ALBEMARLE — Ethel Mae Huneycutt Hatley, 87, 28073 Rowland Road, Mount Pleasant, died Sunday (July 25, 1999) at Britthaven of the Piedmont.
Born May 1, 1912, in Albemarle, she was a daughter of the late William Dolph and Roda Hatley Huneycutt. She retired as a winder from Wiscassett Mill Co. after 30 years of service, and was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include husband James Huston Hatley; son Reece Huneycutt, Stanfield; brother D. J. Huneycutt, Mount Pleasant; sister Viola Shoe, Mount Pleasant; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Lefler Memorial Chapel of Hartsell Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Michael B. Harrell. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

Edith Ritchie Miller
ROCKWELL — Edith Ritchie Miller, 87, China Grove, died Saturday (July 24, 1999) at her home after a period of declining health.
Born Oct. 16, 1911, in China Grove, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Laura Cress Ritchie. Educated at Farm Life School in China Grove, she was employed in the chemical department of Cannon Mills before her retirement.
Survivors include husband Woodrow Miller, whom she married in May 1931; son Tony Miller, Gaffney, S.C.; daughter Patsy Miller, Belmont; sister Ethel Sifford, Salisbury; and one grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Organ Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. John E. Pless, pastor. Burial, church cemetery.

KANNAP0LIS — Floyd Columbus Raper, 62, formerly of Kannapolis, died Sunday (July 25, 1999) in Marion.

Fred Robinson
Fred Robinson Jr., 74, 410 S. Shaver St., died Friday (July 23, 1999) at Hefner VA Medical Center after a serious illness of several days.
Born Aug. 22, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of the late Fred Robinson Sr. and Irene Culp Robinson. Educated in the Mecklenburg County schools, he was last employed as a custodian and was a volunteer with the Hefner VA Medical Center. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include son Fred Robinson III, Charlotte; brother Willie C. Robinson, High Point; sister Jean Robinson, Washington, D.C.; and one grandchild.

Charlie W. Seaford
KANNAPOLIS — Charlie Wright Seaford, 80, 1219 Pump Station Road, died Saturday (July 24, 1999) at his home. He had been in declining health for 18 months and seriously ill for four days.
Born Dec. 28, 1918, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late C.M. and Lillie Wright Seaford. Employed in No. 6 weave room of Cannon Mills Plant l until his retirement in 1982, he was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church and Kannapolis Moose Lodge.
His wife, Minnie S. Seaford, preceded him in death.
Survivors include brothers Roy Seaford, Kannapolis, and Clyde Seaford, Concord; stepsons Fletcher Robbins, Atlanta, Ga. and Lacy Robbins, Kannapolis.

Tennie Beck Ridenhour
Tennie Beck Ridenhour, 71, Salisbury, died Monday (July 26, 1999) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Dec. 14, 1927, in Davie County, Mrs. Ridenhour was a daughter of the late Jesse Boone and Lula Beatrice Grubb Beck. Educated in the Cooleemee schools, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church and the Grubb Shoaf Sunday School Class.
Survivors include husband Ralph Ridenhour Jr., whom she married July 1, 1950; son Donald Ridenhour, Salisbury; daughter Joyce Ridenhour, Salisbury; brothers Grimes and Gilmer Beck, both of Salisbury; sister Mrs. James (Kathleen) Barnhardt, Mocksville; and two grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Don Bedsole, pastor, and the Rev. Don Newman, pastor, Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Summersett Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.

The funeral will be Wednesday for Fred Robinson Jr., 73, 410 S. Shaver St., who died Friday (July 23, 1999) at the Salisbury VA Medical Center after several days of serious illness.
He was a member of J.C. Price American Legion Post 107.
Services: Noon Wednesday, First Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Leamon Brown. Burial, National Cemetery, Salisbury, with military rites by the Salisbury Rowan Veterans Council.

Floyd ‘Buck’ Raper
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral is tonight for Floyd Columbus “Buck” Raper, 67, Kannapolis, who died Sunday (July 25, 1999) at Valdese Hospital, Valdese.
Born June 20, 1932, in Murphy, Mr. Raper was a son of the late Marshal and Adenia Beaver Raper. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he formerly worked as a cook at various restaurants, including Johnson’s Restaurant and the Marathon Restaurant.
Survivors include sisters Hazel Smith, Claudia Dudley and Charlean Scott, all of Kannapolis, and Bonnie Nobles, Florida; and brothers Howard, Horace “Chuck, ” and Ronia Raper, all of Kannapolis.

Bobby Wilson Watson
The funeral will be Wednesday for Bobby Wilson Watson, 63, 750 Majolica Road, who died Sunday (July 25, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a month of serious illness.
Born Aug. 10, 1935, in Rowan County, Mr. Watson was a son of the late Walter Lee and Ethel Graham Watson. Educated in the Mount Ulla schools, he was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. A farmer, he had formerly been employed with Carolina Rubber Hose and had retired from Premtec, China Grove.
Survivors include wife Elsie Norris Watson; son Bobby Lee Watson, Mount Ulla; daughter Cheryle Wietebrock, Salisbury; brothers Bill, John and Jim Watson, all of Salisbury, and Harold Watson, Cornelius; sisters Nancy Biggers and Mildred Hamby, both of Salisbury, Betty Bowes, Greensboro, and Linda Wall, Raleigh; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Helen Roberts Ellison
KANNAPOLIS — Helen Roberts Ellison, 77, 617 N. Main St., died Monday (July 26, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Sept. 27, 1921, in Rowan County, Mrs. Ellison was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Agnes Daugherty Roberts. A member of New Hope Lutheran Church, she had retired after many years with Cannon Mills, Plant 1, sheet department.
Survivors include husband Robert “Hobie” Ellison.
