CHESTER - Mr. Thomas Charlie McNinch, 76, of 1917 New Hope Church Road, Chester, SC died Monday, August 7, 2000 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at Barron Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Chris Snelgrove officiating. Interment will be in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. McNinch was born in Chester, SC, May 1, 1924, to the late William Charlie McNinch and Louise (Lipford) McNinch. He attended schools of Chester County; retired from Capco Paving, Rock Hill, SC; and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Idell Faile McNinch; 1 daughter, Elaine F. Furr of Rock Hill, SC; 1 son, Charles P. Ferguson of Montgomery, AL; 2 brothers, Ralph McNinch of Chester, SC and Roy McNinch of Charlotte, NC; 2 sisters, Ruth Wrenn and Jean Richardson, both of Rock Hill, SC; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

Lewis, William Legette
CHESTERFIELD - Mr. William Legette Lewis, age 71, died August 6, 2000. The funeral was held Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at 5:00 P.M. at Bay Springs Baptist Church, Chesterfield, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Lewis was born in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late James Issac and Pansy Aline Davidson Lewis. He was a retired Carpenter and a faithful member of Bay Springs Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and deacon. Mr. Lewis was an avid football and baseball fan, and loved gardening, running his rabbit dogs, and reading his Bible. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Tommy Lewis and Wilson Lewis.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Helen Johnson Lewis of the home; 5 sons: William Lewis, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, James Lewis of Gaffney, SC, Larry Lewis of Ruby, SC and Joel Lewis and Dennis Lewis of Chesterfield, SC; 3 daughters: Lucille Roscoe of Patrick, SC, Sandra Bennett and Annette McLeod of Chesterfield, SC; 1 brother: Bonnie Lewis of Ruby, SC; 4 sisters: Allie Mae Stafford, Martha Stafford, and Bobbie Jean Johnson all of Chesterfield, SC and Mary Lee Gulledge of Patrick, SC; also 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

CONCORD - Master Jonathan Michael Helms, 4, of Concord died Sunday, August 6, 2000 at Northeast Medical Center.
His funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at Heritage Funeral Home in Matthews. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 7-9 PM, Tuesday, August 8th at Heritage Funeral Home and Noon until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 9th.
Jonathan was born March 31, 1996 in Charlotte. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Anita Helms of Concord; his brother, Daniel Helms and his sister, Bethany Helms also of Concord; his paternal grandparents, Nell Helms of Charlotte and the late Jack Helms; his maternal grandmother, Brenda Parks and her husband, Ronald; and his maternal grandfather, James Brayboy.

DENVER - Mrs. Minnie Peck Cauble Bivens, 105, of 106 Mountain Vista Road, Denton, NC, formerly of Albemarle, NC died Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at Mountain Vista Health Park.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 10, 2000 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Sonny Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park. Mrs. Bivens was born June 27, 1895 in the Finger Community of Stanly County, NC, daughter of the late Mary Lou Moose Peck and James Addison Peck. She was married to the late John Marvin Cauble and Clyde Bivens. She was a member of Bethel Bear Creek United Church of Christ and enjoyed homemaking, gardening, canning, quilting and crafts.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ruth Cauble of New London, NC; daughter, Gladys P. Atohi of Arlington, VA; and also by nieces and nephews.

DENVER - Beatrice Whitaker Cape, 57, of 7981 Optimist Club Rd. died Aug. 6, 2000.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greene funeral service, Southside Chapel with Rev. Harold Holcombe and Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
Pallbearers will be Joe Berry, Aaron Holcombe, Joshua Holcombe, Mark Holcombe, Mark Hyde and David Wilson.
Mrs. Cape was born Jan. 19, 1943 in Cherokee County. She was formerly employed by Firestone Mill, Gastonia.
Survivors include her mother, Gaynell W. Holcombe of Gastonia; son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. Jr. and Maria Falls of Oldsmar, Fl; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and James Lucus Jr. of Mt. Holly; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Penny Holcombe of Bessemer City, , Edward and Anne Holcombe of Gastonia, and Harold and Cathey Holcombe of Old Fort; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Ann York, Judy and Rev. Ronnie Wilson of Gastonia; and grandchildren, Skyler N. Falls and Luke and Chelsie Lucus.
Walker, Ray Boyce
DENVER - Mr. Ray Boyce Walker, age 63, of 5083 Sallybrook Lane in Denver died Sunday, August 6, 2000 at Carolinas Medical Center.
His funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Denver United Methodist Church with Rev. James Pyatt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A nursery will be provided at the church during the funeral service.
Mr. Walker was born in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Neal and Bertha Mae Mitchum Walker. He was an automobile salesman with Carter Chevrolet in Shelby for 33 years prior to his retirement in April of 1999. Mr. Walker was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors are his wife Fran of the home; one son, Neal Ray Walker and daughter-in-law, Beth Walker of Shelby; one daughter, Anita Walker Sain and son-in-law, Brian Sain of Lincolnton; one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Polly Walker of Hendersonville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Bob Lambert of Tallahassee, Florida and Catherine and Donald Morrison of Rutherford Co., NC; four grandchildren, Hollyann and Lyda Walker of Shelby and Luke and Monica Sain of Lincolnton.

GASTONIA - Roy M. Craig, 67, of 2304 Pineview Lane, Gastonia, NC died Sunday, August 6, 2000 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Friday, August 6, 2000 beginning 10:00 AM, with Rev. Jim Dumond officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont.
Mr. Craig is a native of Wayne, MI, born March 21, 1933 to the late Samuel D. Sr. & Dora Squire Craig. He was a US Army veteran of Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service; and 16 years of service in the Federal Civil Service.
Survivors include his brother, Samuel Craig of Gastonia; sister, Evelyn Choroser of Vista, CA; and foster children, Daen & Ann Craig of Alameda, CA.

GASTONIA - Russell Shirley Neal, age 93, of Century Care Gastonia, Gastonia, NC died August 7, 2000 at Century Care on X Ray Drive, Gastonia, NC.
He was born May 28, 1907 in St. Louis, MO, son of John W. Neal and the late Susan Gibbons Neal, husband of the late Mary Katherine Bowman Neal. He was a High School graduate and a retired Automobile Mechanic.

Wilson, Thomas Johnston
LINCOLNTON - Mr. Thomas Johnston Wilson, Sr., 86, of 1200 General Hoke Drive, Lincolnton, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at Lincoln Nursing Center.
Mr. Wilson, a long-time Lincolnton attorney and former judge, was a native of Winston-Salem, the son of the late William T. and Alice Franklin Wilson. The late William T. Wilson was a former mayor of Winston-Salem.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Myers Wilson; his twin brother, Franklin Wilson of rocky Mount; and a brother, William T. Wilson, Jr. of Winston-Salem.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. `T.J.` Wilson Jr. and Roberta Borden Wilson, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lindsay Wilson and John Newton Wall, III of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Allison Stowe Wilson and Thomas J. Wilson, III, both of Belmont, Mary Hannah Borden Wilson, of the home, Merritt Myers Wall and John Newton Wall, III, both of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Nancy Brantley Wilson of Rocky Mount; a niece, Nancy Wilson Bowers of New Bern; and two nephews, Franklin Wilson, Jr. of Rocky Mount and William T. Wilson, III of Winston-Salem.
A graduate of West End School and Calvin Wiley in Winston-Salem, and Davidson College, Mr. Wilson received a juris doctorate from the University of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill in 1945. He practiced law in Lincolnton for 45 years until his retirement in 1995. He was instrumental in establishing Lincoln County's first law library. Along with his wife, he authored McIntosh North Carolina Practice and Procedure, which was published by West Publishing Co.
Mr. Wilson was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. Active in Boy Scouting and the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Wilson was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was involved with the youth, and the Kiwanis Club. He also was an avid yachtsman and gardener.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carrol Lindsey officiating.
