Darrell Gwynn
PELHAM, N.C. - Darrell Wayne Gwynn, 19, 675 Mineral Springs Road, died Monday, May 25, 1998, as a result of an auto accident in Johnsonville, S.C.
Born Dec. 22, 1978, in Danville, Va., he was a son of Robert and Dorothy Nesmith Gwynn, who survive.
He was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church and was an employee of Copland Fabric in Burlington.
In addition to his mother of Providence and his father of Pelham, survivors include five brothers, Tyrone Gwynn of Pelham, Curtis Gwynn of Bowie, Md., and James Gwynn of Ruffin, Robert Nesmith of Providence and Mark Nesmith of Danville, Va.; and three sisters, Gloria G. Thorpe of Chapel Hill, Linda G. Mims of Reidsville and Bessie G. Thomas of Greensboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Blackwell Baptist Church by the Rev. Everett Dickerson. Burial will be in the cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Fulton Funeral Home, Yanceyville. The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, 124 Gatewood Road, Providence.
Grace McCollum
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Grace Warren McCollum, 78, 757 Main St., died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several months of declining health.
A native of Caswell County, she was a daughter of William and Lillie Ferguson Warren.
She was married
to Wilford H. McCollum, who survives.
She was retired from Royal Hosiery and worked as an aide with the Baptist Retirement Home in Yanceyville.
She attended Caswell County schools and was a member of Yanceyville Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Brenda Garner of Hamptonville; a son, Warren H. McCollum of Prospect Hill; a brother, William "Billy" Warren of Reidsville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by three sisters, Kathleen Hall, Mary Ila Williams and Elizabeth McKinney; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church by Dr. Stanley Hare and the Rev. David Powell. Burial will be in Yanceyville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at Hooper Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Elizabeth Mise
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Elizabeth Reagan Mise, 90, 381 Hwy. 62 North, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several weeks of declining health.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of Willie E. and Mary Sue Powell Reagan.
She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church. She attended Caswell County schools.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy M. Rudd of Yanceyville; a son, Billy Mise of Yanceyville; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. David Powell. Burial will be in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

David Pleasants
SANFORD, N.C. - Davis Carlton Pleasants, 47, 343 Twinponds Road, died Monday, May 25, 1998, at his residence.
Born July 22, 1950, in Oxford, he was a son of James W. Pleasants and Winifred Hughes Pleasants, who survives.
He was married
to Janet Hughes Pleasants, who survives.
He was a stock breeder.
In addition to his wife and mother, both of Sanford, survivors include two daughters, Casey Pleasants and Stephanie Pleasants, both of Sanford; a brother, Jimmie Hughes Pleasants of Sharpsburg, Ga.; and a sister, Sylvia Lane Pleasants of Sanford.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Florence Avenue Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Keen. Burial will be in Virgilina Cemetery, Virgilina.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Brooks Funeral Home in South Boston.
Florine Smith
MILTON, N.C. - Florine Virginia Smith, 62, 302 Race Track Road, died Monday, May 25, 1998, at Stratford Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 15, 1935, she was a daughter of Willie Lee Walters and Flossie Yeaman Walters.
She was married
to Ivy Smith, who predeceased her.
She was employed as a cook for many years.
She was of the Baptist faith and joined the Apostolic Faith Holiness Church in Ringgold, Va.
Survivors include four daughters, Lula Mae Wilson of Danville, Va., and Florine Crawley of South Boston, Va., and Angela Smith and Cheryl Smith, both of Milton; four sons, Sylvene Smith of Danville, Va., and Sylvester Smith, Barry Smith and Orlando Smith, all of Milton; a sister, Hazel Claiborne of Ringgold, Va.; three brothers, Lester Walters and Willie Walters, both of Ringgold, Va., and King S. Walters of Fredericksburg, Va.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Apostolic Faith Holiness Church by Bishop W.A. Watkins. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Daniel 'Bob' Hughes
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Daniel Robert "Bob" Hughes, 67, died Thursday, May 21, 1998, at his residence.
A native of Pitt County, he was a resident of Greenville his entire life.
He was employed at College View Cleaners for 10 years and was a manager of the Landmark Pick-Up Grocery on East Fifth Street for the past 28 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche Hamm Hughes.
Survivors include a daughter, Paulette Hughes Cole of Danville, Va.; eight sisters, Virginia Skinner of Farmville, Kathleen Webb, Lelia Walston, Francis Price, Eugenia Leggett and Mildred Edwards, all of Tarboro, Rebecca Powell of Newport News, Va., and Carrie Smith of Leesburg, Va.; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Ella Lipford
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Ella Law Lipford, 7465 Cherry Grove Road, died Friday, May 22, at Duke Medical Center in Durham.
A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she had resided in North Carolina for the past 25 years.
She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Betty Jean Muse of Washington, D.C., Elaine Dyer of Burlington, Joyce Ann Massey of Woodbridge, Va., Barbara Plunkett of Danville, Va., Judy L. Slade of the home and Lena Daye of Chatham, Va.; two sons, James Lipford of Philadelphia, and Jack Lipford Jr. of Temple, Md.; 28 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at noon from the Brown's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Thurman L. Pinnix. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-7:30 at the Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 115 Holderby St., Reidsville.
Guy Hill
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - A graveside service for Guy Walter "Shorty" Hill, 67, 177 Rosemary Lane, will be conducted 2 p.m. today in Floral Hills Memory Gardens by the Rev. Mark Smith.
He died Thursday, May 28, 1998, at his residence. He had been working on a deck in his yard and died unexpectedly.
Born July 12, 1930, in Blanch, he was a son of William Lester Hill and Willie McCann Hill.
He was first married
to Janet Richardson, who predeceased him. He was later married
to Rosa Flinchum Hill, who survives.
He had been a resident of the Providence area for the past 15 years. He worked for many years at the Disston Plant, and later worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., where he retired.
He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Linda Hill; a son, Ronnie Hill; two stepdaughters, Sue Guill and Lou Hinton, both of Dry Fork, Va.; two stepsons, Weldon Ludwick of Danville, Va., and Mike Ludwick of Florida; two brothers, Frank Hill of Danville, Va., and Robert Hill of Blanch; six step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Irene Weadon
MILTON, N.C. - Irene Case Weadon, 78, of 3051 Yarborough Mill Road died Saturday, May 30, 1998 at Brian Center, Yanceyville, N.C. She had been in declining health for several years.
She was born in Caswell County, the daughter of Jessie and Fannie Moorefield Weadon. She attended Caswell County schools, was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Weadon of the home, seven daughters, Judy Brumfield of Ringgold, Va., Jorene England of Milton, Faye Fuquay of Providence, Linda Weadon of Texas, Susie Reaves of Burlington, D.D. Oakley of Prospect Hill, and Kay McAdams of Elfland, three sons, Frankie Weadon and Junior Weadon both of Blanch and Darrel Weadon of Roxboro, one sister, Fannie Owen of Milton, 26 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. James Reaves. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday 7-9 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church and at other times at the residence.
