Eunice Kluttz Walter
ROCKWELL — The funeral will be Friday for Eunice Kluttz Walter, 82, 6248 Irish Potato Road, who died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 1999) at her home.
Born Sept. 14, 1916, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Walter was a daughter of the late Paul William and Lizzie Rose Rinehardt Kluttz. Educated in the Cabarrus County schools, she was a homemaker and a member of Mount Mitchell United Methodist Church.
A son, Kenneth Walter, died in 1943.
Survivors include husband York Walter; sons Spencer “Sam” Walter and David “Pete” Walter, both of Kannapolis, Bill Walter, Mount Pleasant, and Harold Walter, Rockwell; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Friday, Mount Mitchell United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ray Guy and the Rev. David Duncan. Burial, church cemetery.

Joseph ‘J.C.’ Cline Jr.
MOORESVILLE — Joseph Coskie “J.C.” Cline Jr., 73, Linwood Road, died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 1999) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Born June 12, 1926, in Mooresville, Mr. Cline was a son of the late Joseph Coskie “Cos” and Mary Moose Cline. Retired from Templon-Chempsun, he was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
A daughter, Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Cline, preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Mary Byers Cline, whom he married Aug. 5, 1944; son Joseph C. Cline III, Mooresville; daughter Sandy C. Kennedy, Statesville; and sisters Christine C. Moss, Mooresville, and Betty C. Mills, Orlando, Fla.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Southside Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. D. Steven Couge and the Rev. Hal Greene. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Pearl Honeycutt Hedrick
HIGH POINT — Pearl Honeycutt Hedrick, 82, Genesis ElderCare of Salisbury, formerly of 628 E. Lexington Ave., died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born March 29, 1917, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Hedrick was the daughter of the late George D. and Florence Drye Hedrick. Retired from Adams Millis Hosiery Mill, she was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Her husband, John Robert Hedrick, died Dec. 14, 1977.
Survivors include sons Darius N. Hedrick, Gold Hill, and Robert L. Hedrick, High Point; brother Troy Honeycutt, Adelphi, Md.; and four grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel, conducted by Dr. Garland Young and the Rev. Billy Ervin. Burial, Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

Lois Thompson Shelby
Lois Corrine Thompson Shelby, 91, Salisbury, died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at Autumn Care of Salisbury after several years of declining health and a month of serious illness.
Born May 20, 1908, in Haywood County, Mrs. Shelby was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Mittie Roberts Thompson. Educated in the Kankakee, Ill., schools, she and her late husband, Sam Parris Shelby, owned and operated Shelby’s Grocery for 48 years. She was a member of Trading Ford Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school for more than 20 years.
A daughter, Vivian Juanitta Williams, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include son Hubert P. Shelby, Salisbury; brother Clarence Warren Thompson, Mount Holly; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Saturday, Rowan Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Mike Motley, pastor, Trading Ford Baptist Church, and the Rev. Coy Miller.

Inez Smith Eagle
Inez Smith Eagle, 86, Salisbury, died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.
Born Aug. 14, 1913, in Rowan County, Mrs. Eagle was a daughter of the late William and Louetta Miller Smith. A homemaker, she was educated at Granite Quarry High School and Salisbury Business College. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she had formerly taught Sunday school.
Her husband, the Rev. Eli F. Eagle, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Steve Eagle, Salisbury, Norman S. Eagle, Blueridge, Texas, and Tony Phillips Eagle, Catawba; daughter Susan Waters, Raleigh; stepsons Frank P. Eagle, Salisbury, Glenn Eagle, Durham, and Bobby C. Eagle, Garner; stepdaughters Rose Hoffman, Charlotte, Elva Swicegood, Salisbury, Dewette Trexler, Spencer, and Ruth Marshall, Clemmons; six grandchildren; 26 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 28 step-great-grandchildren.

Lawrence E. Paul
GOLD HILL - Lawrence E. Paul, 66, 2700 Gold Hill Road East, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born June 23, 1933, in Vanderburg County, Ind., Mr. Paul was a son of the late Cecilia Knapp and Frank A. Paul. He attended Annunciation Catholic Church in Albemarle.
A U.S. Army veteran of the 82nd Airborne, he was a retired cabinetmaker. He had also worked for the Charlotte Motorcycle Police and Moss Trucking.
Survivors include wife Carolyn Arey Paul; sons Larry Paul, Concord, and Frank Paul, Mount Pleasant; daughters Cecilia “C.C” Honeycutt, Mount Pleasant, and Patricia Paul, Concord; stepdaughters Tammy Maroukis, Charlotte, and Anita Huneycutt, Concord; sisters Lovada Schenk and Otillia Keller, both of Evansville, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.

Teanie Herring
Teanie Herring, 75, Lexington, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
She was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Davidson County.
Survivors include sons Guy Herring, Charlotte, and Dana Herring, Chicago; sister Louise Berrier, Lexington; and brothers Bo Stafford, Lexington, and Albert Stafford, Asheboro.

James L. ‘Sonny’ Wilson
NORWOOD - James L. “Sonny” Wilson, 59, 12916 Cottonville Road, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Born Sept. 15, 1939, in Stanly County, Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Rosebud Brock and Eddie Wilson. He attended Anson Techical Institute and was a textile maintenance supervisor with Cookson Fibers, Ansonville. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Wilson was a member of Porter Methodist Church and attended South Stanly Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters Theresa Blayton, Penny Wilson and Paula Bailey, all of Norwood, and Lisa Loflin, Denton; brothers Jack Wilson, Charlotte, and Roger Wilson, Norwood; sister Yvonne Pinion, Norwood; and seven grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, South Stanly Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Mowery and the Rev. Jim Faggart. Burial, Simpson Cemetery, Albemarle, with military rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Chapter.

Junior Lee Stirewalt
Junior Lee Stirewalt, 76, Salisbury, died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at his residence.
Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Rowan County, Mr. Stirewalt was a son of the late Lola Belle Eller and George Lee Stirewalt. He was educated at Fisher, Cresent, Faith and Parks schools. He was a farmer.
He is survived by a sister, Mildred Ruth Stirewalt, Salisbury.
Services: 3 p.m. Monday, Powles Funeral Home Chapel, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. Fred Hill, pastor of Yadkin United Methodist Church, Spencer. Burial, Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.

William Clifford Atkins
YONKERS, N.Y. - William Clifford Atkins, 55, 2 Sadore Lane, died Saturday (Aug. 21, 1999) at his place of business after a massive heart attack. He was a former resident of Rowan County.
Born Nov. 28, 1943, in Fulton County, Ga., Mr. Atkins was a son of the late Elizabeth and Leonard Atkins. He attended Dunbar High School in East Spencer and New York Community College. He was self-employed with Atkins Travel Agencies.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Atkins Jr.
Survivors include wife Harriet Bush Atkins; daughter Sondre Atkins, New York City; brother Curtis Atkins, New York City; sisters Clara Atkins Dumas, Granite Quarry, and Elizabeth Atkins William, Arlington, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Services: Held Friday at 3 p.m. , Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury, conducted by M. B. Wood and Robert Reese. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.
