Willie Lee Pepper
Willie Lee Pepper, 84, Salisbury, died Thursday (Aug. 19, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after one year of declining health and one day of serious illness.
Born Feb. 6, 1915, in Rowan County, Mr. Pepper was a son of the late Nannie Webb and W.W. Pepper. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was employed by Southern Railway for 18 years and later worked for Boren Brick. He was a former member of Union Lutheran Church.
His first wife, Fannie M. Overman Pepper, preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Nina Trexler Pepper, whom he married Feb. 19, 1949; sons Wesley Pepper, Spencer, Willie E. Pepper, Carolina Beach, and Melvin and Walter Pepper, both of Salisbury; daughters Mrs. Allan (Donna) Eddings, Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Rondall (Doris) Everhart and Mrs. Fred (Jo Ann)Propst, both of Salisbury, and Jill Pepper, of the home; a niece, Betty Parker, who was raised in the home; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Monday, Rowan Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Mike Motley, pastor, Trading Ford Baptist Church.
Visitation: 2-2: 45 p.m. Monday, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Daniel H. Hobbs
LEXINGTON - Daniel Harper Hobbs, 56, of Arvil Hunt Road, died Friday (Aug. 20, 1999) at Lexington Memorial Hospital after eight years of declining health and two weeks of critical illness.
Born March 14, 1943, in Davidson County, Mr. Hobbs was a son of the late Veigh Leonard and Julius Gray Hobbs. Mr. Hobbs was a former employee of Blue Ridge Transfer Co., Thomasville. He was a member of Rolling Heights Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Alberta Gillesbie Hobbs; sons Danny and Darrell Hobbs, both of Lexington; brother Gray Hobbs, Lexington; sisters Audrey Hege and Estelle Rummage, both of Lexington; and four grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Rolling Heights Faith Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Sechrest. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6: 30-8: 30 p.m. tonight, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Arvil Hunt Road.
Myrtle Seamon
MOUNT ULLA - Myrtle Fesperman Seamon, 81, of Triplett Road, died Friday (Aug. 20, 1999) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville.
Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Mount Gilead, she was a daughter of the late Edna Allen and Thomas Fesperman. Retired as a seamstress with Troutman Industries in Mooresville, Mrs. Seamon was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include husband Bryce Seamon, whom she married May 11, 1940; sons Terry Seamon, Mount Ulla, and John Seamon, Statesville; daughter Phyllis Seamon, Mint Hill; brother Avis Fesperman, Mount Gilead; sisters Mary Helms and Doris Loflin, both of Rockwell; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 6: 30-8 p.m. tonight, Cavin Funeral Home, Mooresville.
Coy J. Byrd Jeffrey Lynn Chapman
KANNAPOLIS - Coy J. Byrd, 74, and his stepson Jeffrey Lynn Chapman, 42, both of 1225 Dial St., died Thursday (Aug. 19, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle, as a result of an automobile accident in Locust.
The family will at the home of J.W. and Donna Beaver, 3113 Simmons St., Kannapolis.

Rhuben Henry Murray
LOCUST — Rhuben Henry Murray, 81, 112 Renee Ford Road, died Saturday (Aug. 21, 1999)at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
Born May 27, 1918, in Stanly County, Mr. Murray was a son of the late Minnie Lambert and Qussie Gold Murray. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a textile worker. Mr. Murray was a member of First Baptist Church, Locust.
Survivors include wife Arline Morgan Murray; sons Ron Murray, Concord, and Don Murray, Salisbury; brothers Dewell E. Murray, Oakboro, Grady Murray, Albemarle, and Clyde Murray, Athens, Ga.; sisters Odessa Treece, Oakboro, and Bessie Mae Honeycutt, Beaufort; and four grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Midland, conducted by the Rev. Kinney Wallace. Burial, First Baptist Church Cemetery, Stanfield; military rites by Chapter 12 DAV, Albemarle.
Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Monday, Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Gary Eugene Dunnmon
KANNAPOLIS — Gary Eugene Dunnmon, 66, 8687 Cloverfield Drive, died Friday (Aug. 20, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Nov. 13, 1932, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Dunnmon was a son of the late Minnie Talbert and Moses Preston Dunnmon. Mr. Dunnmon retired from the U.S. Army after serving as a master sergeant in the Vietname War, and was a member of the 5th Special Forces Group Green Berets.
Survivors include wife Kathern Dunnmon; daughters Susan D. Hillis, Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Greene, Wake Forest; son Preston Dunnmon, Cincinatti, Ohio; sisters Elizabeth Mabry, China Grove, and Vera Morrison Fairfax, Virginia; brother T.P. Dunnmon, Concord; and 11 grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Sunday, Oakwood Cemetery, conducted by Chaplain Ira Dayvault of DAV Chapter 27.
Visitation: After the service at 2870 Walter Drive, in Concord.

William Roberts McClure
MOORESVILLE — William Roberts McClure, 67, 16980 Mooresville Road, died Friday (Aug. 20, 1999) at his home.
Born March 14, 1932, in Haywood County, he was a son of the late Eva Gilliand and C.L. McClure. He retired from Burlington Mills with 27 years of service.
Survivors include wife Mary Lea Bowles McClure; sons William R. McClure Jr. and Kenneth L. McClure, both of Mooresville; daughters Rebecca Ann McClure, Mary Louise Lothery, and Betty Mae Upright, all of Mooresville, and Katie Lou Backer, Statesville; sister Louise Brown, China Grove; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Fern Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jesse Stroud and the Rev. Wayne Watson. Burial, church cemetery.

William Earl Cranford
ALBEMARLE — William Earl Cranford, 77, 146 Linwood Drive died Saturday (Aug. 21, 1999) at his home.
Born May 13, 1922, in Stanly County, he was son of the late Charlie and Mollie Moore Cranford. A retired security guard, he was last employed by Collins & Aikman. Mr. Cranford was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and belonged to First Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Bodo Cranford.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, First Street United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. J. David Colson, pastor. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park; military rites by Stanly County DAV.

Coy J. Byrd
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Monday for Dr. Coy J. Byrd, 74, 1225 Dial St., who died Thursday (Aug. 19, 1999) from injuries in an automobile accident near Locust.
A stepson, Jeffrey Lynn Chapman, died in the same accident.
Born Dec. 29, 1924, in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Robert Byrd and Katie Byrd Barker.
He was a doctor of Naturopath for many years. He attended International University and Western University in San Diego. He belonged to the National Association of Physical Therapists and the American Counselors Society. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart during World War II.
Survivors include wife Phyllis Cannon Chapman Byrd; daughter Louise Woodard, Harrisburg; brother Ray Byrd, Lumberton; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Donald McManus. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Zenna Deadmon
LANDIS — Zenna Faye Bare Deadmon, 80, Landis, died at her residence Saturday (Aug. 21, 1999) after declining health of several years.
Born March 9, 1919, in Ashe County, she was daughter of the late Jesse and Elizabeth Baker Bare. Mrs. Deadmon graduated from Landis High School and worked as a winder for a textile company. She was a member of Christian Fellowship.
Her husband, Banks A. Deadmon, died Sept. 17, 1994.
Survivors include daughters Cindi Tarlton and Libby Wilhelm, both of Landis; sister Rheba Bare, Landis; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Colonial Chapel, Linn-Honecutt Funeral Home, Landis, conducted by the Rev. Tim Newton. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park.
