Karen Currington Romo
ROCKWELL -- A memorial service will be held Sunday for Karen Currington Stupar Romo, 56, formerly of Akron, Ohio, who died Wednesday (July 14, 1999).
A member of Southside Baptist Church, Salisbury, she was employed by Thorlo Inc. of Rockwell.
Her first husband, James Stupar, preceded her in death.
Survivors include husband Roy Romo, Fredricksburg, Va.; daughter Leslie Morris, Ocala, Fla.; brothers Bill Currington, Springfield Township, Ohio, and Loren Currington, Hartville, Ohio; sisters Frances Garrett, Barberton, Ohio, Carol Emery, Topeka, Kan., and Linda Green, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; granddaughter Ashley of the home; and another granddaughter.
Funeral services were held July 19 at Schlup-Pucak Funeral home, Akron, Ohio, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, also in Akron, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Southside Baptist Church, Salisbury.
William 'Bill' Nelson
KANNAPOLIS -- The funeral will be Sunday for William Thomas "Bill" Nelson, 42, 6685 Roberts Drive, who died Thursday (July 22, 1999).
Born March 7, 1957, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Nelson was a son of Maurice B. Nelson of Concord and the late Evelyn Dunn Nelson. He was a graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Employed by Eastway Lock &Key, Charlotte, for several years, he was a member of Parkdale Baptist Church, Concord, and the Tower City CBClub.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include daughters Leslie, Jessica and Kimberly Louise Nelson, all of Kannapolis; brothers Charles Nelson, Gaffney, S.C., and Michael Nelson, Concord; and sisters Carolyn Wagoner, Concord, Barbara Roberts, Kannapolis, and Patti Efird, Stanfield.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Parkwood Baptist Church, Concord, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Coble. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at 280 S. Circle N.W., Concord.
Bertha Hatley Huneycutt
OAKBORO -- Bertha Hatley Huneycutt, 89, 14895 Bull Hill Road, sister of Clayton Hatley, Albemarle, died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church prior to the service. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times the family will be at the home of a daughter, Kay Huneycutt, 14809 BullHill Road.
Hazel Jordan
TROUTMAN -- Hazel Lenora Foster Jordan, 454 N. Eastway Drive, mother of Mrs. Norman (Jean) Hodges of Salisbury, died Wednesday (July 21, 1999) at Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Fallstown Baptist Church. Burial, Mountain View United Methodist Church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Nicholson Funeral Home, Statesville. At other times the family will be at the home on NorthEastway Drive.

Margaret Jones Lisk
KANNAPOLIS -- Margaret Inez Jones Lisk, 91, formerly of 102 Orchard Ave., died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Oct. 30, 1907, in Stanly County, Mrs. Lisk was the daughter of the late Henry Marshall and Etta Martin Jones. She had retired in 1969 from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, No. 7 spinning room, after 45 years with the company.
Her husband, Elmo Lisk, preceded her in death.
Survivors include son Billy Lisk, Kannapolis.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Saturday, Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by Matthew Weaver.
Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Whitley's Funeral Home.
Cecil Jack Ross
Cecil Jack Ross, 72, 4453 S. Main St., died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at his residence after four weeks of serious illness.
Born March 6, 1927, in Rowan County, Mr. Ross was the son of the late Julia Sanderlin and Kimzy Erivan Ross. A graduate of the Cabarrus schools, he had retired from Cannon Mills. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include wife Alice Goss Ross; brothers R. Donald and Norman Ross, both of Salisbury, and Clyde S. Ross, Concord; and sisters Almer Basinger and Barbara Grimes, both of Kannapolis, and Sylvia Casaday and Tilda Gainey, both of Gray, Ga.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Northcrest Chapel, Linn-Honeycutt, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Larry Beaver and the Rev. Barry Kemp. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. today, Linn-Honeycutt, China Grove. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Sally Hopkins Hatley
ALBEMARLE -Sally Belle Hatley, 87, 37372 Barnhardt Road, died Friday (July 23, 1999) at her home.
Born Sept. 21, 1911, in Stanly County, Mrs. Hatley was a daughter of the late Ella Jane Blalock and John Daniel Hopkins. A homemaker, Mrs. Hatley was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.
Her husband, John Elbert Hatley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughter Lillian Morris Hatley, Salisbury; and sisters Velma H. Cranford and Emma H. Forte, both of Albemarle.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Palestine United Methodist Church, Albemarle, conducted by the Rev. Caroll A. Flack. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 1:30-2 p.m. Sunday, at the church. At other times the body will remain at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The family will be at the residence.
Barbara Susan Postell
Barbara Susan Postell, 78, 1505 Bringle Ferry Road, died Friday (July 23, 1999) at Autumn Care of Salisbury.
Born Feb. 9, 1921, in Charlotte, Miss Postell was the daughter of the late Susan Elizabeth Henderlite and James Anderson Postell.
Survivors include brother Thomas Wade Postell, Charlotte; and sister Shirley P. Stephens, Tega Cay, S.C.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born July 7, 1999, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of Allen Theodore and Tammy Walton, Cauble Road.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include maternal grandparents Jimmy and Geraldine Miller, Salisbury; paternal grandparents Ted and Jayne Koontz Walton, Salisbury; maternal great-grandfather Harold Wilhite, Salisbury; paternal great-grandparents Walter G. and Macie B.
