SALISBURY -- Donald `Don' Lewis Corry, 46, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001. Funeral is 12 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc., Salisbury. Visitation is 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Grier, Robert Ralph
Mr. Robert Ralph Grier, Jr., 74, of Charlotte, died Friday, May 4, 2001 at Mercy Hospital Main.
Mr. Grier was born July 1, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Robert Ralph Grier, Sr. and Nell Brown Grier. Mr. Grier was a life long member of Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. He was a dairy farmer, deacon at the church, and taught Sunday school. Mr. Grier was a member of Steele Creek Masonic Lodge #737, and past commander of American Legion Post #221. Mr. Grier was a World War II Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater with the United States Navy. He was a Volunteer Fireman at Steele Creek, served on the Mecklenburg County Drainage Commission, and also with the Mecklenburg County Civil Service Board. Mr. Grier was a Real Estate broker, and served on the committee of A.S.C.S.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be 11 am Monday, May 7, 2001 at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, officiated by The Reverend Jim Young. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Sunday, May 6, 2001 at McEwen funeral service Charlotte Chapel.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Edith Harper Grier; three sons, Ralph S. Grier, Robert E. Grier, and Roy T. Grier and his wife Debby; and two granddaughters, Katherine and Caroline Grier, all of Charlotte.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Acampora and Dr. Farahany, and the staff at Mercy Main and Avante.
Serving as Pallbearers are Scott Caudle, Joe Stuart, Jim Ackerman, Banks Choate, John McGlaughlin, and John Knox.

Tarleton, Gertrude Moore Baucom
MARSHVILLE -- Mrs. Gertrude Moore Baucom Tarleton, 88, of Marshville, died Friday, May 4, 2001 at her home. Born October 28, 1912 in Union County she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lee and Sarah Unetta Nance Moore. SHe was widowed by James Boyd Baucom in 1965 and John Belk Tarleton in 1987. Mrs. Tarleton was a retired registered nurse with Union Memorial Hospital, charter member to Euto Baptist Church, member of New Salem Home Extension Club, American Business Women's Association and Masonic order of the Amaranth Inc. -Carolina Court #10.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 7, 2001 at 11a.m. from the Euto Baptist Church by Rev. Tony Medlin. Burial will following the church cemetery.
Mrs. Tarleton is survived by a daughter, Millie B. Hildreth of Wingate; a sister, Doris M. lee of Polkton; three step-daughters, Nellie Drye of Marshville; Rachel Mullis of Monroe and Johnnie Bernabe of Mineral Springs; two granddaughters, Kristie R. Long of Marshville and Sara Jane Ray of Kannapolis; great granddaughter, Hannah M. Long of Marshville; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. M.E. Moore of Marshville and Mrs. Sue Moore of Florida; a number of Step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews; she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah M. Baucom, four sisters and four brothers.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Euto Baptist Church Building Fund, 6019 Hwy 205, Marshville, NC 28103 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Abby Brown, 208 Abby Lane, Vilas, NC 28692.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six to eight p.m. from the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe.

Rorie, Marie P.
MONROE -- Mrs. Marie P. Rorie, age 63 of Monroe, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2001 at Union Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Rorie was born April 24, 1938 in Chesterfield, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Boyte Parker.
Marie is survived by her loving husband, Archie Rorie of the home; one son, Randall Glenn Rorie and his wife Terri, of Monroe, NC; one daughter, Teresa Rorie Tyson and her fiance Fred Hight, both of Monroe, NC; her mother, Azilee B. Parker, of Monroe, NC; two sisters, Ann Price and Linda Jordan, both of Monroe, NC; one brother, Wade Jordan of Monroe, NC: three grandchildren, Ryan Tyson, Taryn Tyson, and Blaine Decker, all of Monroe, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Baptist Church to celebrate the life of Mrs. Marie Rorie, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Haskett officiating. Interment will take place following the service in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday night at McEwen Funeral Home. The family will be gathering at the home of Teresa Tyson, 2000 Old Towne Dr., here in Monroe if anyone would like to stop by.

Gunn, Michael Lee
MONROE -- Mr. Michael Lee Gunn, 35, died Sunday, April 22, 2001. Born October 4, 1965, in Lancaster County, he was a son of Rotha Lee Gunn and the late Dennis L. Gunn. He attended Parkwood High School, and he was employed with Mulvaney Homes in Charlotte. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 26, 2001, with burial in Lakeland Memorial Park.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Gunn is survived by his son, Dustin Gunn of Waxhaw; brothers, Jimmy Gunn of Mineral Springs, Mark Gunn of Marshville and Dennis Gunn of Pageland; and sisters, Sandra Burgess and Ellen Brown, both of Monroe. A brother, Marvin Gunn preceded him in death.

CONCORD -- Mr. James Roy Whitaker, 86, died Friday, may 4, 2001. Funeral is 2 p.m. Monday at Harmony United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home. He was the former co-owner of Whitaker's Tire Service.
Sanders, Wade P.
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL -- Dr. Wade P. Sanders, DVM, 81, died April 28, 2001, at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was born October 14, 1919, in Anderson, SC, the son of the late Julius P. and Ada Sanders. He was youngest of eight children.
Dr. Sanders was a graduate of NC State and Iowa State Universities. He served in the U.S. Army under Gen. George Patton during WWII in which he received a Battlefield Commission as a Major.
Dr. Sanders retired to Florida in 1984 after residing in Hinsdale, IL. He was a partner at Hinsdale Animal Hospital for 33 years. An avid member of the German shepherd Club of America, Dr. Sanders was recognized worldwide for his high quality show dogs for which he received many awards.
He is survived by Sara S. Sanders, sister-in-law, Charlotte, NC; Dewey Sanders, nephew, Charlotte, NC; Dr. James A. Sanders, nephew, Gastonia, NC; Gail S. Durgin, niece, Greensboro, NC; and Charlie Moore, Broward County, FL.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Association or the Humane Society.
National Cremation Society is entrusted with arrangements.
A private graveside memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Charlotte, NC.
Griffin, Dorothy Lynn Boush
Dorothy Lynn Boush Griffin, age 46, of Charlotte died at home Thursday evening, May 3, 2001 after a lingering illness.
Dottie was born April 5, 1955 in Roanoke, VA. She spent most of her life in Charlotte graduating from East Mecklenburg High School and Central Piedmont Community College with a Degree in Commercial Art-Advertising Design. Dottie's professional career included working in various areas of ad development prior to printing.
Dottie is survived by her husband Daryl of Charlotte; her parents, Jim and Dot Boush also of Charlotte; 3 brothers, Charlie Boush of Huntington, WVA: Derik and his wife Dorothy Boush of Cary, NC; and Chris and his wife Becky Boush of Charlotte; 1 sister, Laura B. Boush of Cary, NC: and Chris and his wife, Becky Boush of Charlotte; 1 sister, Laura B. Boitnott and her husband Wayne of Boones Mill, VA; 4 nephews, 4 nieces, and 2 great nephews.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, at ST. Gabriel Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Bellow Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. in the Church Chapel prior to Mass. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery, Anson Co.

Dillard, Mabel Stoney
Mrs. Mabel Stoney Dillard, died May 3, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Funeral will be at 12 noon Monday, May 7 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation is to be 11:30 a.m. to noon at the church. Alexander Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Dillard, a Charlotte native, was a long time teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and retired as assistant principal from Newell Elementary School. In addition, she was owner of Dillard Real Estate Company. She was a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University and the University of Illinois at Urbana.
Mrs. Dillard was a member of the Charlotte Chapter of the Moles, the Smart Set, the National Epicureans, the Pinochle Bugs, the Johnson C. Smith Class of 1948, Les Pierrettes, the Just US Bridge Club and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Dillard, several cousins, sisters-in-law and godchildren and many friends.

Mangum, Sara O.
Sara O. Mangum, 78, of Charlotte, died Friday, May 4, 2001 at White Oak Manor. She was born December 27, 1922 in Pageland, SC to the late Walter Burgess and Frances Tadlock Mangum.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7 at Carolina Funeral & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Road.
Mrs. Mangum is survived by son, Franklin Lemuel Hilton; daughter, Peggy Nance and husband Bobby all of Charlotte; granddaughters, Deborah Jo Berg and husband Ronald of St. Petersburg, FL, Donna Jean Craig of Charlotte, Robin Renee Ward and her husband of Saluda, NC; grandson, Donald Jo Craig, Jr. and wife Tracy of Huntersville; four great grandchildren; brothers, Morris and Wade Mangum and sister, English Derryberry.

CHESTER -- Mrs. Lula Bell Gore, of Bradley Street, died Friday, May 4, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held 4 pm Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at Sandy River Baptist Church with Reverend Earl Stringfellow officiating, assisted by Reverend Keith Taylor, Reverend Robert Lee McClurkin, and Reverend James Hope. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Gore was a native of Chester County, a daughter of the late Charlie Bell, Sr. and the late Lillian Gertrude Douglas Bell. She attended the public schools of Chester County and worked for Chester County Public Schools in the Culinary Department of Chester Senior High School. Mrs. Gore was a member of Sandy River Baptist Church where she sang on the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the A. P. & B Society. She was preceded in death by one brother, the late Mr. Charlie Bell, Jr.
Mrs. Gore is survived by her husband, Willie Gene Gore of the home; one daughter, Mary Jean (Michael Anthony, Sr.) Lide of Charlotte; mother-in-law Janie Gore of the home; father-in-law Sylvester Jackson of Buffalo, NY; five sisters, Elizabeth Bell and Arnell Young of Montclair, NJ, Arsonia (Arthur J.) Sanders, Magdalene (Reverend Charlie) Stringfellow of Chester, and Margaret (Jimmy) Worthy of East Orange, NJ; two grandchildren, Michael Anthony Lide, Jr. and Tierra Shaunese Lide of Charlotte; brothers-in-law, Johnson (Alberta) Gore and Dan (Ruby) Wilson of Chester, SC, and Sammie Murphy of Baltimore, MD; sisters-in-law Emma Bell of Chester, SC, Mattie McCullough of Mt.
