OAKBORO -- Mrs. Violet Belle Little Yow, 85, died Sunday, May 27, 2001. Funeral 4pm Wednesday, Hartsell Chapel, Midland, NC; burial Love's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Stanfield. Visitation Tuesday 7-9pm at funeral home.

Jetton, Ms. Ellen Savon

Ms. Ellen Savon Jetton, 69, of Britthaven Nursing Home, died Saturday, May 26, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. She was born in Mecklenburg County on January 17, 1932, daughter of the late Thomas Jetton and the late Nellie Phifer Jetton. She was a domestic worker and a member of New Friendship Presbyterian Church and Usher Board.

Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001 at New Friendship Presbyterian Church, Huntersville, NC, Rev. Linda M. Smith officiating. Burial will be the the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm at the church on Thursday prior to the service.

She is survived by her daughter, Ms. Sharon Jetton of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Mrs. Mary Reid of Huntersville, Mrs. Cornelia Wilson of Charlotte, Mrs. Charlotte Moore of Huntersville and Mrs. Sarah Caldwell of Charlotte; brother, Mr. Eldridge Jetton of Huntersville; 1 grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Grace Kelly Bennett

MONROE -- Mrs. Grace Kelly Bennett was born on June 22, 1927 in High Point, N.C. to John Booth and Dovie Covington Kelly. Her family later moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. where she attended school and graduated from James A. Gray High School. Prior to her marriage, she was secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Winston. After her marriage, she went to Chapel Hill with her husband and was secretary to the School of Public Health Nursing. Following her husband's graduation from UNC she moved to Monroe, N.C. where she was secretary to the President of American Bank and Trust Company, and the President of United Carolina Bank following its merger with American Bank and Trust Company. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe for more than 50 years, and was recently awarded a lifetime membership in the Presbyterian Women.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe with Rev. Dr. Chuck Williamson officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Mausoleum.

Survivors include her husband, Aroas Eugene Bennett Jr. of the home; two daughters, Claire Bennett McKissick of Kingsport, TN and Grace Lynn Bennett of Matthews, N.C.; five grandchildren, Lisa N. Bennett, Kimberly D. Bennett, Cameron E. Bennett, Brennan B. McKissick, and MaryGrace K. McKissick; one brother, Robert Booth Kelly of Blythewoods, S.C.; a step brother, B.J. Adams of Burlington, N.C.; and a step sister, Mrs. Dixie A. Holt of Winston-Salem, N.C. She was predeceased by her son, Clay Eugene Bennett in December of 2000.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building FUnd, 302 East Windsor Street, Monroe, N.C. 28112. The family will receive friends at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe beginning at 7:30 on Wednesday evening.

Griffin, Frances M.

Mrs. Frances M. Griffin, 88, of Hunterwood Nursing Home, died May 26, 2001. The funeral will be 1 p.m. May 30, 2001 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, Dr. Carver Rd., Charlotte, with the Rev. Glen Gerald III officiating. Burial will be in Bethel AME Zion Church in Catawba, SC. Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m. May 30, 2001 at Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Born December 2, 1912 in Catawba, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Channie Walker. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church for over 55 years. She was a virtuous woman and a mother to those she met. She was a great intercessor, praying on behalf of others. She loved working in her flower garden and fishing. She was a homemaker.

Survivors are sons, Eddie L. Griffin (Nellie), William Taft Griffin both of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Mamie Loretta Neely, of Catawba, SC, Tina Twitty of Boston, MA, Carrie Kennedy and Dorothy Kizzie (Henry) both of Charlotte, NC; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Grier funeral service is serving the family.

Sisk, James Luther

ASHEVILLE -- James Luther Sisk, Jr., 76, of 21-F Wesley Drive, died Monday, May 28, 2001 in a local hospital.

A native of Lanette, Alabama, Mr. Sisk was a son of the late James Luther Sisk, Sr. and Flora Clyde Warner Sisk and the husband of Nancy Elizabeth Dewey Sisk.

Mr. Sisk was a Navy veteran of World War II and worked as a finance manager for Commercial Credit for forty-four years. He was a member of Groce United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Sisk is survived by two sons, James Sisk and his wife, Amy and Wayne Sisk and his wife, Toni, all of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Tate Sisk, Amanda Sisk and Peyton Sisk; one sister, Betty Swain of Lake Junaluska; and two brothers, Robert Sisk of Asheville and Kenneth Sisk of Badin Lake.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Groce United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. and Rev. Ed McKinney officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haw Creek Lions Club, P.O. Box 9482, Asheville, NC 28815, or the Groce United Methodist Church Building FUnd, 954 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.

Harris, Louise Zedaker

Mrs. Louise Zedaker Harris, 83, of Ft. Mill, SC, died Sunday, May 27, 2001 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster, SC. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at McEwen funeral service, Pineville Chapel with the Rev. Jeannie Bickett of Unity Presbyterian Church in Ft. Mill officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood City Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be this evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harris was born September 15, 1917 in Charlotte, the daughter of John Kirk and Jessie Cochrane Zedaker. She was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church. Louise attended Charlotte schools' followed by nurse's training in Richmond, VA. She was employed in Charlotte as an office nurse for the late Leon T. Kennedy for thirty years.

Mrs. Harris is survived by daughters, Patricia Harris Cashion and her husband, Steve of Ft. Mill, SC, Martha Harris Cooper of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, John Paul Cashion of Atlanta, GA, Christine Cashion Johnson and her husband, John of Nashville, TN; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Danielle Johnson; sisters-in-law, Doris M. Zedaker of Fernandina Beach, FL, Margaret Zedaker of Dillion, SC; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to: Unity Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1267, Ft. Mill, SC 29716.

Braun, Heinz Hermann

Mr. Heinz Hermann Braun, 79, of Charlotte, died Monday, May 28, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. He was born December 17, 1921 in Karlsruhe, Germany, son of Wilhelm and Maria Bayer Braun. Mr. Braun was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Charlotte. He was a World War II veteran. In 1953, Heinz brought his family to America and began a career at IBM. He retired from IBM after 35 years of service.

Over the years, Mr. Braun was a volunteer with the Red Cross and was active on the National Ski Patrol. Since his retirement, he has taught computer classes at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Center.

Heinz is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hanni Braun of Charlotte; daughter Heidi Przybylowicz and husband, Bill of Montana; son Harry and wife Amy, son Hanns and wife Mary, all of Charlotte; son Heinz and wife Patricia of Arkansas; five granddaughters, four grandsons, and two great-grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at Advent Lutheran Church, 8840 University City Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28213, with the Reverend Richard Little and Reverend Nancy Kraft officiating. Friends are invited to attend a meal following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of Advent Lutheran Church.

Potter, Louise Pressley Meeler

MCADENVILLE -- Louise Pressley Meeler Potter, age 62 of 206 Hickory Grove Road, died Sunday, May 27, 2001 at home. A native of Gaston County, she was daughter of Grace Pressley of Gastonia and the late Durward Pressley. She was retired from the textile industry having worked for Pharr Yarn, and was a member of One Accord Independent Church.

Aside from her mother, Grace Pressley, she is survived by her husband, Maynard Potter; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Danny Anderson and Kay and Keith Walker, all of Gastonia, and Roxanne Meeler of McAdenville; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Kathy Meeler and Toby and Merrie Meeler, all of Gastonia; step daughters and husbands, Linda and Billy Owens of Clover, SC, and Penny Renee and Robert Burchfield of Gastonia; sister, Christine Breedlove of Gastonia; brothers, Robert `Leo` Pressley of McAdenville, Donald Pressley of Gastonia, and Eugene Pressley of Lowell; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother Harold Pressley.

funeral service will be at 2pm Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at Carothers Funeral Home in Mt. Holly with Rev. Keith Walker, Rev. Norman Greene and Rev. Author Beck officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. Visitation will be from 7-9pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Pressley, Rev. Author Beck, Terry Breedlove, Mark Breedlove, Dennis Breedlove and Eric Massey.

Leimkuhler, Martin

KINGSPORT -- Martin Leimkuhler, 72, of Kingsport passed away Saturday, May 26, 2001 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Charlotte, NC he was a son of the late M.J. and Helen Bettis Leimkuhler. He was a 1946 graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, NC and a graduate of Tennessee Weslyan University and East Tennessee State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from Eastman Kodak. He was a member of American Legion Hammond Post #3. He was an avid salt water fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Henry Leimkuhler. Surviving are two sons, Marty Leimkuhler and Brent Leimkuhler both of Kingsport; a sister, Gloria Roddey, Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Hayden Leimkuhler, Olivia Leimkuhler both of Kingsport, several nieces and nephews. Calling hour are 11:30-1:00 p.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Robert L. Wilcox, President Emeritus of the United Methodist Church and a relative of the deceased officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kingsport Animal Shelter or Holston United Methodist Home for Children, PO Box 188, Greeneville, TN 27744 East Lawn Funeral Home is serving the Leimkuhler family.

McNeil, George Wendell

George Wendell McNeil, 59, fo Charlotte left this world peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday morning May 26th due to cancer at Presbyterian Hospice Unit.

Born October 2, 1941 in Pineville Mississippi he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Ina B. McNeil.

Dr. Jerry Witt will hold a Memorial Service in his honor on Tuesday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Southpark Christian Church Park Road, where the McNeil family has been members since 1979.

Mr. McNeil was a graduate of USM, and employed with Agft for 30 years. George will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Besides his parents, Mr. McNeil was predeceased by a brother Henry Lloyd McNeil.

Mr. McNeil is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Lois; daughter, Darlene Miranda and her husband Johnny and their son, Joshua; son, Rodney McNeil and his children, Zachary and Miranda all of Charlotte; brothers, Don and Ricky McNeil; and sister, Linda Ann McNeil.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Harris Hospice c/o Presbyterian Hospital Foundation, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.

Carolina Funeral & Cremation Center is entrusted with the arrangements.

Raichle, Kurt R.

Kurt R. Raichle, of Matthews, died early Sunday morning at Carrington Place. He was 83. A native of Germany, Mr. Raichle was a retired industrial supply manager. He was an army veteran of WWII.

Local survivors include a special friend, Mary Myers of Matthews.

Chambers, Lindsey

ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Lindsey Chambers, 74, of 72 Reynolds Street, died May 28, 2001 at Piedmont Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at this time, and will be announced by Parker Funeral Home of Rock Hill.

Chavis, Edna Pauline Hayes

BENNETTSVILLE -- Mrs. Edna Pauline Hayes Chavis, 79, died Sunday, May 27, 2001. Funeral 2pm Tuesday, Church of God; burial at Rogers Cemetery, McColl, SC. Whitner-Evans Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Malcolm, George Lee

MOORESVILLE -- George Lee Malcolm, 68, of Whitman Circle, died Sunday, May 27, 2001 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville. Born on January 29, 1933 in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Epsy and Annie Meadows Malcolm. Mr. Malcolm was a retired employee of Burlington Industries, Mooresville, having 45 years of service. He was a member of Whitman Park Baptist Church, Mooresville. Mr. Malcolm was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Howard Malcolm.

He is survived by a step-daughter, Johnnie Shoemaker; sisters, Katherine M. Wensil of Mooresville, and Louise M. Everhardt of Concord; two step-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel, Mooresville, with Rev. Allen Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. Family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.

Kirby, Sandra Kay Ledford

MT. HOLLY -- Sandra Kay Ledford Kirby, 47, of 1824 Charles R. Jonas Raper Hwy., died May 29, 2001 at her home.

funeral service is 11 AM Thursday at Carothers Funeral Home in Mt. Holly, with Dr. Dennis McKnight and Dr. Robert M. Winecoff officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM tonight, May 30, at Carothers Funeral Home in Mt. Holly.

A native of Copperhill, TN, Sandra was a daughter of the late Willis Ledford and Betty Self Ledford of Dallas. She was retired from the food service industry, and attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Moffitt Kirby; and one brother, Willis Ledford, Jr. of Shelby.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 S. Main Street, Mt. Holly, NC 28120, or to Hospice of Gaston County, 260 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
