Joylette Burns
MILTON, N.C. - Joylette Lipscomb "Gu Gu" Burns, 77, P.O. Box 21, died Tuesday, May 28, 1996, in the Danville Regional Medical Center, following several years of declining health.
Born in Milton, N.C., she was a daughter of George and Mattie Belle Hicks Lipscomb.
She received her education from the Caswell County School System.
After earning a degree in nursing in Maryland, she worked until her illness in 1977.
She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Lafayette "La La" Lipscomb of the residence; two sisters, Georgette Lipscomb Williams of New York, N.Y., and Betty Lipscomb Richmond of Milton; three brothers, Sylvene Lipscomb of Richmond, Va., and Julious Lipscomb and Michael Lipscomb, both of Milton; and one grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Burns; and two brothers, Sherman Lipscomb and Shirley Lipscomb.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. today from New Zion Baptist Church, in Milton, by the Rev. Z.W. Kimber.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
William White Sr.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - William Herbert White Sr., 85, of Abbottswood Retirement Center, 3504 Flint St., died Monday, June 10, 1996.
Born July 24, 1910, he was a life-long resident of the Locust Hill community in Caswell County.
He was married
to Elizabeth Fowlkes White, who survives.
He attended Duke University.
He was employed by the federal government until his retirement.
He was also president of the North Carolina Soil Conservation.
He was an active member and lay speaker of Locust Hill Methodist Church.
In his later years, he resided in Greensboro, where he was active in the YMCA and was also a member of the Odd Fellows Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Dr. William Herbert White Jr.; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth "Bette" McClure and Sarah Karolyn Soyars; two sisters, Virginia Watlington and Dorothy Lyday; a brother, James White; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Locust Hill Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Hooper Funeral Home of Yanceyville is in charge of arrangements.
Ryland Dodd
MADISON, N.C. - Ryland Edward Dodd, 68, 4670 N.C. 704, died Tuesday, June 11, 1996, in Moses Cone Hospital.
Born in Pittsylvania County, Va., he was a son of John D. and Grace Dodd.
He was married
to Lillian Buettner Dodd, who survives.
He was a member of Glenwood Memorial Baptist Church, Danville, Va.
He served as a deacon.
He also served in the United States Army.
He was formerly employed by Tamson Chevrolet and Drumwright Motors in Danville, by Carolina and Northwestern Railroad, and also by Southern Railroad.
He was also a retired service manager from Tuttle Chevrolet.
He served on the Madison Zoning and Planning Board.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, Michael Dodd of Salem, Va., and John Dodd of Stoneville; four daughters, Cathy Patterson of Danville, and Cynthia Gregory, Dixie Griffin and Linda Knight, all of Madison; a brother, Carroll Dodd of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Bessie Bohannon of Danville; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Comer's Chapel Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Ricky and Linda Knight, 981 Bald Hill Loop, Madison.
Eleanor Law
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - A graveside service for Eleanor Margaret Law, 83, of Route 1, Pelham, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Cleveland Duke.
She died Wednesday, June 12, 1996, in the Brian Nursing Center of Yanceyville, following several years of declining health.
Born in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Tom B. and Lillian Bell Law.
She attended Caswell County schools and was also a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Dennis Ritch
CRAMERTON, N.C. - Hester Dennis Ritch, 77, of Cramerton, N.C., and formerly of Marion County, died Monday, June 10, 1996, in his residence.
Born Sept. 1, 1918, in Marion County, Ala., he was a son of Phillip Edgar Ritch and Huldy Jane Hester Ritch.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Sodyco Co. as a furnace operator.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was also a member of Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Randell Charles Ritch of Danville, Va.; three brothers, Stanley Ritch and Deward Ritch, both of Hamilton, Ala., and Arthur Ritch of Indiana; four sisters, Iantha Mays of Jasper, Ala., Lois Peoples, Olean Barnett, and Grace Fredrick, all of Hamilton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle Williams Ritch; a daughter, Mary Helen Ritch; and a son, Terry Ritch.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday from Fulton Bridge Baptist Church, in Marion County, by the Rev. Jeff Hunter. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed one hour prior to the service at the church.

E.C. Gerringer
E.C. Gerringer, 78, of 205 Clement Ave., died Saturday, April 13, 1996, in Semora N.C.
Born Jan. 23, 1918, in Pelham, N.C., he was a son of Eli Craven Gerringer Sr. and Lilly May McGee Gerringer.
He spent most of his life in Danville and was an agent for North American Van Lines for 42 years.
He was a member of Virginia Movers Conference, and president and owner of Merchants Delivery Moving & Storage Inc.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons and as superintendent of Sunday school No. 3.
He had life membership in the P.T.A and served on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries.
Other memberships included Roman Eagle Masonic Lodge, Danville Consistary of Scottish Rite, and ACCA Temple Shrine.
He had received the Sertoma Man of the Year award.
On Oct. 16, 1941, he was married
to Ruth Owen Gerringer, who survives.
In addition to his wife of Danville, survivors include two daughters, Earlene G. Riddle and Diane G. Collie both of Danville; one son, Stephen Phillip Gerringer of Danville; one sister, Sara G. Carter of Ruffin, N.C.; one brother, Sidney Gerringer of Rockingham, N.C.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Lee Ellison.
Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and other times will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Collie, 145 Fox Hollow Drive, Danville.
Baby Crutchfield
CARY, N.C. - Virginia Grayson Crutchfield, an infant, 103 Mariposa Drive, died Monday, Sept. 30, 1996, in Duke Medical Center, following heart surgery.
Born Aug. 7, 1996, in Raleigh, N.C., she was a daughter of Lisa Taylor Crutchfield and Stephen Crutchfield, who survive.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Connor Crutchfield of the residence; her maternal grandparents, Dan and Linda Taylor of Yanceyville; her paternal grandparents, Ida and Sam Crutchfield of Danville; her paternal great-grandfather, David E. Fuquay.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the home tonight.
