Warner, Julia Hart
Julia Hart Warner, loving and caring wife of Charles E. Warner, M.D., departed this life on Monday, April 30, 2001 due to pancreatic cancer. Born March 13, 1935, `Julie` was the second of six children born to Mary Johnson Hart, deceased, and J. Deryl Hart, M.D., deceased, of Durham, N.C. Julie attended public schools in Durham and graduated as co-valedictorian from Salem Academy in 1953. She attended Duke University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1957 with a degree in English.
Julie and Chuck were married in 1958 and have spent 42 loving and wonderful years together. Above all else in her life, Julie was devoted to her family. She considered motherhood a privilege and cared for each of her five children with warmth, love, fairness and a deep faith that they would do well. She trusted her children and considered their feeling paramount in every situation. She often commented that raising a family required `lots of waiting` but her `waiting` was rewarded amply as her children matured. At the time of her death, Julie had seven grandchildren, ages 5 and under, including two namesakes. She carried their images in her heart and their pictures in her pocketbook. Her fervent wish was to see them grow to maturity, which she will accomplish from her perspective in heaven.
Julie was a prolific letter-writer, and those who knew her will attest to her uncanny ability to pen an appropriate note for all occasions. She never let a birthday escape without a note of remembrance, and those in the throes of personal difficulties received encouraging notes from Julie to let them know she cared. Julie was also known for her marvelous ability to meet and remember people. She had a true interest in those about her and would invariably leave strangers with the warm and comfortable feeling that they had acquired a new friend.
Julie attended Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church for more than 30 years and served in various capacities including that of Deacon and Elder. She regularly attended circle meetings at the Church until her illness intervened. Everyone loved Julie and all will miss her warmth, sunny disposition and pleasant smile.
Julie leaves behind her husband, Charles E. Warner, M.D. of Charlotte; children, Charles Hamilton Warner, M.D. of Roanoke, Virginia, Deryl Hart Warner, M.D., wife Frieda and children, Hart, Eliza, and Jackson of St. Simon's Island, Georgia, Mary Louise Warner Gennett, husband Steve, and children Paul and Julia of Charlotte, Harrison Frederick Warner, M.D., wife Noelle and children, Julia and Anna of Shalimar, Florida, John William Warner, M.D. of Falls Church, Virginia, and John's financee, Courtney Eileen Hoben of Arlington, Virginia. Hart, M.D., of Tucson, Arizona, and William J. Hart of Lake Bluff, Illinois.
