Elizabeth Williams
ALBEMARLE - Elizabeth Atkinson Williams, 83, 612 Azalea Drive, died Thursday (Aug. 5, 1999) at Asbury Care Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1915, in Charlotte, she was a daughter of the late Sarah Pipkin and Richard Hardy Atkinson. A graduate of Greensboro College, she had retired after teaching for 25 years in the fourth and fifth grades at Efird School in Albemarle, Winecoff School in Cabarrus County and Aycock School in Kannapolis. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Her husband, the Rev. N. Carson Williams Jr., served churches in Albemarle, Concord, China Grove, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Lincolnton, Marion, Wadesboro, Charlotte and Kannapolis, before preceding her in death.
Survivors include son Neil Williams, Charlotte; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Central United Methodist Church, Albemarle, conducted by the Rev. Benjamin F. Wilson and the Rev. Marti Halliburton. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: Noon-2 p.m. Sunday, 612 Azalea Drive. The body will remain at Hartsell Funeral Home, where friends are welcome to pay their respects.
Harold L. Brink
LEXINGTON - Harold Leland Brink, 68, Louya Road, died Friday (Aug. 6, 1999) at his residence.
Born Sept. 30, 1930, in Washington County, Ark., Mr. Brink was a son of the late Ruth Springston and James Eldon Brink. Retired from Western Electric in Winston-Salem, he was a life member of VFW Post 3074 and American Legion Post 8. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. A Mason, he was a member of Memorial Lodge 696.
His wife, Daphne Smith Brink, died March 10, 1996
Survivors include daughters Janet Brink and Kathryn Athey, both of Lexington, Barbara Bodenhamer, Trinity, and Mary Brink, of the home; sister Betty Lou Ward, Fayetteville, Ark.; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Davidson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John Hill. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Davidson Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Andrew Hill Kelly
KANNAPOLIS — Andrew Hill Kelly, 81, 509 Wilkinson St., Lot 10, died Friday (Aug. 6, 1999) at his home after a year of declining health.
Born June 12, 1918, in Newport, R.I., he was the son of the late John Clark and Elizabeth Hill Kelly.
Employed as a chef at various restaurants throughout his life, he later worked as a security guard. He lived in Kannapolis since moving from Homestead, Fla., in 1992. A member of Shadybrook Baptist Church, he was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
Survivors include wife Patricia Gwendolyn Shurian Kelly; and daughter Audrey Komes, Okeechobee, Fla.
Services: Memorial, 4 p.m. Monday, Shadybrook Baptist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by Richard Moore.

Richard Paul Kirkinburg
ALBEMARLE — The funeral will be Monday for Richard Paul Kirkinburg, 76, 1623 Arbor Way, who died Friday (Aug. 6, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Born Dec. 31, 1922, in Defiance County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Paul and Mable Swift Kirkinburg. A retired troubleshooter with Eastman Kodak Company, he was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He was involved with Habitat for Humanity, Optimist Club, Christ Church Outreach, OASIS Program, VFW, Bonsai Club, Meals on Wheels and Nutritional Meals. He was in the U.S. Army, serving in WWII in the 82 Airborne.
Survivors include wife Lorraine F. Kirkinburg; son Richard F. Kirkinburg, Rochester, N.Y.; daughter Terri Smith of Rochester, N.Y.; stepsons Larry Goessens and Phillip Lane, both of Colorado, Roy Lane and Brian Lane, both of Rochester, N.Y.; stepdaughter Margaret Volkmar, Rochester, N.Y.; sisters Nancy Leitner, Binghamton, N.Y., and Edith Case, Rochester, N.Y.; and 14 grandchildren.

Michael Eugene Lyerly
CHINA GROVE - Michael Eugene Lyerly, 52, 3620 N.C. 152 West, died Friday (Aug. 6, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Sept. 22, 1946, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of Wallace Grady Lyerly, China Grove, and the late Mary Grady Lyerly. Educated at A. L. Brown High School, Kannapolis, he retired as a welder due to disability.
Survivors in addition to his father, include brother Chris Lyerly, China Grove; and grandmother Kataleen Daniel, Kannapolis.
Services: Cremation with no memorial rights.

Elwood Sechler
CHINA GROVE — Elwood Sechler, 84, 2585 N.N. 153, died Saturday (Aug. 7, 1999) at his home.
Born Jan. 31, 1915, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Wedmore R. and Lillian Butler Sechler. Educated in Rowan County schools, he was a supervisor at Cannon Mills Plant 7 and a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife Katherine Connell Sechler; stepson Roger Dale Connell, Landis; daughter Nancy Jo Sechler Helms, China Grove; brothers Harold B. Sechler and Harry Lee Sechler, both of China Grove; sisters Mabel Osborne of China Grove, and Mary Sue Boyd of Mount Ulla; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Hazel McDaniel Stroud
The funeral will be Monday for Hazel McDaniel Stroud, 80, Elm Street, who died Friday (Aug. 6, 1999) at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem.
Born April 30, 1919, in Mooresville, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Annie Bell Beam McDaniel. A graduate of Mooresville High School, she was a retired beamer operator for Fiber Industries, Salisbury and a member of Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include son James Palmer, Vinton, Va.; daughter Ann Atwell, Woodleaf; half-sister Iona Scapple, Wrightwood, Ca.; and step-granddaughter Calli Atwell.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Monday, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Zona McDaniel Livengood
Zona McDaniel Livengood, 95, Salisbury, died Saturday (Aug. 7, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a week of serious illness.
Born Sept. 8, 1903, in Advance, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Angeline Foster McDaniel. Educated in Davie County Schools, she was a homemaker and a member of Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Livengood, who died Nov. 9, 1998, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Livengood Freeze Kincaid, who died Oct. 15, 1995, and two sons, Joe Livengood, who died Sept. 13, 1997, and Bill Livengood, who died Jan 13, 1998.
She is survived by sons Roy Livengood, Salisbury, and J. C. Livengood, Lexington; half-brother, Clarence McDaniel, Mooresville; sister Rose Sheets, Salisbury; half-sister Frances Fisher, Salisbury; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Don Newman, minister. The body will be placed in the church at 10: 30. Burial in church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8: 30 p.m. Monday, at Summersett Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Roy Livengood, 745 Majolica Road.

Blanche Sells Fesperman
Blanche Sells Fesperman, 94, 610 W. Fisher St., formerly of East Crawford Street, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at Brightmoor Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 22, 1905, in Rowan County, Mrs. Fesperman was a daughter of the late Lindsay and Maggie Mabrey Sells. A homemaker, she was a Baptist.
Her husband, Willie Henderson Fesperman, died May 29, 1969, and a son, David Lee Fesperman, died Sept. 5, 1990.
Survivors include son William H. Fesperman, Rockwell; sisters Mary S. Archie and Daisy S. Lefler, both of Salisbury; one grandchild; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bruce C. Sheeks, pastor, Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.

Tina Louise Lambert Furr
ALBEMARLE — Tina Louise Lambert Furr, 96, 25888-A Millingport Road, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at her home.
Born July 20, 1903, in Stanly County, Mrs. Furr was a daughter of the late William M. and Sophronia Martha Ann Herrin Lambert. A retired homemaker, she was a member of Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Her husband, Millard Hubert Furr, died in October 1996, and a son, Dave Lincoln Furr, died in 1966.
Survivors include sons Vernon and Coy Furr, both of Albemarle, and Roy Furr, Locust; daughters Ola Mae Harkey, Concord, Betty Jean Furr, Pacolet, S.C., Lillian Dellinger, Fallston, Christine Drye, Stanfield, Ruby Furr, Annie Belle Almond and Irene Caldwell, all of Albemarle, and Brenda Walker, Conway, S.C.; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Tuesday, Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Richard Almond. Burial, church cemetery.
