Mary Ellen Barrier Bustle
Mary Ellen Barrier Bustle, 89, of Jonas Ridge, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2004.
Ellen was the daughter of the late Lewis G. Barrier and Mary Reid Barrier of Jonas Ridge, and wife of the late Ernest O. Bustle. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Junie Singleton and Louise Mull; five brothers, Commodore, Ernest, Elmore, Forest and Edwin Barrier.
She is survived by a daughter, Georgia Bustle of Asheville, special nieces, Edna Woods and Thelma Givens. Each one of her nieces and nephews was a joy to her.
Ellen was a member of Pineola Baptist Church. She was very active along with her pastor husband in the work of Southern Baptist Churches throughout western North Carolina.
Services to celebrate the life of Ellen will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at Kirksey Memorial Chapel with Reverend Fred Holder presiding. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service beginning a 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in the Barrier Cemetery at Jonas Ridge.

Lorene Elizabeth Scott
Lorene Elizabeth Scott of Nebo, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2005, at her daughter’s residence.
Ms. Scott was born October 25, 1922 in McDowell County to the late, James Arthur Scott and Hannah Elizabeth Tate Scott. She worked at Drexel Heritage as a Sander and was a member of St. John’s A.M.E. Methodist Church where she was the church Secretary for several years. In addition to her parents, Ms. Scott was also preceded in death by three brothers.
She was survived by two sons, Paul Scott and Alvin Scott both of Nebo; two daughters, Edith Isbell of Nebo and Paula Hayes of Marion; one brother, Billy Scott of Nebo; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Scott; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Ms. Scott will be held at 3:00P.M. on day, April, 2005 at St. John’s A.M.E. Methodist Church with the Revs. LeRoy Miller & LeRoy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John’s A.M.E. Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Stanford Lowell Gotchy
Stanford Lowell Gotchy, age 77, of Marion, NC died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Aberdeen, Washington to the late Stanford Lowell Gotchy and Florence Ida Jane Graham Gotchy, he was a retired veteran with 33 years service in the military including the US Navy of WWII.
Committal services will be held 11:00 Saturday, April 9, 2005 in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home officiated by the Jesus Christ of. Latter Day Saints Church. military graveside rites will follow immediately in McDowell Memorial Park.

Mr. Allen Knox Jones
Mr. Allen Knox Jones, 68, of Marion, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 27, 2005, at The McDowell Hospital. Born September 18, 1936, in Sullivan County, TN, he was a son of the late William James Jones and Roda Emma Rosenbalum Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of the Temple Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and as Assistant Pianist.
Mr. Jones leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Helen Bryant Jones, of the home; Three sons, Greg Jones & wife Wanda, Alvin Jones & wife Carolyn, all of Marion and Garry Jones & wife Brenda, of North Cove; One sister, Patsy Dempsey, of Piney Flats, TN; Six grandchildren, Lance Corporal Corey Jones & wife Teresa, Chase Jones, Brian & Eric Jones, Brad & Chad Jones; And a step- great grandson, Dustin Eggers.
Funeral Services for Mr. Jones will be held 1:00PM, Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at the Temple Baptist Church with the Reverends Jason Southard and Gerald Stines officiating. Interment will follow at the McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM, Monday, August 29, 2005 at Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion.
Mary Buchanan Maney
Mary Buchanan Maney, age 55, of Morganton, N.C. died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at her residence.
Born in McDowell County to the late James Howard and Ettress Snipes Buchanan, she was an employee of McDowell Nursing Center, Nebo.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Maney of the home; two sons, James “Chip” Maney and Jeffery C. Maney both of Morganton, N.C.; one brother, Jerry Buchanan of Marion, N.C.; two sisters, Jean Harmon of Old Fort, N.C. and Patsy Barrett of Asheville, N.C.; six grandchildren.
Services will be held 11:00 o’clock, Thursday, September 4, 2003 in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion, with Rev. Marshall Dill officiating. Burial will follow in McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 at the funeral home.

Mamie Melissa Davis Chapman
Mamie Melissa Davis Chapman of Marion died May 14, 2004 at the Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain.
Born in McDowell County to the late Francis Davis and Eva Ann Morgan Davis, she was a charter member of the Cross Mill Church of God for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Kruger Decator Chapman; two sons, K.D. Chapman Jr. and Marion D. "Buddy" Chapman;
three daughters, Blanche Stacy, Dorothy Stacy and Mary Agnes Chapman; several brothers and sisters, Fleming, Cora, William, Lester, Benjamin, Clyde, Effie, May Sue, Marimon and Chester.
She is survived by one daughter, Erie Burnette of Marion; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 4 until 5 p.m. at Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion.
Mr. Clarence Edward Sigmon
Mr. Clarence Edward Sigmon, 65, of Old Fort, died, Monday, November 8, 2004, at his residence. Born October 5, 1939, in McDowell County, he was a son of the late James Eli Sigmon and Essie Harvey.
Surviving Mr. Sigmon are four sons, Alan Sigmon & wife, Angie, Tim Sigmon & wife, Lee Ann and Mark Sigmon, and James Sigmon & fiancé, Kylie Anderson, all of Marion; a daughter, Jackie Watkins & husband, Lloyd, of Marion; three brothers, David & Ray Sigmon, both of Marion and Bill Sigmon, of Old Fort; two sisters, Juanita Dixon, of Marion and Pat Woody, of Old Fort; also surviving are eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Sigmon will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, November 11, 2004, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Old Fort, with the Reverends Billy Forbes & David Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethlehem Community Cemetery, Old Fort.
The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM, Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Kirksey Funeral Home, Old Fort.
Mrs. Peggy McClafferty
Mrs. Peggy McClafferty, 77, of Marion, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 5, 2005, while at Memorial Mission Hospital. Born April 18, 1927, in GA, she was a daughter of the late Ervin Connor and Mattie Louise Stinchcomb Connor. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McClafferty was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl George McClafferty, two daughters, Debbie & Donnetta Armstrong, and a brother, J.W. Shelton. She attended the Unity Full Gospel Church.
Mrs. McClafferty leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Sheena McGinnis, of Marion and Rita Lovelace, of Clover, SC; Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McClafferty will be held 2:00PM, Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Unity Full Gospel Church with the Reverend Tommy Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Glenwood. Mr. Clayton Leroy Condry
Mr. Clayton Leroy Condry, age 87, of Autumn Care in Drexel and formally of Vero Beach, FL, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005. He was born to the late Harry F. and Helen Condry on January 12, 1918 in Platteville, Wisconsin. Clayton had been a member of the Masons for over 50 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alcorn Condry, and a sister, Dorothy Condry.
Surviving are a son, Harry F. Condry and his wife, Aleyda of Vero Beach, FL; a daughter, Mary Jo Pack and her husband, Don of Morganton; a brother, Dale Condry and his wife, Ardith of Anamosa, IW; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 3, 2005 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Rev. Marion Moore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow on Thursday at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL.
Miss Eleanor Roxanne Mull
Miss Eleanor Roxanne Mull, 84, of Hwy. 18 South, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Grace Hospital. She was born in Burke County, May 1, 1918 to the late Thomas Jarvis Mull and Sarah Shuping Mull.
She was retired from Morganton (Premier) Hosiery and a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Mull, Lloyd Mull. Colon (Bill) Mull, Vance Mull, Grover Mull and Forrest (Sam) Mull and a sister, Ethel Mull Tallent.
She is survived by her twin brother, Elmer “Joe” Mull and wife Ruth of Morganton; sister, Annie Mull Cline of Morganton; sister- in-law, Jessie G. Mull of Durham, NC, and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday March 25, 2003 at Burke Memorial Park with Reverend Earl Cross officiating. Interment will follow the service.
Memorials may be made to Brookwood Baptist Church, 210 Brookwood Road, Morganton, NC 28655 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mildred Mary Williams Smith
Mildred Mary Williams Smith was born September 21, 1928 in Rutherford County, NC. She passed peacefully in her sleep on August 30, 2003. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shepert Smith.
Left behind to cherish her loving memory are four daughters: Patricia G. Williams of Schenectady, NY; Elizabeth S. Whiteside (Larry) of Lake Lure, Virginia S. Woody (Ronald) of Marion, and Antoinette (Tonya) S. Staley (Robert) of Inman, SC; two sons, Rev. Michael S. Smith (Terri) and Perry L. Smith (Sandra) both of Marion; one step son, Robert Earl Smith (Dollieree) of Greensboro; and one step daughter, Mae Evelyn Conley of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, one great grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Services will be held at Mt. Moriah, where she was a member, on Wednesday, September 3,2 003 at 1:00 PM. The family will be at the church parsonage. The body will be placed in the chapel one hour prior to the service. Kirksey Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Clara Morgan Harris
Mrs. Clara Morgan Harris, 87, of Nebo, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the McDowell Nursing Center.
Born July 30, 1916 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Flemming Morgan and Elizabeth Mostiller Morgan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was also preceded in death by her first husband, Audie Lee Morgan and second husband, Ray Harris, and a brother, Floyd Morgan. She was a member of the Victory Christian Ministries and retired from Hunters Livermush.
Mrs. Harris is survived by a son, Roy Lee Morgan and wife, Brenda, of Nebo; four sisters, Ethel Black, Ester Lawing, Eva Shirlon and Gurthie Hunter, all of Marion; one brother, Gene Morgan of Rutherfordton. She is also survived by two special sisters-in-law, Thelma Morgan and Annie Marlowe; two grandsons, Kenneth Morgan and Bobby Morgan and wife, Jamie, all of Marion; and one great-granddaughter, Kara Morgan.
