, Ralph Shull, preceded her in death in March 1993.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Fisher of Kannapolis; four sisters, Johnie Nestlehutt of Kannapolis, Margie Pusser of Cheraw, SC, Mable Barringer of Concord, Martha Nesbitt of Marion; one brother, Joe Berry of Reidsville; two grandchildren, G. Bruce Fisher and his wife Kim of Kannapolis, Lucinda F. Rapp and her husband Don of Tega Cay, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Taylor Rapp and Cameron Kajohn.

Fred Morris Watts

BIRTH DATE: January 21, 1906
DEATH DATE: August 2, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Fred Morris Watts, 96, of 1917 Glenwood Street, Kannapolis, NC, died Friday, August 2, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, August 4, 2002, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Jernigan will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
Mr. Watts was born January 21, 1906 in Alexander County, NC. He was a son of the late John M. Watts and Amanda Elnora Herman Watts. He was employed at Cannon Mills in the Packing Department for 45 years until his retirement in 1972. He moved to Kannapolis in 1927. He married Lois Brookshire on June 30, 1928. He was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church and Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Watts attended James D. Vaughn School of Music in Lawrenceburg, TN in 1927 and 1930. Mr. Watts was active in First Baptist Church aand sang with the Kannapolis Quartet regularly at revivals, church services, funerals, and singing conventions. He also taught singing schools and directed music in more than 100 revivals in Iredell, Alexander, Rowan and Cabarrus counties. He was a director of music at Shadybrook, North Kannapolis, Franklin Heights, and Blackwelder Park Baptist Churches from 1947 to 1977. He was an avid gardener and was well-known for his delicious tomatoes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Bill, Herman, and Ned Watts, and four sisters, Ada McLeod, Daphne Mooney, Blanche Johnson, and Beatrice Bebber.
Mr. Watts is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lois Brook Watts; daughter, Shirley Marie Watts of Nashville, TN and Kannapolis; sister, Thelma Deal of Taylorsville, NC; sister-in-law, Hazel Bebber Watts of Kannapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

Annette Clark Mumford

BIRTH DATE: September 24, 1922
DEATH DATE: August 3, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Annette Clark Mumford, 79, of 1418 Wildwood Drive, Kannapolis, died Saturday, August 3, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center.
She was born September 24, 1922 in Portsmouth, England. She was a daughter of the late James Clark and Ellen Mary Wane Clark. She was a retired registered nurse. She moved to this area 14 months ago from Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Mumford. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Mrs. Mumford is survived by a daughter, Nancy Hinson and her husband, Hugh, of Concord; two sons, Steven Mumford of Kannapolis, Wayne Mumford of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Kenneth Hinson of Kannapolis, Christianne Cox of Kissimmee, FL, David Hinson of Concord, Andrew Mumford of Sylvania, OH; two great grandchildren, Desmond and Sarah Cox, both of Kissimmee, FL.

Eva Reynolds Gatton

BIRTH DATE: June 7, 1912
DEATH DATE: August 3, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Eva Reynolds Gatton, 90, a resident of Charlotte Healthcare in Charlotte, and formerly of Field Avenue in Kannapolis, died Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Charlotte Healthcare.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Monday, August 5, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ralph Adams will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 PM Monday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born June 7, 1912, in Richmond County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Claude C. Reynolds and the late Henrietta Rainwater Reynolds. Mrs. Gatton retired several years ago, after 44 years of service, from the sewing room of Cannon Mills, Plant One.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bailey S. Gatton; a daughter, Iris Gatton Morgan; and a son, Richard Gatton.
Survivors include a brother, William T. "Bill" Reynolds of Kannapolis; three granddaughters, Bobbye Casper of Atlanta, GA, JoLynn Morgan of Concord, Rebecca Denton of Raleigh; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Jack William McCommons

BIRTH DATE: April 29, 1979
DEATH DATE: August 6, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. Jack William McCommons, 23, of 705 Tennessee Street, Kannapolis, NC, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. McCommons was born April 29, 1979 in Greensboro, NC. He was a son of William Samuel McCommons and Deanne Harris McCommons, both of Kannapolis. He was a member of the National Honor Society. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Harris and William McCommons.
Mr. McCommons, in addition to his parents, is survived by two grandmothers, Mrs. Jeanette Sills McCommons of Kannapolis and Mrs. Joan Bergman of Greensboro, NC; aunt, Elizabeth Meadows, and a cousin, Stewart Meadows, both of Kannapolis; uncle, David Harris, and a cousin, Nicole Harris, both of Greensboro, NC; and his beloved cat, Marley.
