Dellinger, Raymond Marcellus
Mr. Raymond Marcellus Dellinger, 86, of Davidson, NC died Friday, August 4, 2000 at his residence.
He was born March 8, 1914 in Lincoln County to the late Nasby Dellinger and Lola Harveston Dellinger. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, a teacher of the Bible Class and a former member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Mr. Dellinger was a retired carpenter and painter. He graduated from John Wesley College, formerly Peoples Bible College. He had a love for music and wrote many gospel songs which he published into a book.
Survivors include his wife, Mammie Woods Dellinger; sons, Wesley Dellinger of Inman, SC, Lynn Dellinger of Mt. Airy, NC; daughter, Lydia D. Damison of Holden Beach, NC; sister, Mrs. Ada Powell of Denver, NC; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, August 6, 2000 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Morris Little officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Raymer Funeral Home 7:00-8:30 Saturday.

Mrs. Geneva McVay, age 72 of 2020 Dogwood Avenue, Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, August 2, 2000 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2000 at St. Paul Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C. with Rev. Gregory Moss officiating. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 10:30 AM Saturday at the church.
Mrs. McVay is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Townsend (Johnnie) of San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Everta Townsend; sisters Lena Dowdle, Mary Ruth Blackmon, and Minnie Mae Davis.

Mr. Emmett Ramseur, age 71 of 3427 Denson Place, Charlotte, N.C. died Wednesday, August 2, 2000 at his residence.

Mr. Ramseur was born in Gastonia, N.C. He was a retired Civil Service employee for the U.S. Dept. of Government.
He is survived by his sons, John Ramseur of Hopkinsville, KY, Vincent Ramsey of Nashville, TN; daughter, Elaine John of Hopkinsville, KY; sisters Margaret Williams of Owings Mills, MD, Ruth Ramseur of Washington, DC, Victoria Bridges of Washington, DC and 3 grandsons.

Smith, Gale Rae
Mrs. Gale Rae Smith, 63, of Matthews died Thursday, August 3, 2000 at Carolinas Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 12 Noon on Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Smith was born August 22, 1936 in Binghamton, NY and was a retired deli clerk. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend who will be deeply missed.
Her survivors include her husband, Vern Smith of Matthews; her daughters, Cheryl Howell of Binghamton, NY, Elaine Howell of Seattle, WA, Melissa Smith of Binghamton, NY, Barbara Eisenhauer of Buffalo, NY; her son, Vern F. Smith of Binghamton, NY; and by 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Ste. 211, Charlotte, NC 28202.

Starnes, David Ray
David Ray Starnes, 43, of Charlotte died Friday, August 4 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born May 2, 1957 in Charlotte to Frank K. Starnes and the late Ola Mae Rice Starnes.
A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park on Monday, August 7 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Bruce Pope officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 6 from 7:30-9:00 PM at Carolina Funeral & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Road.
Mr. Starnes is survived by his father, Frank K. Starnes of Charlotte; brother, Franklin Wayne Starnes of Denver, NC; sisters, Debra K. Starnes of Charlotte, Shirley Starnes of Indian Trail and Barbara Stilwell of Matthews.

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Robert Lee Davie, of 2019 Grier Ave. in Charlotte, NC died Thursday, August 3, 2000 at Carolina Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 6, 2000 from the Chapel of Grier's Funeral Home. Burial will be at Gethsemane Baptist Church, Chester, SC.
Formerly of Chester, SC, Mr. Davie was the son of the late Willie Mae Bell Walker Davie and the late Charlie Davie. Being reared in a Christian home at an early age, he attended Gethsemane Baptist Church at an early age. He attended the public schools of Chester County. He worked at the Pepsi Cola plant as a Forklift Driver. He and Doretha H. Davie were united in marriage.
Surviving are his daughter, Jacqueline Davie of Charlotte, NC; six sons, Ronald Lindsay, Ricky Lindsay, Austin (Salomie) Davie, Robert (Mamie) Davie and Jarvus (Judy) Davie, all of Charlotte, NC, John Edward (Cheryl) Davie of New Jersey; one brother, Samuel Davie of Chester, SC; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and devoted friend, Helen Lindsay of Charlotte, NC.
Family will receive friends at the home of his son, Ricky Lindsay, 2019 Grier Ave, Charlotte, NC and his daughter, Jacqueline Davie, 1929 Finchley Drive, Charlotte, NC and his brother, Samuel Davie of 620 Omega Drive, Chester, SC.

COLUMBIA - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ella Mae Goodson Sams at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2000 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery (West) in Charlotte, North Carolina, at 3:30 p.m. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Sams died Wednesday, August 2, 2000, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lincolnton, NC on July 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Miles Martin Goodson and Bessie Beam Goodson. She was married
for 33 years to the late John William Sams Jr., and they had four children. She was a devoted mother and a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. She was retired from The National Bank of South Carolina.
Her son, John William Sams III, predeceased her. Surviving are daughters, Deanie Sams Tourville and son-in-law William E. Tourville of Columbia; Barbara Sams Lukat and son-in-law Rev. Ronald W. Lukat of Amelia, OH; and Jennifer Sams Schaaf of McLean, Va; daughter-in-law, Karen Richards Sams of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Suzanne Tourville Grafakos and husband, Loukas Grafakos of Columbia, MO; Julie Tourville Finelli and husband, Dominic L. Finelli of Columbia; Kenneth J. Lukat of Cincinnati, OH; Elizabeth Anne Lukat of Chattanooga, TN; Brian Christopher Schaaf and Gary Stephen Schaaf of McLean, VA; Lauren Marie Schaaf of Savannah, GA; John Thomas "J.T." Sams and Charles William Bivens of Savannah, GA; and great-grandson, Kristopher Aaron Reily Lukat of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Florine G. Herms and Billie Jean G. Williams of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Graham Goodson, Ray Goodson and Clyde Goodson, all of Charlotte, NC, and Fate Goodson of Raleigh, NC. Her sister, Louise G. Vitiello, Sherrie Smith
DENVER - Mrs. Sherrie Smith Vitiello, age 38, of 4694, Lakeshore Road in Denver died Thursday, August 3, 2000 at home.
Mrs. Vitiello was born on December 1, 1961 in California and worked for US Air as a flight attendant.
Survivors include husband, Edward Vitiello, of the home; one son, Dalton Vitiello; and one daughter, Katlyn Haley Vitiello, both of the home; parents, Wayne and Verna Reese Smith; one sister, Betty Danzey of Alabama; four nephews; and one niece.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Phillips, Imogene Husky
GASTONIA - Mrs. Imogene Husky Phillips, age 78, formerly of 905 Smyre Drive died Thursday, August 3, 2000 at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Salisbury.
She was born in Cocke Ct., Tenn., daughter of the late Hershel H. and Alice Jenkins Husky. She was the wife of the late Marvin D. Phillips attended Gospel Light Holiness Church in Ranlo.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Carolyn Wells of Cherryville; 2 sons, Bernard (Bo) Eller of Mt. Holly and Edwin Eller of Cherryville; 2 sisters, Maxine Leonard and Caloesa Chastine, both of Lowell; 1 brother, Hershel Husky of Lowell; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Phillips will be held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, August 6, 2000 in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly with Rev. Jerry Willard officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Saturday, August 5, 2000 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly.
